Datong Hotels with Kitchens

"Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. "This guesthouse is absolutely fantastic! It's located within the ancient city walls, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. The villa-style building is charming, and the bedding and bathroom were incredibly clean, dry, and odor-free. The hostess is wonderful; she added me on WeChat beforehand to arrange pickup and even prepared some fruit for us. She also recommended some authentic local cuisine. The breakfast was incredibly rich, with millet porridge, steamed buns, mantou, sweet potatoes, and corn. What really stood out was that the side dish wasn't just simple pickles, but a freshly tossed, refreshing vegetable salad! 👍 The guesthouse's location is super convenient for exploring all the attractions within the ancient city. I also highly recommend Master Chang, who the hostess suggested. As a retired military veteran, he has a strong sense of responsibility and meticulousness. Since it was our first time in Datong and we wanted to visit Hanging Temple, Mount Heng, Yungang Grottoes, and Yanmen Pass in just two days, Master Chang even recommended additional unique attractions based on our interests. He worked tirelessly to help us secure tickets and went above and beyond to fulfill our wishes in Datong, contacting people everywhere. After two days, he felt like a close friend, constantly looking out for our needs. He's a very enthusiastic and trustworthy individual who made our Datong trip truly wonderful and complete! I wanted to share this great experience and recommend it to anyone visiting Datong for the first time or planning a return trip!"

"My child absolutely loved this room! Besides being spacious, it was incredibly well-equipped. They even provided free earplugs and makeup remover wipes, not to mention complimentary tricycles and bicycles for exploring the ancient city. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. And the front desk staff? Their service was exceptional – truly made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast, served on a street in the ancient city, was just a few hundred meters away."

"The hotel rooms were spacious and large, clean and hygienic, with new facilities, voice-controlled smart features, and a well-separated wet and dry area! The breakfast was excellent, there was plenty of drinking water in the room, and the disposable toiletries were all of good quality. The front desk staff were very welcoming and patiently answered many questions. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I come to Datong 😊"

"Overall, the hotel was very good. The room was modern and comfortable, and the staff provided good service. The only downside was the housekeeping quality. On the first day, the room was very clean, but after that, the cleaning was not done properly. It felt like they only removed the trash, and the floor was wiped very superficially — I couldn’t even walk barefoot on it. Some days they provided only one towel, and some days there were no slippers at all. The housekeeping and room supply quality really affected the overall experience, and it matches other reviews mentioning inconsistent cleanliness. 整体来说，酒店各方面都很好，房间现代、设施齐全，工作人员的服务态度也很不错。 唯一的缺点是客房清洁。 第一天入住时房间非常干净，但之后的几天，打扫明显不到位，像是只倒了垃圾，地面也只是随便拖一下，完全不能光脚走路。 有些天只给一条毛巾，有些天甚至没有提供拖鞋。 这样的客房清洁和补给品质，确实影响了住宿体验，也与其他评论中提到的“清洁质量不太好”相符。"

"This hotel is perfectly situated right next to the ancient city. The environment is lovely, and the rooms are well-equipped with modern amenities, including smart voice control for the curtains and TV. You can also cast content from your phone to the TV. Plus, there's free laundry service and a gym. Breakfast is excellent, and the front desk staff are incredibly helpful."

"My stay at Wantu Shirui Homestay during my trip to Datong was a delightful surprise from start to finish, a truly exceptional experience that deserves a rave review! The location is absolutely impeccable. Situated within the ancient city of Datong, it offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. Stepping outside, you're surrounded by vibrant local life; behind closed doors, the peace and quiet are soothing. The main attractions are just a few hundred meters or minutes' walk away – the Prince Dai's Mansion, the Four Archways, and Huayan Temple are all within easy walking distance. The convenient transportation makes sightseeing a breeze. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, with excellent underfloor heating, keeping you warm and cozy. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and even disposable bath towels are thoughtfully provided. The most considerate touch is the filtered drinking water system – no need to buy or boil water, just turn on the tap for a healthy and convenient drink, something many hotels don't offer. Furthermore, the homestay is fully smart-enabled. A simple voice command (”Xiao Ai”) controls the lights, electric curtains, and more, adding a touch of sophistication and technology, making for a very comfortable stay. What impressed me most was the service! I wasn't feeling well on the first day, and after contacting customer service, they were incredibly kind and helpful in arranging a more spacious and comfortable room for us. Their patience and thoughtfulness throughout were truly heartwarming. The customer service was warm and attentive, providing detailed check-in instructions and responding quickly to any needs – they were like family. The guesthouse also boasts a fantastic shared common area with a large table and comfortable chairs, perfect for relaxing, having small gatherings with friends, or chatting. They offer complimentary fruit and snacks, along with a sound system and atmospheric candles, making for photogenic spots and a truly therapeutic place to relax. The value for money is exceptional, including a rich and delicious breakfast. The presentation was beautiful, the taste was excellent, and the selection was comprehensive. If you're still hungry, you can get free refills – you'll be well-fed and satisfied. From start to finish, you can feel the owner's dedication and warmth; they never skimp on service or compromise. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely stay here again."

"The room had excellent natural light and ventilation, was meticulously cleaned, and provided all necessary toiletries. The soundproofing was good, ensuring a undisturbed rest. "Highly recommended. First off, the room is spacious, the facilities are brand new, and the design is really unique. They offer slow charging for electric vehicles, which is super convenient. Their breakfast is a must-try, especially the knife-cut noodles and the lamb offal soup – they're even better than what you'd find outside. Plus, it's incredibly close to Kaige, which is a huge bonus!"

"The location is super close to the ancient city, you can basically bike to all the attractions you want to see there. The environment is great, and the auntie cleans the common areas spotlessly every day. She's also very enthusiastic and gives recommendations for nearby sights. The facilities are complete, and I especially loved having multiple shower stalls! The female dorm even has a dedicated vanity area, which is amazing. The only small issue was that the Wi-Fi on part of the second floor of the female dorm was a bit spotty. I originally booked for four nights, but I loved Datong so much that I extended my stay for another night to get some good rest. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong!"
