Cheap Hotels in Datong

"The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the ancient city. For dining: Xi Jin Dao is downstairs, Fenglin Pavilion is a 10-minute walk, and Long Juxiang offers delivery directly to your phone. Every time we took a taxi back to the inn, we'd get off at Huayan Hotel and walk two minutes. The popular Heshengcai is a 10-minute walk (though the taste was just so-so, and none of the pastries even had an ingredient list). For sights: Huayan Temple is a 5-minute walk. I visited Shanhua Temple at night, which was about a 15-minute walk. During the May Day holiday, there were only about 10 people in the entire temple at night, so we could enjoy a peaceful visit. On the way back and forth, we also saw the city wall's light show and passed through a lantern festival. Rumeng Datong (Dreams of Datong) was also within walking distance. Service was great too. On our last day, we had to leave for the train station at 7:30 AM, and the owner even packed breakfast for us. The lamb offal soup with vermicelli every morning was delicious. The furniture is all elm wood. The loft family room was perfect for our family of three. The only downsides were that the room rate was expensive during May Day, and the bathroom design was a bit impractical."

"This hotel definitely deserves five stars. The rooms are spacious and well-arranged. All the amenities, including the kettle, coffee machine, and even the toiletries, are from well-known brands. The room also features AI voice service, which is very convenient and practical. The entire hotel is exquisitely decorated, with large and luxurious elevators. The hotel isn't far from the ancient city, and there's a Wanda Plaza about 1 kilometer away, making shopping and dining very convenient. The breakfast offers a wide variety of delicious options; it was quite busy during my holiday stay, with most tables full. I booked late and the hotel was fully booked, so I had to wait until the second day to get an available room. It's a highly recommended hotel, and I've already recommended it to many friends."

"Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. "What a pleasant surprise this stay was! (´▽`) The location is excellent, right next to the district government and very close to the ancient city, making it super convenient for getting around. There's a delicious knife-cut noodle place nearby that opens at 6:30 AM, and the Tangjiu convenience store next door also opens early. The first floor has a lovely book bar where you can borrow books for free, and they serve coffee and cocktails – perfect for enjoying a drink while reading. So many interesting books too! I also really loved their decor; the tatami mat rooms have a dedicated reading table, and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. The disposable amenities were comprehensive, and that horse oil toiletries set left me feeling moisturized inside and out (in a good way!). What really stood out during my stay were the front desk ladies. They were all so wonderful, always greeting us warmly when we returned. Their service was incredibly attentive and so heartwarming! 🥺 Any request we had was met quickly. Thanks to them, I've been sleeping so well these past few days 555. I really don't want to leave! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong. I've already highly recommended it to all my friends! (￣∇￣)"

"The hotel's service and environment are absolutely fantastic! The room was spotless, and it had all the amenities you'd expect from a five-star hotel. During our stay, we received complimentary fruits and snacks, and every evening they even brought us pear soup, which was a lovely touch. There are free self-service drinks in the hotel lobby. The hotel price was excellent too! The breakfast spread was incredibly rich, making our stay with a child completely hassle-free. One night, after visiting Hengshan Hanging Temple, my child fell asleep in the car and I couldn't wake them up. The staff member on duty that night was incredibly kind and helped carry my child back to the room! The service here is truly outstanding!!"

"My child absolutely loved this room! Besides being spacious, it was incredibly well-equipped. They even provided free earplugs and makeup remover wipes, not to mention complimentary tricycles and bicycles for exploring the ancient city. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. And the front desk staff? Their service was exceptional – truly made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast, served on a street in the ancient city, was just a few hundred meters away."

"The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance to the center of Datong Ancient City. Fahua Temple, Nine-Dragon Wall, and Huayan Temple are all nearby. Kailu Restaurant inside the ancient city is quite good, while Fengling Pavilion is just okay. The room is spacious and very clean, and they even provided 2 complimentary drinks in the fridge. There's an underground parking garage with free parking; just scan a code when you leave. I personally really enjoyed the lamb offal soup with rice noodles for breakfast, ordered it two days in a row. The fruit was fresh and tasty. If you like street food, there's plenty right across the road, and it seemed quite popular. Overall, highly recommended."

"I was planning to bring my child to Datong this time, and at first, I was worried that since it was located in Dongnanyi, it might be one of those hotels that look great in advertisements but are mediocre in reality. However, it completely exceeded my expectations! The courtyard is beautiful, with water, trees, and lovely scenery. Plus, as soon as we got off the high-speed train, there was a dedicated hotel staff member to pick us up. The business van was very spacious, and the staff was kind and patient. In the room, there was a complimentary fruit platter waiting for us. The service staff were all very attentive and responsible; they even waited for us to return at night. In the morning, they prepared breakfast for us, which was quite delicious. When we left, they even gave us two large bags of souvenirs. We truly experienced service that you wouldn't get at an ordinary hotel. This trip was absolutely worth it! I highly recommend it to everyone!"

It's right next to the ancient city, so you can easily walk around and explore. I specifically requested a room with a view of the ancient city, and the night view was lovely. It's also very close to the scenic spot shuttle bus stop, making it super convenient to get to the Yungang Grottoes, Hanging Temple, and other attractions. Parking is easy, which is great for those arriving by car. You can park at the hotel and then comfortably walk around the ancient city or take the shuttle bus to Datong's famous surrounding attractions. The hotel staff were professional and enthusiastic, especially the lobby manager who was incredibly warm and helpful, offering excellent professional guidance for touring. Many thanks to them. By the way, the food, entertainment, and ancient architecture in Datong Ancient City are truly fantastic – I need to come back!"
