All was good the hotel was lovely, breakfast a nice variety, the room and location were right BUT the walls were so thin. Was woken up early hours of the morning by a ‘screamer’ and constant laughing and then had the nerve to put Do Not Disturb notice on the door knob. That really did spoil my weekend. Did not get much sleep
The front desk staff, a Pakistani guy, was really friendly. When he found out I was Chinese, he said China and Pakistan are good friends and then gave me a great room with a view of Leeds Cathedral. For an Ibis Budget triple room, this price is an absolute steal, especially for a family of three!
The facilities were good, queit single room, you have to come in with your food as there is no food service in the hotel. The location was perfect for me this time.
A decent accommodation for a short stay. The place even provides a mini kitchen space which was not initially advertised but was a plus!
Customer service was extremely helpful in terms of confirming the booking and figuring out how the shower works - apparently you have to pull a “lever” to turn on the shower, running water does not immediately come out of the shower as expected. Besides that minor hiccup, super easy to travel from this place given that the Huddersfield Bus Station is less than 10 mins and is reliable and is directly opposite the University of Huddersfield which makes it feel safe for a solo female traveller.
Check-in and checkout was easy given that you will have to refer to the email sent on the digital lock passcode for the building entrance and the room. There isn’t a reception or customer service desk - more of an Air BNB concept.
The hotel is ideally situated in walking distance to most shops and the town centre.
It is not flashy and areas of the hotel are a little outdated but it was ideal for what I needed whilst visiting Halifax. The bed was comfy and the staff are super
friendly! I instantly felt welcome and very comfortable to ask for assistance if I needed it.
I would stay at The Old Post Office again.
Top tip: if you are a solo traveler and rooms are not showing as available, then phone The Old Post Office directly. I was told the rates are £48 per night for solo travelers.
