LLaura 劳拉We absolutely loved staying here! It was such a hidden gem and so so nice. A beautiful courtyard to sit and have morning coffee, great styled room, cozy and warm. The hosts were amazing and made homemade breakfast every morning, whatever we wanted to eat. It was truly an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable, affordable, authentic experience in Datong.

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

GGuest UserI've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional – an à la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience!
In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur!
The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me – I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! 👍👍👍👍👍
Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer:
1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation.
2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience.
3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting.

GGuest UserI discovered a treasure of a B&B hotel that opened this month~~ Pingchengfu is very close to various attractions. In two days, I went to Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Datong Museum, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Jingtu Temple, and watched the sunset from the city wall, the intangible cultural heritage of iron flower, etc. Datong city construction is great! Overall, the accommodation experience was full, and I also ate at Kaige Restaurant and Longjuxiang recommended by locals. The overall travel experience was great! Thank you for the service of the B&B brothers and sisters, which is very good. The environment is quiet in the bustling city, and the decoration is antique. If I have the opportunity to come to Datong again next time, I will continue to book! Looking forward to seeing you next time

I made an appointment for the high-speed rail pick-up in advance, which was very punctual. The hotel environment was also very good. The front desk lobby was bar-style and very comfortable. All the service staff in the hotel were very good, very enthusiastic and thoughtful. The breakfast was also very rich and very good. I strongly recommend this Manxin Hotel to Datong. It's really great!

The aroma wafted from the entrance, instantly creating a positive impression. The facilities are absolutely top-notch, and the amenities are of very high quality. Turndown service and snacks/fruits were provided every night upon return; I was thoroughly taken care of.
Service Team: I believe guests choosing this resort hotel have high expectations. The management team is mature and decisive in handling issues. Breakfast and rooms are good, and the rooms are very clean. I took the time to try the fitness center, which was fantastic. It would be perfect if the shower lighting could be adjusted. The front desk team is relatively young and responsive, handling issues in a standard way, but they need to improve their smart talk skills, as they directly address various guest questions.
Other:
- Some rooms still had a noticeable smell of paint or renovation (I thought that after years of preparation, this wouldn't be a problem). For those sensitive to odors, it's recommended to communicate this before check-in;
- Due to the relatively high price of the lobby bar, it's suggested that some self-service tea and snacks be provided in the public area to add a touch of resort-style social interaction;
- The handheld iron in the wardrobe is convenient. The sofa and wooden coffee table next to the bed could perhaps be better arranged.
Thanks to the resort hotel for adjusting the check-out time according to our needs, ensuring a worry-free trip.

GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

MM265777****Honestly, the Superior Twin Room is perfectly fine. The Deluxe rooms are just bigger than the Superior ones, but there's no other difference, and the extra space isn't really utilized.
The hotel staff provided excellent service, the rooms were very clean, and the food was delicious (the braised pork, stir-fried pork slices, siu mai, and sweet and sour meatballs were all outstanding). I especially liked the buckwheat pillows in each room; they're perfect for someone like me who can't sleep on high pillows. The front desk gave everyone a beautiful souvenir map. Even when retrieving our bags, the bellhop quickly came over and hurried to assist, which shows that the Garden Hotel treats its employees well, as their professionalism and enthusiasm for service are exceptional.
There are several popular internet-famous restaurants around the hotel. You can go down to get a number during meal times, then come back to the hotel and relax, and head back down when your number is called an hour or two later. No need to wait outside the hotel in the cold. I have to recommend a hidden gem: a fried skewer shop near the hotel. It's incredibly tasty, even the coating on the quail eggs is crispy.
The spa area is a bit small, with only two scrubbing stations and five showers, but the scrubbing service, massage service, and other assisted bathing services are all excellent and reasonably priced. The staff scrub very diligently. My family member said that the guy ahead of him, after asking about the prices, immediately declared he wanted every service! 😂😂😂
I feel like if I come back in the future, I'll still choose the Garden Hotel.

2When I first arrived at this B&B, I was deeply attracted by its unique design style. The boss and employees are very enthusiastic. The design style is designed by a Japanese designer and incorporates Chinese thangka art. The boss's collection of thangkas are all hand-painted by Regong, and each thangka is considered to be a high-quality product. Standing in front of thangka, I feel that the whole world has become quiet, and my soul seems to have returned. This is not only a place to stay, but also a good place for people to relax and find their spiritual self.
3 I have always believed that the meaning of travel is not only to see the scenery, but more importantly to experience life. In this B&B, I found such an experience. From the decoration design in the room to the layout of each thangka, every detail makes people feel warm and clean. If you are looking for a place to rest your soul, this is definitely your first choice.
This B&B left a deep impression on me. It not only has a beautiful environment, but also feels like home. You can explore the ancient city during the day and enjoy the warmth of home when you return to the B&B at night. In particular, the mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and ensured a good night's sleep.
This is a B&B full of charm and peace of mind. From the moment you check in to the time you leave, every moment feels like you are in a Zen world.
