The hotel's back entrance is just a 100-meter walk up some steps to Chairman Mao's former residence, and many other attractions are very close by. The restaurant service was excellent – friendly and welcoming. We received complimentary fruit and bottled water. Both the breakfast and our à la carte dinner at the restaurant were delicious. In my room, there was an unsettling stain on the wall near the TV – it looked like either soy sauce or blood – which was pretty gross. The bathroom was tiny, making even grabbing a tissue difficult. On the plus side, housekeeping kept the room clean. The open-air corridors, though, were extremely hot. Breakfast was average, neither good nor bad. The commercial street downstairs, which was recently renovated, only opens on weekends. For over 600 a night, I didn't find it particularly good value for money. However, the front desk service was excellent, and I'd like to commend them for that.

It’s a bit unpleasant to find insects that have fallen into the water overnight, and there wasn’t a net available for guests to use themselves. Apart from that small detail, everything was perfect, and I would definitely come back!
