Hotel near Ancient City Tourist Cultural Area,Datong
"Nanshe" is located in the ancient city of Datong, a quiet place amidst the bustle, about 15 minutes' walk from Daiwang's Palace. The hotel is equipped with a whole-house intelligent voice system, whole-house soft water purification and fresh air, large-screen high-definition projection, American Serta zero-pressure mattress, high-end toiletries, smart bathrooms, etc. The hotel combines the quiet style with the history and culture of Datong's Northern Wei Dynasty. The hotel has suitable shades of colors and is unique, fully displaying the beauty of oriental design. Nanshe always adheres to the guest-oriented service concept, VIP access, and the thoughtfulness and thoughtfulness of the private butler are even more meticulous. Friends from afar, if you come to Pingcheng from afar, you can follow Xu Xiake's footsteps and visit Beiyue Hengshan to visit the thousand-year-old "Xuankong" temple. You can also explore Buddhist art and encounter the "Yungang Grottoes". I dreamed of going back to the Liao and Jin Dynasties to visit the ancient temple "Huayan". Then walking to the Nine Dragons Wall, King Zhu Di of Yan was shocked by the brilliance of the Nine Dragons. This pearl from the Liao and Jin Dynasties shone from the Ming Dynasty to the present.

"Thanks to Nanshe, our trip to Datong was incredibly enjoyable and pleasant, offering a sense of security just like home. The guesthouse is located inside the ancient Datong city wall, which is an excellent location, making it very convenient to visit famous attractions and long-standing restaurants, all within walking distance. The room was clean, tidy, and well-arranged—small yet cozy. We even had foreign guests in the room opposite ours 😉. The two housekeeper sisters provided attentive and responsive service, always ready to offer advice. On our first day, they recommended the nearby Dongfang Xiaomian restaurant, a local favorite for sliced noodles; you can't go wrong with anything you order there! 😁 On our second day in Datong, we experienced a sandstorm, a rare experience for someone from the coast. We stayed at Nanshe for three days, and because of Nanshe, I fell in love with Datong."

The toiletries and other amenities were of very high quality, and there was even a free mini-bar! Breakfast started at 6:30 AM, with a full selection of delicious dishes. It's about a 10-minute walk from the old town."

This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season."

"Stepping into Datong Ancient City in the afternoon, the first pleasant surprise was stumbling upon Renyi Inn. The inn's antique courtyard, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and warm red lanterns, instantly brought a sense of calm. The family who runs the inn is incredibly humble and kind, their conversations warm and thoughtful, making you feel right at home. What's even more admirable is their exceptional care for animals; the inn is like a mini-zoo. They treat every little creature with gentleness and patience, which in turn fills the entire courtyard with life and spirit. Upon entering, a majestic grey parrot, both poised and lively, greeted me from the front desk – I'd never seen such a large pet parrot before! Two smaller parrots chirped happily nearby, completely unafraid of strangers, lively and adorable. Outside my room was a small courtyard with two tea tables. After a 'special forces'-style day of temple hopping, when I was tired to the point of tears, sitting there enjoying a cup of tea was incredibly relaxing. In the adjacent fish pond, a dozen or so vibrant koi, each weighing at least two to three pounds, swam gracefully, their bodies stretching elegantly. Next to the pond, a large and a small tortoise slowly ambled, quiet and therapeutic. In a corner cage, a tiny grey squirrel darted around, agile and playful. As dusk fell, watching the lights reflect on the pond and listening to the soft sounds of the small animals, the weariness of travel seemed to melt away in this gentle atmosphere, leaving my heart filled with peace and healing. I thought this wonderful experience was complete, but to my surprise, a new delight awaited me the next morning – two peacocks, 'Wenqing' (blue and white) and 'Xiaofeng' (emerald green), strolled leisurely in the courtyard with their magnificent tails fanned out – yes, they even have names! The eye-spots on their tail feathers shimmered, as if they were wearing the entire starry sky, beautiful like something straight out of an ancient painting. For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was in an inn or a secret wonderland. Renyi Inn is far more than just a place to stay; it's a hidden gem within the ancient city. The harmonious coexistence of people and animals creates a warm and healing atmosphere, adding countless gentle and delightful moments to this journey."

This Datong hotel provides parking on site. Our guests rate this hotel as one of the best hotels for cleanliness. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"The hotel's facilities are excellent, but the service was extremely disappointing. I specifically booked a large suite for four days to relax and chat with friends and play cards. However, two unfriendly guests next door fabricated stories, claiming we knocked on the wrong door and made noise. In reality, we were always careful to keep quiet. Despite this, the hotel, without verifying the facts, sent staff to disturb us multiple times in the middle of the night—they opened our door three times and we received a phone call. To prove our innocence, we even went to the surveillance room and confirmed from the footage that we never knocked on the wrong door. Overall, the hotel's handling and resolution of disputes were quite unprofessional."

"This hotel is located within the ancient city walls and has its own restaurant, serving a good breakfast. I booked a Ryan twin room this time, which had an external window that could be opened – great for when it got too warm at night. The hotel is just across the street from Huayan Temple and isn't far from popular spots like Xijin Dao, Fengling Pavilion, and Zini 369, making it super convenient for getting around. They even offered extra bottles of water at check-in. The cleaning staff not only tidied up but also folded my pajamas, which was a lovely touch."

The Yungang Jianguo Hotel (Datong Yungang Jianguo Binguan) offers various rooms furnished with 32-inch LCD TVs, DVD players, plush bedding, upscale furniture and free broadband internet access. Each suite has laptops and two bathrooms equipped with jacuzzis and LCD TVs. For recreation, the karaoke hall and the nightclub are good to dance the night away and socialize with friends. Sporty guests can take advantage of the table tennis, billiards, fitness center and indoor swimming pool on offer. In addition, the hotel also offers a variety of massage, sauna and spa services.

"The service attitude was exceptionally good. When a line started forming for check-in, more staff immediately came to the front desk to assist. They also offer late check-out. The room service was impeccable, and they provided a crib. There were complimentary welcome fruits. The breakfast selection was quite rich, including knife-cut noodles and freshly ground coffee at the counter. The overall environment was very good, fitting the description of an older, established five-star hotel. I requested a non-smoking room in advance, and indeed, there was no smoke smell. The bathroom drain didn't have any unpleasant odors either; generally, there were no strange smells. The window could be opened, which at least prevented stuffiness. In late May, after 8 PM, the air conditioning could be turned on for cooling. The shower water pressure was excellent, which was a big plus. The family deluxe suite had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a connecting door, which was the main reason I chose this hotel. The room size was ample. The only downside was that the mattress was too soft. The hairdryer was a Dyson model, and the sink was large enough for three people to use simultaneously. The soundproofing was good, and overall, I was very satisfied. The cleanliness was also up to standard. I had read reviews about staff helping with luggage, and traveling by car with an infant, I was really hoping for some assistance. However, no one was at the parking lot. Perhaps this service isn't available unless there's special weather. Parking was very convenient though."

"I will objectively describe this true stay experience, detailing the hotel's hardware advantages and terrible service, writing a scathing Ctrip review in a genuine and straightforward tone to fully express my dissatisfaction. Top-tier hardware, abysmal service, completely ruining the stay experience! Choose with caution. Objectively speaking, this Wyndham hotel's facilities are definitely among the best in Datong. The rooms and amenities are flawless. I had high expectations for the hardware experience, but the entire stay was ruined by the extremely poor service. I'm giving a bad review, no room for negotiation. I came to check in on a Monday lunchtime, not a holiday. The hotel, along with Yun'gang Hotel, was hosting a conference that day, so there was already a significant flow of guests. However, only one front desk counter was open, and there were seven or eight people in front of me. I waited a full ten minutes before it was my turn. Just when it was finally my turn, a female staff member in a black suit, who seemed to be a supervisor, suddenly came over. She didn't make eye contact with me the entire time, didn't even say a polite ”Please wait,” but instead just curtly said ”Wait a moment.” Then she proceeded to operate the front desk computer, completely ignoring me and not saying a word, leaving me standing there for a full 5 minutes, feeling awkward and speechless. After she finished and walked away, I was completely bewildered. I went up and asked why she wasn't checking me in. She actually said she was handling check-ins for the conference attendees. I immediately got angry and asked her why she didn't tell me upfront that she was only serving conference guests, making me wait for nothing. She, in turn, self-righteously replied, ”How was I supposed to know you weren't a conference attendee?” Conference attendees were clearly wearing their exclusive badges. As a lobby staff member, is she incapable of even the most basic observation and distinction? Her attitude was arrogant and contemptuous throughout, and she didn't even offer an apology. When I questioned her terrible service attitude, she completely ignored me and just walked away. Paying the same price, should regular individual guests be treated with such neglect and disregard? As a high-end hotel, are these the service standards and communication skills of the lobby staff? They completely disrespect customers and lack basic service awareness. How exactly does this hotel conduct its employee training? I stayed here for two days, and I don't want to say anything else. Just because of this terrible check-in experience, no matter how good the hardware is, I will definitely not come back. I also advise anyone looking for a comfortable stay to choose with caution! If the service doesn't keep up, even the best hardware is meaningless. Service: Too poor"

"Having stayed in numerous high-end hotels over the years, this one truly deserves a heartfelt five-star rating from me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's an established five-star hotel. I specifically booked a city-view room. It's just over 1 kilometer from the ancient city, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The room was spacious, bright, and comfortable. Every day, they'd send fresh fruit and a warm pear soup. They were clearly concerned about the dry climate in Datong. From the moment I entered the room, all my needs were met – truly thoughtful service. Housekeeping was incredibly efficient. We had some food that needed freezing, and honestly, we'd forgotten about it ourselves when checking out. The hotel lobby and housekeeping department had seamless communication, quickly reminding us. Their responsiveness was truly impressive! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The breakfast was unexpectedly delicious 😋. It had a Western bar feel, and both the Chinese and Western options were great. No unnecessary frills or those annoying pre-made dishes. The various stir-fried vegetables – shredded potatoes, tofu, straw mushrooms, and cabbage – were all incredibly tasty. The fried rice, especially the egg, was delicious on its own, and the stir-fried udon noodles were also good. The large Chinese crullers were freshly fried by the hotel, and there was a chef hand-shaving noodles right there, which looked and smelled amazing. I absolutely loved the preserved egg and lean pork congee and the eight-treasure congee. The steamed carrots 🥕 were surprisingly good; at first, I wondered why they were there, but then I discovered how sweet they were. You really have to try the steamed potatoes and carrots here. The bread selection was exceptionally well-made, far superior to what you find in many five-star hotels in my home city of Beijing, no exaggeration. The whole wheat bread, dinner rolls, croissants, chocolate cake, and brownies were all of a high standard. You could tell immediately that they were made by professional pastry chefs using excellent flour. The cheese 🧀 here was also very good. All the fruit salads were incredibly fresh, and there was even a honeycomb! It went perfectly with the milk and cereal. They had a wide and thoughtful variety of cereals, no skimping there. Oh, and they also offer supper service! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 BTW, there's a swimming pool on the 10th floor that the kids absolutely adored. Every single aspect of our stay demonstrated their thoughtful and impeccable service. Wishing the hotel great prosperity, and I'll definitely be back!"

"Visited Datong with my parents during the May Day holiday. **Environment:** The hotel's location is excellent. It's just a 10-minute walk to the ancient city. Downstairs, you'll find Beiwei Jiayan and Hongya Restaurant, and Lao Chai Noodles is only five minutes away. **Facilities:** The hotel is quite new and very well-maintained. Both my parents found their stay very comfortable. The front desk staff were also very welcoming and even gave us some local Datong specialty souvenirs. The hotel's breakfast was great, with a wide variety of options, including freshly made local specialties like刀削面 (daoxiao mian, knife-cut noodles) and lamb offal soup."
