Find 3-Star Hotels in Sofia

I traveled to Sofia as a solo female traveler and chose this guesthouse because I love old houses with character. This place not only had the best location but also many lovely touches. It was clean, with tea, coffee, and snacks in the kitchen for everyone to enjoy. I didn’t sit in the garden since the weather was cold, but I was delighted to be greeted by the cats whenever I went out or came back. The friendly neighborhood also made me feel very welcomed. I look Asian, don’t speak the language, and traveled alone, yet at no point did I feel unwelcome or unsafe. I’d definitely stay here again if I visit Sofia in the future.

Hotel was nice, glad that I’ve found it online, it’s hard to find a good hotel to book online due to tons of negative feedbacks, but this one has a great feedback so I booked it. And it did not disappoint me. Hotel is clean with good fragrance that you can smell the moment that you’ll enter the lobby / reception. Service is great, friendly and accommodating staff. The room is spacious, seems like a 4 star room for me. They serve breakfast, with tons of seats where you can relax after check in while waiting for your next trip or flight. I forgot my bag in their lounge area / lobby before I went to their restaurant to take coffee. Then was in a hurry to go to the car service I booked outside when it was already time to go to the bus station going to Romania. After arriving at the bus station, I noticed that my bag is not in my possession, when I was about to get my other phone. Because I have other luggages to carry and was in hurry. I was worried sick that it will be lost, my bag, glad that it was there. The staff handed it over, they kept it, and nothing was missing. After getting it, I got an email from the booking app where I booked the hotel, telling me that Amar Design Hotel contacted them saying that I left my bag at the hotel. And they were asking for my contact number to reach me, they were to kind to do that right immediately. But I already got the bag. Still thankful and grateful to their staff. I would definitely check in here again when I get back to Sofia, and will recommend it to friends who are traveling here. Thank you. It was a nice stay, and their service made it even great!

Great location. It's within walking distance from the station, and once you get used to it, public transport is quick and easy to use. Being close to the station is great, but it's also easy to walk to the downtown area. Plus, there's a supermarket just across the street, which is amazing for breakfast. The items in the attached photo cost 1.35 euros—a true supermarket price. You can also buy bottled water cheaply. The facilities are basic, just the bare minimum for a stay, and opinions might be mixed on whether they are good or bad. Guys probably won't have any complaints at all, but I'm not so sure about women. Highly recommended, especially for experienced travelers.

The attitude of the receptionist was unprofessional, rude and unacceptable. For one hour, the whole hotel didn’t know how to charge my credit card, as their credit card machine doesn’t follow EU rules for 3D security, thus jeopardising clients’ private data. I wasted a full hour on the phone with my bank, only to find out that the hotel doesn’t follow rules on how to securely handle credit card data. The management kept telling me that it’s my fault, despite the fact I never before have had problems with card payments before. Breakfast food was decent, with a choice between a couple of set menus. The hotel was clean, rooms were quiet, and it was situated and in a convenient location, within 3-4 minutes from the nearest metro station. Some of the photos on their site are dated, as the interior is different now.

The hotel was fine for the price. Staff were very helpful, the view of the city was amazing. The bed was okay, there was no overhead lighting. One had to use lamps. The fridge in the room was nice to have but noisy. I unplugged it at night. It kept the contents cold by the next morning. Daily house keeping, metro just outside and a shopping mall across the road. There is Burger King, KFC, Subway if you are craving Western food. Basic amenities but clean and comfortable.

Clean environment, the location is quite strategic for the neighbourhood with the means, but if you want to walk is not far from the center. The check-in is very comfortable and practical because it is self-service but if you need anything you can call the hotel number and they will answer you immediately, so perfect!

Our stay at Hotel Budapest in Sofia was enjoyable and convenient. The hotel’s location is excellent—easily accessible and close to many key attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious, with a variety of well-prepared dishes that satisfied our expectations. However, the dinner service during New Year’s Eve was noticeably slower, likely due to the large number of guests celebrating the occasion. While the wait was understandable given the holiday rush, a bit more efficiency would have improved the experience. Overall, Hotel Budapest offers great food, a prime location, and a welcoming atmosphere. With a little attention to service during peak times, it’s an excellent choice for a stay in Sofia!

The location is fantastic, very convenient for catching a morning flight. They offer an airport shuttle service, and the night staff were very helpful too. During the day, you could even walk to the airport. Plus, if you have to leave too early for breakfast, the front desk will pack one to go for you—a cheese, ham, and lettuce sandwich along with an apple. The price is also very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Very good please business wise. Was close to the metro and train stations. The hotel is ok. Breakfast was fine as well.

The beds are designed to offer a good sense of personal space, with overhead storage and additional lockers, which is convenient (though some lockers were broken and couldn't be locked). However, it seems a cleaning staff's family lives on-site. Their children would study in the shared kitchen, leaving it messy, or even sleep there. They also used the showers and toilets regularly, which initially made me uncomfortable as I didn't know who they were.
