Days Inn by Wyndham Chesterfield Tibshelf
3.8/593 Reviews
Needed convenient stopping point from Surrey to Chestefield, one night, for a funeral. Location ideal. Despite proximity to M1 itself, road noise was not excessive. Receptionist was really welcoming; gave me a choccie bar and bottle of water. You can stroll to the services for Mcdonald's or Costa - and WH Smith etc, (if open). . The overall decor is a bit 'tired' but everything was clean, bed fresh, coffee/tea facilities. Would have preferred the radio to be fitted by the bedside not table across the room (!). Freeview TV quite adequate for one night........ Bedroom was huge (guess it would double up as a family room at times) - and possibly I could have taken my dog with me, in which case the extra space was great. For functionality cannot fault.
The Boars Head Hotel

Enjoyed a wonderful relaxing Xmas break at the Boars Head. Nice big comfortable bedroom with king size plus bed. The food was exceptional throughout and the service provided by Gabby and her team was top class, with breakfast in particular very acceptable Plenty of space to play scrabble warmed by log fires in the lounges, ample parking and great location to travel by car. Yes we extended our stay by one night as we enjoyed the stay so much. Booked again in March for the wife`s birthday and really looking forward to a return visit.
New Bath Hotel & Spa

The hotel is ideally situated outside hustle and bustle of Matlock Spa. The food was absolutely delicious - well done chef and kitchen crew. The attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was excellent - we were made very comfortable and welcome. The massage my husband and I had was of very high quality and much needed. The spa area is very small and cramped - I wonder if there are any plans to extend ? The outdoor naturally heated pool a delight - our first experience of this which we thoroughly appreciated. Again everyone around the pool were friendly and encouraging. But oh dear …. The hotel buildings themselves need millions investing in them to bring them up to scratch as a spa venue … and I suppose the money just isn’t there, which is such a shame - as in its prime I bet it was a real destination venue. So go - enjoy it for what it is. Laugh at mismatched head boards, bolt on wardrobes, out of date signage in bathrooms, skew pictures and mirrors, radiators hanging off walls, rotten wood, peeling paint. If someone has spare millions - please invest in this place 😉
The Dog & Partridge Country Inn

Breakfast is not really included as such. Only the continental buffet. This is cereal, fruits, cereal bars, baked items and a large selection of cakes, including mince pies, which was odd for breakfast. The hot breakfast requires a surcharge to be paid, something I’ve never experienced before. The full English would be best described as part English breakfast, with no sausages, tomatoes, or mushrooms included which is a bit of an insult when you’re paying a surcharge. I can’t fault the service, or anything else, but this felt a bit naughty to be doing.
The Greyhound Hotel Cromford
4.1/542 Reviews
I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location is right in the centre of Cromford. The food is really good and served in generous portions. As soon as you enter the hotel you cannot help being charmed. The rooms are, what I consider, classic British style. The beds are incredibly soft and well made up. This is really good after a whole day of hiking. The hotel was a guest house in the 1800’s so has a historic feel to it. Which I love. In one word: perfect.
Travelodge Derby Cricket Ground

First room allocated and the tv didn’t work but staff kindly moved me to another room. Unfortunately the next morning at 8:30am there were workmen in the corridor replacing the ceiling tiles so there was loud hammering, drilling and sawing. The hotel manager refunded me 1 night stay but I don’t understand why they would use the rooms if there was repairs going on. Leaving the room I had to step over paint pots and tools.
The Queen's Head Hotel

Stayed at the Queen's Head hotel over the weekend due to attending a concert at Buxton Opera House. We were really well looked after and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean , warm and welcoming. Whilst there is no on-site parking, there is parking in the market place only a minutes walk away which was easy to access. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
Aston Court Hotel

Opposite is Derby Railway Station, if the train is more convenient. Less than ten minutes walk from Derby Mall, convenient location. There is a restaurant next to it, and there is a burger at the train station. The reserved twin room has very little space. Because it is an old building, it seems that it can not be decorated too much, which is worse.
Tyger Inn, Derby
3.3/544 Reviews
Firstly, this is not a Premier Inn any longer. It is, instead, the OYO Tyger Inn. This was my second stay at this hotel. The room was large, very comfortable, warm and very clean. There is plenty of car parking and the wifi was more than sufficient for streaming television pictures on my tablet. The picture on the television set in the room was very good. You could check in as early as 2pm if you wished. It is true that there is some outstanding decorating work in the bathroom (room 16) but at £40 per night my stay represented outstanding value for money and I will be looking to book again in the spring when I return to the area.
Holiday Inn Express Derby - Pride Park

Lovely experience as usual. Always stay here hand I go up for the football due to the location. The rooms are always really clean although they could do with a bit of TLC. The staff at the reception are always lovely. The breakfast was pretty good and it’s included in the cost as well. The only reason I can’t give this a 5star is due to having to pay £5 a day to park my car.
