Amazing
AArron Dhaliwal SinghSerenity resort Amazing hotel - would highly recommend staying here. We stayed at serenity resort for 2 nights on arriving at Koh Chang from Bangkok. The location is so so idyllic and relaxing, absolutely beautiful. We also stayed on the west side of the island for a couple of nights and while it is quieter on the east side of the island (ie, there is no point in leaving the resort in the evening as there is nothing really to do on the east side after dark) this is exactly what we were after. The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Food and drinks at the restaurant were great and reasonably priced. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Lovely view. As other reviews have said, if you are staying here you will likely want your own transport so you can explore. We rented a moped from the resort at a very reasonable price. If you want to rent a car make sure you have an intl driving permit (takes a few mins to obtain but must do whilst in the UK). There’s barely any traffic on this side of the island so the drive down to long beach at the south of the island felt very safe on a moped despite the hills (and would be the same in a car). The resort staff recommended us to do this and then get kayaks over to Koh ngam, which we did and was a great experience! The other option is to rent a taxi for a day (we were quoted c2500 baht for 6 hours) and they can drop you wherever you like and wait for you. Thanks again for a lovely stay at serenity resort!!

Amazing
DDouyacaiThis hotel was a surprising and authentic find! The whole place has a classic Thai wooden style, and the rooms are huge with amazing sea views. Waking up to that view each morning was just wonderful… While the decor is a bit older, the hotel facilities are very comprehensive. My favorite part was the huge balcony – perfect for comfortably zoning out. The breakfast was excellent, with different dishes every day, featuring fresh vegetables and fruits. What was really unexpected was the number of peacocks 🦚 strolling around the hotel grounds. They weren't afraid of people at all. To be honest, I was a bit scared of them myself; their calls were quite loud! Sometimes, two peacocks would even stand guard right outside my room, making it hard for me to get in. 🏡 The only inconvenience was that there are no supermarkets or restaurants around the hotel. You have to take the hotel's shuttle bus to get out. Once you reach White Sand Beach, you can shop or eat freely. It was a bit of a hassle, to be honest. The hotel's food was also a bit expensive and, more importantly, not very good. Since I stayed for many days, I ended up buying a lot of things from 7-Eleven to bring back to my room. Service: Excellent, very friendly attitude. Environment: I highly recommend the environment and the hotel's beach 🏖️ – it's perfect! If you're looking to just relax and not do any shopping, this place is definitely worth considering.

Amazing
XXinquanThe entire hotel is constructed from timber, and the overall decor style is very consistent. The only drawback is that the beach is quite small, but there are plenty of other places to explore, and it's very comfortable to just relax at the hotel. Right at the hotel entrance, there's a service point where you can sign up for island hopping tours, and I also got my laundry done there, 65 baht per kilogram. There's a 7-Eleven right outside, and a nice restaurant called Mango Tree. The room itself is quite spacious, and the bathroom is very large and comfortable. There's an electric mosquito repellent in the room, but I barely encountered any mosquitoes. The area outside the room is designed to look like a tropical rainforest, and it even rains occasionally. The pool right outside the room is a bit shallow, but there's a larger public pool in the common area. Every evening at 6 PM, there's a torch-lighting ceremony by the pool, followed by marshmallow roasting. Breakfast was quite substantial. Many people queued for coffee, and there were noodle and egg stations. The Thai stew was delicious. There's an intern named Mon who speaks Chinese, and she was incredibly helpful to us. I went to her for everything, and she was always very enthusiastic to assist. She told me her Chinese teacher gave her the Chinese name 'Xiangling' (香菱), and I suggested she break ties with that teacher!

BBesoGonThe hotel grounds are amazing, full of wildlife and nature (no spiders or snakes though). Breakfast was really good and had a great variety. The beach water was clean and the pools were nice. The biggest downside was the terrible soundproofing in the sea-view rooms on the hillside. We could clearly hear our neighbors talking and playing music all night. We called the reception several times, but nothing changed. In the end we just had to wait until they finished partying and went to sleep. The rooms are also a bit worn out. Some mold in places and the plumbing feels outdated. Location-wise, it’s quite inconvenient without a bike or car. The hotel shuttle runs rarely, and every ride to town on a songthaew costs about 50–70 baht per person, which becomes 2–3 times more expensive in the evening.

AAnonymous UserThe overall experience was alright, but the facilities need some care. The water park is old and some of the slides are breaking down, they don’t look safe. The hotel is divided in two areas, one across the road and one by the beach. If you are staying across the road you can’t use the pool from the beach side, which is a bummer and a big downside. Would check other places first.

AAmideeThis hotel is situated over the water with stilts, which I loved. Its unique appearance, with all its natural wood flooring and decks adds to its charm and feel of the fishing community. It’s a terrific place to stay for some great Thai Seafood! The VIP rooms are recommended as they are spacious and have a lovely outside space to relax over looking the water. They also have plenty of windows and natural lighting. These rooms are very comfortable. It has a restaurant attached to it, also over the water on stilts, which serves fantastic, fresh sea food dishes! My favorite meals was the barracuda with sweet and sour sauce and the calamari. They are good sized meals and their fresh juices are also perfect for the heat! Aoys farm bakery and cafe is also very close by. If you go to your left of the entrance to this hotel you will see the sign for her cafe and bakery. Aoy makes the most delicious cakes that are supplied to many hotels and businesses on the island! Highly recommend going to see her charming cafe and bakery! It’s a short walk and great for fantastic breakfasts and fresh juices or warm drinks, if you don’t want sea food at the resort, go there! The pool is lovely, as the water below the hotel is not clean and we did not want to swim in it. There are other beach locations for swimming. You can hire a fishing rod and do some DIY fishing, or pay for fishing half or full day trips, hire bikes, and kayaks. I was satisfied with this location and would certainly consider staying there again for a night or two!

VVarsenal76Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort I stayed in a room with a private pool. A little splurge on myself! It was so fun to have my own pool, to wake up in the morning and just jump into the water for a little cooling off. I could lay on the recliner and read to my heart’s content with no distractions, feet in the water. Morning breakfasts are fantastic and the beach view is amazing! Staff are friendly and helpful. What to know?: it’s the “Cliff Beach Resort”, which means your on a hill… which means climbing. It’SA steep walk from room to beach, but a great opportunity to get your blood flowing. Embrace it. Room for growth: the bedding smelled a bit sour. It’s wet here, so making sure things dry properly is a challenge. My greatest complaint about the room is that there was a ladder propped up against the backside of the pool wall, meaning someone could climb it right into my private room. A little sketch. The ladder is for maintenance, so I just pushed it off the wall. The pool could use a bit of chlorine as algae was present on the pool walls, but honestly, I’d rather have the non-chemical water. The biggest negative which the hotel has no control over is the nighttime noise. There’s a bar across the street which pumps loud music (starting at 10pm and going til like 4am). The hotel actually gives you earplugs when you check in. So lame. There’s two pools. One up on top of the cliff with excellent views. One down by the ocean. Overall, a pleasant stay.

KKhant Soe NaungThe Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway is a solid 4-star resort located in Bai Lan Bay. As the name ”Hideaway” suggests, it is secluded, peaceful, and removed from the busy party areas. It is an excellent choice if you want privacy, relaxation, and great swimming pools, but it is not the best choice if you want to swim in the ocean directly from the hotel beach. Key Features • Location: It is located at Bai Lan Bay, which is south of the popular ”Lonely Beach.” It is very quiet. To find nightlife or a variety of street food, you will likely need to take a taxi or rent a motorbike to drive about 5-10 minutes to Lonely Beach or Kai Bae. • The Beach: Important Note: The hotel has a private beachfront, but it is quite rocky. It is beautiful for sunsets and relaxing on bean bags, but it is generally not suitable for swimming due to the rocks. • Pools: To make up for the rocky beach, the hotel has two excellent swimming pools. One is a large free-form pool by the ocean, which is very popular with guests. • Rooms: The resort offers a range of rooms from Standard to Private Pool Villas. The rooms are generally reviewed as spacious and modern with Thai influences. The Pool Villas are highly recommended for couples seeking privacy. Dining & Facilities • The Bay Restaurant: Serves International and Thai cuisine. Reviews generally praise the breakfast buffet for having a good variety. The restaurant offers ocean views. • Facilities: • Fitness Center & Spa: There is a well-equipped gym and a spa offering massages (often cited as a highlight by guests). • Entertainment: The hotel has a Karaoke room, a Kids' Club for families, and often hosts fire shows on the beach in the evenings.
