Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu was our 5th hotel in this journey, and honestly, it set the bar pretty high.
The location was hard to beat — right opposite Matsue Station, and it could be easily reached through an underpass, which was especially helpful when travelling with big luggage or during bad weather.
One big surprise for us was the check-in experience. We arrived at the hotel at around 11.30am, fully expecting to leave our luggage and return later, but we were told that our room was already ready and we could occupy it immediately instead of waiting until the usual 3pm check-in time. It also seemed that they upgraded our booking to a Standard Double Room, which made the experience even better. Two thumbs up for this hotel.
Even though we had booked a Standard Single Room, the space genuinely surprised us. The room came with a queen bed and was more than comfortable for two of us. We were able to fully open our large suitcases without feeling cramped — something that is not always guaranteed in Japanese hotels.
The room layout was practical and well thought out, with a proper TV console and work desk with a chair, a single sofa with a small table, an air purifier, and a fridge. The TV model was a bit outdated, though it did not affect our stay.
The bathroom was also spacious, with a proper bathtub that allowed us to stretch our legs comfortably after long days out. The bed was very comfy, and they provided two pillows for each of us, which made our sleep even better.
Amenities and bottled water were provided at the lobby area, which we found convenient. We paid around SGD159 (JPY19,000) for two nights, and it was excellent value.
Overall, it was one of the best hotels in this journey, and we would gladly stay here again.
Although the public areas of this hotel look outdated, the rooms are modern and clean. However, the room is too small for two people. Considering the location and price, it's decent for just an overnight stay.
I was upgraded to their largest room, complete with an ocean view and a private bathroom. It was absolutely fantastic; everything was perfect. They also offer free bicycle rentals. Parking is available for a fee, but it's incredibly convenient, which is a huge bonus in Japan where parking can often be a major issue.
Suitenkaku was our first stay in a Ryokan. Those who want to visit Tottori, Izumo and Sakaiminato will find Matsue well located, while the Ryokan is next door to the Ichibata railway deserving the Izumo Taisha. The room was renovated and very spacious, offering a direct view to the lake. Above all, the staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. Real Omotenashi !
We are fully satisfied with our stay. Will repeat for our next stay in the area.
It was nice to have a coin laundry.
The large communal bath was also nice.
It was a shame that the parking lot🅿️ could not be parked inside the hotel.
The staff were very friendly.
The breakfast buffet was delicious.
This is probably the best hotel chain (affordable) in Japan. Toyoko Inn's service is incredible. They provided assistance to the nearest car park , as well as provide free parking for guests (if you are early). The free breakfast at the hotel is restaruant level! Highly reccomended! Whenever you see Toyoko Inn, just book it. Nothing will go wrong.
Recommended for women and couples!
Location: It is located in front of the station and is close to Izumo station from the window of the room.
[Facilities] There are many amenities and almost everything you need. Hair dryers and hair irons are also available. The entrance, large communal bath, and rooms are clean and cute.
[Customer service] Everyone smiled nicely and I was able to spend very comfortable.
I want to use it again.

DDanielsSarahFrom the moment we arrived, the hospitality was warm and friendly! Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, beautiful, multi course meals. The location was lovely. We definitely recommend it!
GGuest UserThis was my first time in Masuda City, and I took the JR line to stay overnight after a concert. I've stayed at other Route Inns before, so the only thing I was worried about was how far it was from the station. It was a little dark after the concert, but I walked there. There was a McDonald's next door, so I ordered takeout while walking, picked it up as soon as I arrived, and ate it slowly in my room. The breakfast was also very delicious. It's far from Matsue, but once the mountains connect, it's a town I'd like to visit again.
UuyoacDesign hotel. The room is very beautiful. The furniture, cups, pajamas, and toiletries are all carefully considered. The largest room booked has a terrace. You can see the city view. The stay is very comfortable and the price/performance ratio is high. The only drawback is that the check-out time is 9:30, which is too early.
YyukimimaThe welcome drink was substantial and good.
It's close to the port, so you can go to the island you want to go to! I went back to Nakanoshima for a day.
GGuest UserIt is a share house type, but it is reasonable and new and beautiful. It is recommended if you finish your meal outside.
Check-in and out, parking, and amenities distribution are Oki Plaza Hotel in the main building.
TTETSUKOIt was a little far from the port, but I was grateful for the car transfer.
Free water and coffee after breakfast on the first floor were free to drink (laughs)
I was satisfied with the Oki beef that I wanted to eat dinner!
HHAICHENGYitian is the transit point of the itinerary. I chose this place in order to take the Shanyang Express, the only one bound for Xinshankou in the morning of the next day. There are no scenic spots nearby, the hotel is on the other side of the station, there is no overpass, you need to walk a short distance to the tunnel.
