When I entered the monastery hotel in the mountains
I remember the stone also.
Portuguese architect De Mora didn't grind them down or return what they looked like six hundred years ago
He let the cracks stay
Let the ruined and daubed roofs licket like scars
Renovation completed in 1997
Now I sleep where the monks once walked.
New cement with old stones, modern glass outside is a 17th century wall.
Some of the restorations are not restorations, but the ruins are kept alive, and I have to say I find it romantic.
Like a human, with all the traces of modification.
Standing silently on the mountain

Exceptional hotel! All at the maximum: room cleaning, staff friendly, breakfast rich with fresh and well-assorted products. Well heated ambiences despite the huge spaces; rooms with home and super large bathroom with shower and bathtub. You can't wish better! Compliments to Melia! Surely we'll come back! Outdoor free parking possibilities. The only small neo is the distance from the center, but not too far. Good staff boys!
The service was five star from the initial greeting through to check out. Accommodation was modern with glass doors and quality fittings plus a coffee machine which was a nice touch. Spa was very good although you need a shower cap for the pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast was excellent and they even provided gluten-free pastries which was a lovely touch. Finally, the vineyard and surrounding areas are stunning.
The hotel is in an ancient monastery and it makes all the charm and attraction of the place if you like ”old stones and historical places”. The renovation has kept the original building and improved it to todays comfort. The rooms ( cells) are small but well fitted with a comfortable bed and functional bathroom. You can feel History when you enter the building and anywhere you walk . They have a big outdoor park for pleasant walks .
The church adjacent to the Hotel is worth visiting. I was staying on a weekend and I attended the Sunday mass.
My only negative note is on the breakfast which is very disappointing in terms of product variety and quality. The set up of the breakfast buffet is very poor and not attractive at all. The breakfast team is not as welcoming and friendly as the front desk or lady at the bar, which is not meeting one's expectations in such a place.
