GGuest UserIt was a wonderful experience. I was so excited before arriving and still savoring it after returning. I booked a stay with two meals and enjoyed the hot springs three times a day. The ancient Showa atmosphere, mingled with the sea breeze from the Tsugaru Strait, was a highlight of my trip to Hakodate.

GGuest UserI stayed in a D-Fourth Non smoking room on the 8th floor. The room has a nice view of Mount Hakodate from the balcony and a view of the port from the bedroom window. Room was clean and there is daily cleaning if you ask for it. Cooking utensils are available though no condiments provided. The bath system is electronic and took a while to figure out how to use it. Room was spacious and adequate for 4 of us. What we loved is that while the dryer did not really dry our clothes (separate washer and dryer), the heater in the room was strong enough to dry them and we could borrow a rack from the hotel to hang them out to dry. Only improvement we would like to suggest - we arrived when it was snowing heavily, and as we moved our luggage into the room the floor became wet and dirtied, we had to clean with tissue as there is no floor cleaner available.would be nice to provide self cleaning tools especially since there is a kitchen and things might spill. And also the balcony did not have any ‘balcony’ shoes so it was just too cold to step outside to enjoy the scenary. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Would choose it again if we go Hakodate.

ZZuoyouzuoI've stayed at this hotel twice now. It's quite convenient; you can walk to Mount Hakodate, and the beach is close enough for some great photos. It's also near the station and a supermarket, plus there's a Lawson convenience store right downstairs.

MM….....The front desk service was excellent, with staff who spoke Chinese. They patiently explained how to get to the beach and even gave us a map 🗺️.
The hotel's location is fantastic. You can spot it right away after exiting the JR station and turning left. It's also super convenient to get here from the airport by taking bus number 3, which drops you off at the JR station.
The breakfast was plentiful, with sashimi, noodles, bread, fruit, fried chicken, and more. The milk tasted great. The restaurant offers outdoor views, so it was lovely to eat and gaze out the window while it snowed.
The onsen ♨️ was decent, nothing spectacular but good enough. They provided Sekkisei skincare products, which are well-known.
However, the toothbrush was a major downside. It was incredibly hard, so much so that it hurt my mouth when brushing. I strongly recommend the hotel replaces the toothbrushes❗️

WWee LoonLocation is the king. Booked a room that can see the canal right off the window for a peaceful view. Otaru is a small town and most of the places are within walking distance. Stroll along the Otaru canal right in front of the hotel was great! Room itself was normal, and we have one advice for the hotel to just remove the aged cupboards in front of the beds since nobody really needs them to give more walking space and luggage space. Onsen on the top floor was decent though not of the best, offering a good view of the canal. Service at the hotel was normal. Those who have cars will need to pay 1200 yen for one day of parking (will need to inform hotel to reserve the parking space when you go out). Everybody, regardless you are going to onsen or not, needs to pay 150 yen onsen tax when you check in.

CChoy SumBecause I had to return the car at Hakodate Airport the next day, I chose to stay in Yunokawa, which only takes about 10 minutes by car. The hotel has free parking and also provides a buffet breakfast, which is really chill to eat breakfast against the unparalleled sea view. Friendly staff, willing to help, excellent service. Definitely bring my family again.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is good, about an 8-minute walk from Hakodate Station. The lobby and public areas are impressively decorated, but the room decor, however, was a bit plain, and the space wasn't utilized very well. The bathroom also lacked a proper wet/dry separation.
There are two restaurants for breakfast: a buffet on the 1st floor and set menus on the 2nd floor. I had originally planned to try both options since I was staying for two nights. However, to my surprise, the buffet on the 1st floor required waiting for a table for over 40 minutes on both mornings, so I gave up. I ended up having the set menu on the 2nd floor for both days, which was decent. It was less crowded, and a set meal was quite filling for the morning. Overall, I'd rate it 3.5 stars.

MM3946****The hotel's location is super convenient. After getting off at Hakodate Station, you can take buses 95, 95A, or 96 right outside the station (get off at Yunokawa Onsen Station), and the hotel is directly across the street. Conversely, you can catch a bus from the hotel entrance directly to JR Hakodate Station. This is incredibly handy, especially given how expensive taxis are in Japan.
The hotel rooms are very spacious. While the facilities are a bit dated, the big plus is that the room comes with a private, continuously flowing hot spring bath – it's not one of those you have to turn on and off with a tap. It's semi-open-air, looking out onto the ocean, so there's no need to worry about privacy. Soaking in the onsen while enjoying the sea view, perhaps with an ice cream [chuckle] – it really doesn't get much more relaxing!
Since we booked a Japanese-style room, staff came to make our beds after check-in. The mini-fridge was stocked with complimentary bottled water, bottled tea, and beer. Unfortunately, my family and I don't drink, so we didn't make use of that service [facepalm].
Right next to the hotel is the 'Ichimonji' ramen shop, and the Tropical Botanical Garden, where you can watch monkeys soaking in the hot springs, is just a 300-500 meter walk away. Guests staying at Hanatsuki can also request a window seat at breakfast to enjoy the sea view while they eat.
