Clean and tidy. The room had high ceilings which was very comfortable. The price was even cheaper than some motels. For this price, staying in a hotel of this caliber is truly amazing value for money. The only downside was that parking was quite inconvenient; if you want to park, you need to book early, but even then, you'll likely not get a spot as there are only about a dozen available.
Queenstown is absolutely stunning, I was blown away when I landed! It's incredibly beautiful.
The hotel was undergoing renovations when I visited, and you need to book parking in advance, otherwise you won't be able to park in the hotel lot.
On our departure day, we went for breakfast and at 8:30 AM, they announced a power outage. We arrived at 8 AM, and a Southeast Asian male server told us all à la carte dishes couldn't be made, and we could only have salad and toast. I pointed out that we still had half an hour, and a white chef nearby confirmed he could make them. That's how we ended up getting breakfast. Thumbs down to that server.
Everything else was great. Truly beautiful.
I recently stayed at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross and had a very pleasant experience. One of the biggest highlights of this hotel is its excellent location – it's within walking distance to many of Dunedin's main attractions, including the Railway Station, Baldwin Street (the world’s steepest street), and Queen’s Gardens. Whether you're in town for sightseeing or just want convenient access to key places, this hotel is ideally situated.
The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making the entire stay hassle-free. The room was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring the city.
Another plus is the on-site hotel parking, which is a great convenience, especially in a central location like this.
Overall, I’d recommend Scenic Hotel Southern Cross for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel in Dunedin with friendly service and all the essentials covered.
Very happy with our Accomodation at Aria on Bank Dunedin. The self contained unit for a couple was modern, very clean, fresh & well presented. Free (No fee) use of laundry ( washing machine & dryer) for all tenants to use.
Our room was missing a frying pan which i needed to cook. I contacted the front desk, the gentleman receptionist immediately ran & I mean ran to our unit to confirm it was missing & sure enough none to be located. He left & returned a couple mins later with a replacement frying pan & utensil. Outstanding service.
AAA+++ RATING for service & excellence.
We stayed at a motel in Wanaka. The owner was very welcoming during check-in, explaining the surroundings and the supermarket's location, which made us feel right at home. The room facilities were great, and both the bathroom and kitchen were spacious. So we bought some groceries and cooked a delicious dinner. Overall, it was a good experience. Recommended!
I've stayed in many hotels, and this one was definitely a highlight. I booked the Executive Suite and got room 506, which I was very pleased with. The room was spotless, all the facilities were brand new, and the bedding was super comfortable. The toiletries smelled absolutely amazing! We were two adults and one child, and the sofa bed in the room was already made up for us. Since it was Chinese New Year's Eve, and we were worried about not finding food, we pre-booked the hotel restaurant, and the food was pretty good too. Definitely worth a stay.
The front desk sister is very nice, smiles often on the face, and also helps to collect the leftovers! ! ! There is a Chinese lady at the gas station. The bath water is very big, and the sheets are especially like those used in 3-star hotels in China. Hahaha
SierraMotel is a typical kiwi motel with all the amenities you need.
Nicely set back off the road so quiet and undisturbed. Obviously very popular with cyclists, fishermen and walkers, of whom there were plenty.
An absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel's surroundings are incredibly beautiful. Inside, the decor is very unique and charming, with a lovely little garden and a pool. The front desk even gave us welcome cookies when we checked in, which was a really nice touch.

GGuest UserView was more than spectacular..recommend booking a lake view room, was able to sleep with the window open and the view of the lake all day and night was breathtaking.. food in restaurant so/so, easy walk into town to find everything you need
GGuest UserIt was great with underground parking with internal access, it was very clean and exactly what we were looking for.
The staff we very helpful and friendly. I would recommend it to anybody
KKhoThe place is spacious and the location is excellent. It is right next to the main road. After watching the little penguins, you can buy fast food nearby before returning to the hostel. The room is spacious and there are staff on duty at night. You can park at the door, which is very convenient
HHuobatuThe hotel environment is particularly good, the proprietress is a Chinese sister, especially good, give me milk, it is very quiet, and very close to the scenic spot, there is a McDonald's and gas station ten meters away, there is a fish and chips 100 meters away, and the Chinese are also delicious but not friendly. In short, the hotel is very clean, the location is good, convenient and fast, parking is very convenient
이이진희We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.
ZZiyang JustinVery clean and easily accessible from Queentown Airport. Counter staff are also approachable and friendly. Simple and good to use as a base to explore Queentown city. Carpark lots are sufficient though they hotel will highlight that there is limited during especially peak seasons.
AAnonymous UserThe facilities were new and great, and the sleep was comfortable, but there are a few things that need improvement:
1️⃣ The water temperature at night wasn't good.
2️⃣ The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting and I couldn't even connect to it.
Parking costs 20 NZD per day.

GGuest UserThe room offered a beautiful view of the lake and mountains, which was lovely. It was a two-story room, and my elderly parents wanted to sleep downstairs. We asked the front desk if they could add a single bed downstairs. Initially, an Indian staff member at the front desk agreed, but when we returned to the hotel that evening, they told us it wasn't possible. Thankfully, our driver and guide negotiated repeatedly, and they eventually added a bed for us for the following days. The breakfast wasn't very diverse, with not much to choose from.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it takes about 30 minutes to walk to town (downhill all the way). However, the scenery along the way is beautiful, so it's quite nice for those who enjoy walking and sightseeing. For shopping, it's better to drive (there's paid parking in town). Our lake-view room was a bit tricky to get to; we had to go up a few floors and then climb another flight of stairs. Carrying luggage was really tough, so I wouldn't recommend this room type if you mind hauling your bags. Other than that, everything else was fine, okay.
