"Facilities: It has all the standard amenities of an established five-star hotel. Despite its age, the hotel is well-maintained and doesn't feel old at all. I didn't use the health club, but I did peek in – the gym is spacious, and the infinity pool has a great ambiance. The breakfast at Yun Cafe is quite rich, but the Executive Lounge breakfast is a letdown. I requested a room with a view of Tianjin Station, and they accommodated it promptly and to my satisfaction.
Environment: Now for the downsides. The room next to the room next to mine started their wedding reception before 7 AM. You can't really complain about someone getting married, but from 7 AM onwards, groups of people were constantly making extremely loud noises in the hallway. My Saturday morning was ruined by being woken up so early; I couldn't get back to sleep at all. Was the hotel completely unaware of this event beforehand? Whether for business or leisure, a hotel's most basic function is to ensure guests get a good rest, and they failed at that. Knowing there was a wedding reception, yet assigning me a room on the same floor and so close to it, is really hard to understand. Floors 28 and above are all executive floors, yet they specifically put me on the 28th floor right next to a room with a wedding party.
The hotel didn't offer turndown service in the evening, but that's minor. The view accounts for 80% of the room cost. Other than that, at over 1000 yuan, it's not as good as a basic room at The St. Regis or Four Seasons."
