4-Star Hotels in Anhui, China

During the spring break, I took my kids to Huangshan to explore the places mentioned in their textbooks. We planned for a two-day trip and chose to stay at Baiyun Hotel on the mountain top, close to Bright Summit, on the first night. Manager Shi Xiaomin, who assisted us, was incredibly welcoming. We had originally booked a standard room in Area B, which was a bit further away, but Manager Shi kindly upgraded us to a standard room in Area A for free. This made it much more convenient for us to catch performances and enjoy the buffet. Manager Shi also thoughtfully provided us with some complimentary wine and snacks, and reminded us about the sunset and sunrise times. Both the adults and children were very satisfied with our stay at Baiyun Hotel. Thumbs up to Manager Shi! 👍🏻

Convenient transportation, thoughtful service, clean rooms, and the mattress is very Hilton style, which is replaced quarterly. This time it is used from April to June, and it is comfortable to sleep. It is worth mentioning that the small dishes and noodles for breakfast in the hotel are good, and I personally think they are delicious.

Let's start with the positives. 1. **Excellent Location**: Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street is right downstairs, and so is Kawaoka (a popular local bubble tea chain). 2. **Outstanding Laundry Service**: The lady working in the laundry room was incredibly helpful. She washed, dried, and even folded our clothes, then brought them back to our room. 3. **Good Breakfast**: The breakfast had a great variety, and there's a kids' play area in the restaurant, which allowed adults to enjoy their meal while the children played. Now for the disappointments. 1. **Overwhelming Smoke Smell**: The entire hotel reeked of smoke! There were ashtrays by the elevators on every floor – are they encouraging smoking? As soon as we opened our room door, a strong smoky smell hit us, which totally goes against the impression I have of the Mercure brand. 2. **Outdated Room Facilities**: While the hotel only opened in 2021, the facilities are poorly maintained. Many floorboards are peeling and cracked, which was quite disappointing upon entering the room. 3. **No Air Conditioning**: We were told that it wasn't the season for AC, and only a central fan was available. The weather was very hot, and while they provided a fan for the room, it was incredibly noisy at night! I woke up in a sweat. 4. **Unimpressive Lobby Entrance**: The hotel lobby is on the 5th floor, and the entrance from the 1st floor was rather unappealing, giving it a feel more like a family guesthouse than a hotel. Overall, if you're staying for just one night for the location, it's acceptable. However, the overall experience simply can't compare to other Mercure hotels in different cities. With so many other hotels available, I wouldn't necessarily choose this one again.

Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking art installation! The design featuring red flowing ribbons in the high-ceilinged space was incredibly impactful. Combined with the high-quality furniture and decor, every corner felt like a meticulously curated art exhibition. The public areas truly impressed me with their thoughtful details: whether it was the long communal table surrounded by blue bar stools or the orange and white themed discussion area, both perfectly balanced aesthetics and practicality. They were ideal for catching up with friends or getting some temporary work done. Plus, each zone was adorned with exquisite floral arrangements, creating an absolutely fantastic ambiance. And the food continued to surprise! The chocolate mousse and white peach mousse at the dessert bar were both visually stunning and delicious – one bite and I was in heaven. The variety and quality of the breakfast were also beyond words; staying here meant starting every day feeling refreshed and energized. From the artistic lobby and attentive service to the delectable meals, the Hilton Garden Inn truly embodies ”quality” in every aspect. Five stars are a must, and I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!

There was construction going on near the hotel, so the exterior wasn't ideal. I actually booked this by mistake – who knew a small town like Tangkou would have two Hilton hotels? Haha. But after checking in, I truly understood the meaning of 'a home away from home.' The front desk staff, maintenance, Manager Wang, and housekeeping were all incredibly attentive. I booked the right place after all! Before we even came down the mountain, the front desk proactively contacted us via text and WeChat to ask if we had any special requests. Knowing we were two adults and one child, they upgraded us to a mountain-view room. When I went to buy a breakfast ticket for my child upon arrival, the front desk told me kids under 1.4 meters eat free! (The upgraded room also allowed for an extra bed! I tried it out and it was incredibly clean – pay attention to the details! I even pushed the sofa myself to block the bed, and there was absolutely no trash underneath). When we stored our luggage before going up the mountain, we chose the Hilton Garden Inn nearby. Only after coming down and checking in did I realize I had booked the Hilton Hampton Inn. The Garden Inn didn't turn us away; they explained that even though the two hotels are managed by different companies, they have a working relationship. They helped me contact the Hampton Inn immediately, and Manager Wang drove over to pick us up. For us, exhausted after coming down from Huangshan, this timely assistance was incredibly touching. They didn't even charge for the luggage storage! Manager Wang said that sometimes their guests also go to the Hampton Inn by mistake, and they don't charge for parking either. This eased my embarrassment and made me want to praise the business philosophy of both hotels – competitors helping each other out! During our stay, the TV signal wasn't very stable. I called engineering maintenance twice, and the technician with glasses arrived within two minutes each time to fix it. Thumbs up for their efficiency and great attitude. When we left, it was raining and we didn't have umbrellas. I contacted the front desk for help, and they woke up Manager Wang who was on the night shift to give us a ride! So many hotels only pick up but don't drop off; the Hampton Inn is truly heartwarming!! I'll choose your hotel again, even during the peak season in Huangshan, and even if there's no room upgrade. Thank you.

I was lucky to choose this hotel during the May Day holiday. The room was spacious and bright, and cleaned very well. The front desk was responsive and professional in communication. After booking, I asked for a quiet room on the 19th floor in advance, and my request was fulfilled. The only problem was that the door was not soundproof enough. In the morning, I was disturbed by guests in other rooms and even dogs barking. However, the flaws did not outweigh the merits. Recommended!

This is one of the best hotel in Hefei. We loved everything about this hotel. Anywhere jn western country this hotel would be considered ultra luxury hotel. We were greeted by very friendly staff who went above and beyond to help us. The decor in this hotel is very beautiful. Breakfast had tonnes of choices and pretty everything. They have beautiful lobby where you can wait sit around and order drinks. A big shout out to Cucu for helping us out and preparing us some amazing drinks.

The hotel's location, service, and cleanliness are all excellent! The most important thing is that the front desk staff are all very kind and provide great service. It's very friendly for foreign travelers! For my friend's birthday, the front desk helped us order a cake which was super delicious and beautiful. The 'Xiao Du' smart assistant in the room is quite good; it's convenient for playing music and opening/closing curtains. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the lobby, but the spiral staircase is absolutely gorgeous. Getting a Didi (ride-sharing) is also very convenient. The hotel entrance has a big smiley face, making it super easy to spot. The front desk truly deserves 10,000 stars 🌟. There's a pedestrian street right downstairs, which is super convenient, and the location is also very close to Hefei Station. The lobby offers health tea and popcorn. Foreign travelers, you should definitely go for this hotel, it's really great ❤️

First off, I have to point out something odd: in a hotel in Hefei, the decorative map in the room (picture 7) was actually a map of Anqing (facing west). A bit out of place! **Facilities:** The separate shower and toilet are great. The room also had a projector, smart toilet, and electric curtains – very modern overall. However, the air conditioning's auto mode seemed to be broken; it wouldn't blow air, so I had to manually set it to heat. **Hygiene:** Very clean. There were alcohol wipes and disposable toilet seat covers next to the toilet, and all the personal hygiene products were well-stocked. Overall, it was clean, bright, and odor-free. **Environment:** The modern decor was fresh and bright. It's about a five-minute walk to the nearby BRT and subway stations, making transportation convenient. However, the soundproofing for the toilet and shower area near the room's entrance wasn't great; I could clearly hear loud conversations from the next room. **Service:** The front desk staff were very friendly. Check-in was super easy; you just scanned a mini-program QR code at the front desk. The restaurant was closed for the holiday, and even though I booked a room without breakfast, the front desk kindly provided a small pastry and milk as a complimentary breakfast.

I've stayed at this guesthouse twice now. The first time was with friends, and I liked it so much I brought my family back for a second stay. Compared to a standard hotel, the ambiance here is really unique, with a 'step-by-step, scene-by-scene' feel. I'd highly recommend bringing Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) for photos; they'll turn out beautifully. The hotel service is excellent. Any requests communicated via WeChat were responded to very quickly. I'd definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Huangshan or Huizhou.
