This was the only hotel in Shanxi that proactively called us before our trip (proactive service is essential and leaves a good impression on guests). They also offer airport pick-up/drop-off, which was arranged in advance and very thoughtful. They even set up a chat group for communication, which was timely and effective. The guesthouse is located right in Dongnan Yi, making it very convenient to get around and saving a lot of travel time. The breakfast every morning was substantial; my friends even joked it was like a confinement meal, very nourishing, haha. The amenities in the room were also from brands favored by high-end guesthouses nowadays~

Treasure B&B No. 7 Mansion in the Ancient City! The location is unbeatable, perfect for walking to all the major ancient buildings. It also has a free parking area, which is super convenient if you're driving. The room features smart home tech throughout, and the Serta mattress really helped soothe my back after a long drive. The bathroom facilities are high-end and spotless. The service is gentle and attentive, and breakfast includes authentic knife-cut noodles. The rooftop terrace offers an absolutely stunning night view of the ancient city. Definitely my top choice for accommodation!

A very cozy and comfortable B&B, located right in the ancient town's pedestrian street, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling area. The courtyard is spacious, the rooms are clean, and all amenities are of high quality. Breakfast is plentiful, and the staff are friendly. The location is excellent, with all of the ancient town's attractions within walking distance, which is great when traveling with kids as it saves a lot of hassle. Plus, many popular restaurants often have long queues, but because this place is so close, you can easily grab takeout and enjoy your meal back at the hotel, saving a lot of waiting time. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong.

A small inn inside a new development within the old city, within a few minutes walk of the city wall, where you can climb up and walk the wall.    The hotel and surrounding development was created in the traditional style.     Clean, newly built , managed well, provided a good breakfast,  room furnishings were a higher quality than an average hotel.     Underground parking garage was convenient.     If I had to improve anything, I would find a way to turn off the bath area sink mirror night light.   It was distracting to try to sleep with the room bathed in bright blue light ( more like a studio, not a fully separate bathroom )... I ended up sticking a towel against it to block most of the light.

1. This hostel doesn't actively enforce quiet hours: there were no reminders about quiet times in common areas or dorms posted during check-in or in the elevator, which was quite disappointing. If you're sensitive to disruptive guests, I'd advise against staying here. 2. It opened on 26.7, so the common area showers and toilets are indeed in good condition. However, the 10-bed dorm (with a fresh air system) had a very strong formaldehyde smell. If you can't tolerate strong chemical odors, don't come to these windowless 10-bed dorms with fresh air systems. The smell only started to dissipate on the third day of my stay. (I was too lazy to move, as it was raining and cold, around 10-15 degrees Celsius). The light switch and air conditioning buttons were hidden behind the bed, so I had to reach in blindly to operate them. It was impossible to see the AC buttons, so I had to blindly turn it on and off every day. (This was quite frustrating; why not consider practical usage and change it?) 3. And now for the main complaint, which I furiously wrote down after being woken up at 5 AM: the other guests' behavior was unbelievably poor! Someone's phone was constantly making notification sounds because it wasn't on silent. From 12 AM when the lights went out, people were repeatedly opening and closing the door, coming in and out. My goodness, from 12 AM, 1 AM, 2 AM, and even at 5 AM, people were still repeatedly opening the door to use the bathroom?? And in the early morning, there were two people repeatedly swiping their cards three or four times but couldn't get in, with a loud electronic message every time saying they couldn't enter. The worst part was how loudly they were talking, saying things like, ”Thank you so much, I can't even get in!” I mean, what time in the morning was it? And why so loud? (I had walked 20,000 steps and was exhausted, falling asleep immediately at 12 AM, only to be constantly woken up.) The collective awareness of other guests was terrible... This was the worst night I've experienced in terms of guest etiquette among all the hostels I've stayed in since mid-August. Of course, the main reason is indeed the guests' lack of consideration, but from day one, I personally felt that this hostel wasn't serious about quiet management. This was evident because on my first day, there were no notices about quiet hours in common areas or dorms during check-in. There was no proactive management or clear communication from the hostel: no specific times when showering or hair drying isn't allowed in common areas, and no reminder that dorms should be quiet after 11 PM. (During my four-night stay, people were showering and drying their hair in the common areas after 11 PM, and the soundproofing wasn't good. One night, it was still noisy even after 1 AM). 4. Advantages: The overall common area environment is indeed good. There's free laundry detergent, washing machines, and dryers. I also noticed a newly added makeup area and a free charging station with a pool table downstairs. I hope the management can improve the details in all aspects.

I found my favorite hotel of this trip! My trip was spontaneous, and I decided to visit Datong last minute. I booked the hotel hastily, primarily based on its aesthetics and location. After checking in, my experience exceeded my expectations! It's incredibly beautiful and stylish, blending modern design with the ancient charm I anticipated in Datong. The most important thing was the excellent service. Since I didn't plan ahead, on my first day, the front desk staff, Vivian, Tongtong, and Xiaoyu, helped me plan my itinerary for sightseeing, dining, and entertainment, offering tons of suggestions and information. The super lovely proprietress even helped me find a highly professional tour guide for my visit to the Yungang Grottoes the next day! (Having previously visited the Longmen Grottoes and Gaxian Cave, I wanted to connect the historical dots with the Yungang Grottoes, and I was so glad to have such an academic and professional guide who could delve deep into any questions I had). Everyone was warm and attentive! Highly, highly recommend!

I was drawn by the hotel's design and made a special trip to check it out. I booked the 'Elegant Residence Package' and was upgraded to the 'Daijunyi Courtyard' upon check-in. The courtyard was rustic and quiet, with a mini garden, and the interior decor was understated yet elegant. VOSS water was supplied unlimited daily, and I really liked the complimentary amenity kit. Welcome fruits were delivered to the room at 2 PM, and the fruit and nuts varied each day, which was a nice touch and added a sense of surprise. Turndown service was around 6 or 7 PM. At 4 PM, I had afternoon tea at the Yingguang Restaurant. It was a semi-buffet with an à la carte option. The champagne and tea were excellent, and refills were unlimited. The small cakes were a bit bland, and I didn't try the main courses. Afterwards, I went to Phase 1 for a photoshoot. Phase 2 isn't far from Phase 1, but the butler still recommended taking the shuttle. The photographer was very familiar with the best spots and even gave a brief introduction to the hotel. The public areas are indeed beautiful and very well-designed, especially in Phase 1, which offers many picturesque angles and is great for photos. The lounge on the second floor offers views of the Datong ancient city wall. The gym, pool, and children's play area are all in Phase 1. The children's play area offers three craft options before 5 PM. The gym and pool aren't very large, but they're great for photos. Phase 2 consists of independent courtyards, with only one public courtyard and the Yingguang Restaurant, but it's also very photogenic. Phase 2 is relatively quieter and all the buildings are historical. It's definitely worth visiting if you like the Siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard) style. The much-anticipated breakfast was also a semi-buffet with à la carte options, and I couldn't resist ordering a whole table of dishes. I highly recommend the 'Dao Xiao Mian' (knife-sliced noodles) and the steak. Although the steak portion was small, it was delicious. The selection of dishes wasn't extensive, but they all tasted good, and the quality of the fruit and ingredients was excellent. The butler team was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, providing thoughtful and attentive service. Every staff member was outstanding. After check-out, they even gave us a souvenir. As my luggage was heavy, they specially arranged a shuttle to take me to Fenglin Pavilion, and the driver even helped load my luggage into the car. Such attentive service made me feel respected and comfortable throughout the entire process, making the price itself seem less important.

We had an amazing stay and would highly recommend this hotel! The location is perfect for exploring the city center on foot. The hotel is brand new while beautifully preserving a traditional Chinese style, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They went above and beyond to meet all of our needs and even welcomed us with a lovely afternoon snack, which was a very thoughtful touch. The breakfast was delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine with a wide variety of choices. We especially appreciated how seriously they take food allergies and dietary requirements, something that is unfortunately not common everywhere. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate every request made us feel truly cared for. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely come back on our next visit!

This stay was absolutely fantastic! The guesthouse is located in a quiet and peaceful area, far from the hustle and bustle, so I slept incredibly well at night. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and every corner was well-maintained with great attention to detail. The host was incredibly thoughtful and warm; before check-in, they patiently provided directions and important information, and responded promptly to any requests. They also thoughtfully recommended great places to visit nearby. They were truly responsible and welcoming! Both the elderly and children in our group were very satisfied! It’s our top choice for accommodation when traveling, and we'll definitely choose to stay here again next time. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Extremely happy with my stay here! Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants. The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room! 10/10!!
