4-Star Hotels in North Sumatra, Indonesia

We have glued to this hotel for the last 2 or 3 years😀, everything is good, nothing to complain about. From arrival to check out, all staffs are well trained and functioning well. In this 2026, we have done 2 trips to Medan and stayed here + got the same room as I requested. We are coming back on 20 May and hopefully will get the same room too😊😊

I recently stayed at Grand Sakura Hotel in Medan, and overall, it was a decent experience—especially for the price. The hotel is located in a pretty strategic area, making it easy to get around the city and access nearby attractions, shopping spots, and transportation. Many guests also highlight the convenience of its location and accessibility. The room was spacious and fairly comfortable, with basic amenities like air conditioning, TV, and WiFi. Cleanliness was generally acceptable, although some areas could use better maintenance and attention to detail. One of the positives is the staff—they were mostly friendly and helpful during the stay, which made the experience more pleasant. The breakfast offered a decent variety of food, though sometimes items were not refilled quickly during busy periods. However, there are a few downsides. Some guests have reported issues like noise (especially from air conditioning units), occasional maintenance problems, and inconsistent service at the front desk. The facilities are also quite basic, so don’t expect anything luxurious. Overall, Grand Sakura Hotel is a good budget-friendly option if you’re looking for a simple and convenient place to stay in Medan. It’s best suited for short stays or travelers who prioritize location and value over luxury.

I had a very pleasant stay at Aryaduta Medan. The hotel offers a perfect combination of comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality. The room was clean, spacious, and well maintained, providing a relaxing place to rest. Staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. The location is excellent, right in the city center, making it easy to access shopping areas and local attractions. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good variety of local and international dishes. Overall, Aryaduta Medan delivers great value and a comfortable stay. I would gladly return again.

The hotel is relatively new, and the room size and layout are excellent. The staff also provide good service. However, on the second day after it rained, the cold water was very dirty, although the hot water was fine. The location is right next to the train station, but if you walk from the station to the hotel, even though it's not far, the road isn't very pedestrian-friendly (there are barely any sidewalks, and lots of motorbikes).

Had pleasant stay for 1 night , the location is excellent, staff were all very friendly and breakfast was a nice way to start the day, would definitely recommend for the location and friendly service especially for family with young children

The hotel boasts an excellent location with easy access to all the key areas. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the managers are very cooperative. Thanks to the guidance of the line manager, my stay was pleasant, despite some challenges with the receptionists' English proficiency. Overall, the hotel is quite good, especially the room size. However, it is due for renovations, as the furniture and other facilities are showing their age.

Overall, the stay was pleasant. The accommodation was good, clean, and comfortable. The room was well-maintained and suitable for a relaxing stay. However, there were some weaknesses. The hotel only has one lift, which caused inconvenience, especially during busy times. The check-out process was also quite slow and inefficient. There seemed to be no proper system or queue management, as guests who arrived earlier had to wait longer while others were called first. With some improvements in the check-out management and lift facilities, the overall experience could be much better.

This hotel represents exceptional value for money, with quality rooms and exceptional services. I stayed 3 nights in April 2026, and i have wonderful view on the 8 floor. This trip was combination of business and pleasure. The breakfast had a range of options, catering for western and Indonesian tastes. However, it would be nice if milk was refrigerated, as with other Marriot group properties in Bal. There is a supermarket across the street and very large hypermarket about 5 minute walk from the hotel. An excellent bakery is 2 minute walk from the hotel. This hotel is not near major shopping malls, but they can be easily reaching via a grab taxi for about $2 in 10 mins. The bed was super comfy and arm chair was great. However, the desk height was not really appropriate and do not sufficient for business work. However, I completed most work in the armchair with pillows for the laptop. Excellent range of TV channels including BBC and CNN. An ice bucket costs 50,000 IDR. ($4 Aus dollars) I used the pool which was great on 2nd floor with city views. Unfortunately, the hotel is situated on extremely busy road and be careful when walking on the sidewalks (footpaths), it can be easy to fall. Still, I would highly recommended this hotel for the price paid and outstanding service and room quality for 4 star establishment. .

Everything was satisfactory overall. The only thing that needs attention is the bathroom; water tends to pool on the floor around the sink and toilet area after showering.

Conveniently located from the train station (though we used Grab). Loved the availability of WatsApp with the hotel, they responded promptly. Despite 1 set of toiletries for 2 guest, seemed a little silly. The housekeeper are always very kind to provide more when requested. Excellent masseuse at the Spa on L2. Breakfast buffet is sumptuous though the 'top up' is slow after 9am. Centre point Centre shopping mall is just right behind the hotel.. with variety of f&b, shops & korean supermarket.
