5-Star Hotels in Central Java, Indonesia

Loving the facilities and varieties of free activities provided. We literally just stay in the hotel to join as much activities as we can. The kids had lots of fun at kids club, we parents joined latte art class, aerial yoga. Even grandparents enjoyed the stay, my mum & I managed to join the flower arranging class, mums finally got to have fun too 🥰

We arrived at the hotel in the evening; the interior had a distinct Southeast Asian feel. During the day, the surrounding environment looked like an oil painting. Perhaps because we spoke a little Indonesian, the staff were incredibly welcoming, inviting us to take a shuttle bus up to the mountaintop for a panoramic view of Borobudur – absolutely amazing! Actually, the entire mountain belongs to them; the hotel is at the foot of the mountain, the villas are on top, and there's also a peacock garden and a small deer park. The hotel offers many activities, such as horseback riding and making batik (a traditional Indonesian craft), all very interesting. The staff also mentioned that many of them live on the mountain, their homes very close to their workplaces. We were so envious! You can easily book a Grab ride from the hotel; it's less than ten minutes to Borobudur, very convenient.

This is a beautiful property with clean well appointed rooms. The gym has good equipment and the pool is great. The only thing that I was not happy with is the hotel changed their policy about using the sauna and steam rooms. I have been visiting this hotel every year and this is the first time I was denied entry because I booked a superior room instead of a deluxe room. I believe this is a bad policy.

love every part of this hotel, during all my hop on and hop off hotels this past years, this Gumaya hotel has met a good standard in most of aspects, especially the breakfast. im so suprised find hotel that the breakfast food taste delicious in all the stalls (usually will be too salty, too bland or just bleh..) but at gumaya, we are like travelling to each own traditional food restaurant, the authentic gudeg, the very nice lumpia and ikan bandeng, the warm soto ayam semarang and the homemade jamu and juices. all is excellent.

I had booked and stayed for 2 nights with my wife and parents, everything (such as service, location, atmosphere, the condition of the room, etc…), we were very satisfied. So we have decided to prolong one more night, and we were very happy. Last year my wife, I, and my parents stayed at Tentrem in Jogjakarta, and we were satisfied. Last month my parents with my siblings also stayed there (Tentrem in Semarang) for their trip and they were satisfied as well. If I really have to put something a bit pity: - The ‘entrance’ of the basement parking is a bit small for the car - The air condition (the temperature) during the breakfast was a little bit hot. Beside those two, we were very satisfied 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Excellent hotel. The best from the Swiss-Bel chain. One of the few hotels that serve good quality western wheat bread for breakfast. Unfortunately, only sweet stuff such as jam, chocolate paste and peanut butter is served. Good quality wheat bread should be served with cheese, slices of cold meat and boiled eggs. Sweet stuff is for white bread. There is an entrance from the hotel to the mall which is very convenient. This hotel has a great lobby, lounge and bar area with a good atmosphere. Live music performances are everyday in this area from 20.00 to 22.00. For us, 22.00 is too early. By that time we return from dining outside. Hence, we would greatly appreciate it if the music performance is until 23.00. The bathroom has a very good bathtub, excellent heated water and Pepsodent toothpaste. The bedroom has two chairs, a fridge and good quality matresses.

Our recent stay at this establishment was nothing short of exemplary. The property is immaculately maintained, with a lobby that immediately captivates guests through its refined ambiance and tasteful design. Our accommodation was impeccably prepared and afforded my wife, our child, and me a serene and comfortable retreat. The swimming pool offered an invigoratingly cool respite, while the breakfast spread was both sumptuous and artfully presented. Every member of the hotel’s staff demonstrated exceptional warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness, elevating our experience from merely pleasant to truly memorable.

I came during high season so maybe the cleaning staff wasn't very detailed (we found popcorn at floor and some stain at bed sheet). I complained and the staff handle it very well. However this hotel located at strategic place so near from central city. The hotel is connected to a mall, so it's very helpful for families with children (I brought a 1-year-old baby) if there are baby items that we forgot to bring from home. We can buy them at the mall. Breakfast is complete but maybe if they have ”nasi tim” it will be perfect. (In this case because my baby cant eat rice yet) Thank you Po Hotel

We had a nice experience staying at Grand Mercure Solo Baru! The location was perfect and reachable to all around the city. The room was really cozy. Cleanliness could be slightly improved as we could see signs of aging, including at the gym. But overall, we would come back!
