"My biggest surprise on this trip to Datong was definitely this hotel. As a hotel enthusiast, I really couldn't find much to fault (though the pool water wasn't quite warm enough – a minor imperfection, I suppose). First off, the location is superb, right by the ancient city wall. You step out and the city wall is right across the street, and Southeast Yip is just next door. Taking a stroll in the evening couldn't be more convenient! Everything is close by, and getting a taxi is easy. Secondly, the hotel itself is stunning and impeccably clean, perfect for photos. The hotel feels like a work of art, beautifully designed, blending classical aesthetics with modern design. It also does an excellent job of protecting guest privacy; outside photographers can't just wander in. It's incredibly tranquil; even though it's fully booked every day, you rarely run into other guests, offering great privacy. I slept wonderfully. Then there are the top-tier amenities. All the luxuries you'd expect from a high-end hotel are here. Everything in the minibar, except for the red wine, is complimentary – there's so much you can't possibly drink it all. Every day, they offer different fresh fruits, nuts, and a goodnight dessert, plus complimentary coffee. The complimentary afternoon tea is very generous and aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast selection is extensive and delicious! And the service, it's simply outstanding, scoring almost full marks for attention to detail. There are plenty of staff members, and they respond incredibly quickly. They even deliver takeout to your room. If I had to pick a flaw, it's that it's quite expensive. But overall, it was definitely worth it. If I come to Datong again, I'd choose this hotel without hesitation."

"Seriously, this is how a five-star hotel should be! The bed was so soft I didn't want to leave, and the service was so thoughtful it really touched me. The soundproofing was absolutely top-notch, I slept until noon undisturbed. Breakfast was incredibly filling, and the value for money was outstanding. The soundproofing was excellent; even a thunderstorm outside didn't disturb my sleep. 2. **Excellent Location:** The hotel boasts a prime location. You can see the city wall right outside, there are plenty of dining options nearby, getting a taxi is convenient, and it's easy to buy local specialties. 3. **Friendly and Attentive Staff:** From the front desk to room service and dinner staff, everyone was very enthusiastic and tried their best to meet guests' needs. 4. **Good Breakfast with Variety:** The breakfast tasted good and offered a wide variety of fruits. There were many kid-friendly options like steamed vegetables, eggs, various porridges, bread, and yogurt. They also had freshly cooked lamb offal noodles and刀削面 (daoxiao mian - knife-cut noodles). **Areas for Improvement:** 1. **Room Cleanliness and Facilities:** The cleanliness of the room needs improvement, especially the bedsheets. The facilities are quite old; cups showed visible wear. The carpet had noticeable and numerous stains, and the children's play facilities were barely cleaned. The electronic piano was very dirty, and there was dried snot (鼻gaga) on the tent's carpet, which made my child hesitant to go inside. 2. **Lobby Congestion:** The hotel hosts many weddings and birthday banquets, and this mixes with regular guests, making the lobby quite chaotic. 3. **Inconvenient Accessibility from Parking:** It was very inconvenient to get from the parking lot to the lobby with luggage and a stroller. There was no accessible ramp; the side entrance had high steps, and reaching the main entrance required walking further and navigating through the driveway."

I stayed here for two days, and the breakfast selection was extensive, they delivered fresh fruit to the room daily, and the room hygiene was excellent. The staff were also very friendly. A special shout-out to the bespectacled uncle who served lamb offal soup and fried eggs at the breakfast entrance – his service was exceptionally good, and he enthusiastically encouraged us to try the lamb offal soup, which tasted great. "The room was quite spacious, and the soundproofing was excellent. I kept hearing firecrackers, though I'm not sure where they were coming from. However, there were far too many mirrors in the room, which would be awkward if you're staying with friends. There's also no partition when you step out of the shower to change. On the plus side, the in-room fridge had complimentary drinks, and there was a generous supply of water and towels. The hotel is located in the new city, about a 10-minute drive from the old city, with a taxi ride costing under ¥15. The hotel's Fenglin Pavilion restaurant was decent. As for the hotel itself, it lacks entertainment facilities, and the breakfast was terrible, absolutely terrible. While there seemed to be a lot of options, everything was unappetizing, with nothing good to eat. Every morning, almost 2,000 people had breakfast, sharing a hall with the Wyndham hotel, and the food on both sides was identical. It felt like pig feed. The ingredients were very poor, definitely not up to five-star hotel standards. Not a single dish was good. This hotel is suitable for business trips, but it falls short for family vacations."

"The room was great, on the 21st floor, directly facing Yongtai Gate, offering a good view of the ancient city's layout. They also provided 4 bottles of high-quality spring water in the room. Breakfast was rich, including Cantonese options. On the day we left, we asked the front desk for a late check-out until 3 PM, and they agreed. Even though it's an older five-star hotel, it still maintains its quality. Very good. And it's convenient to get to the ancient city."

The room facilities are new, but there's a minor issue: the sink and shower are in separate areas, and the bath towels are kept under the sink. This makes it inconvenient to grab a towel after showering. If you take it into the shower beforehand, there's nowhere to hang it. Perhaps a hook could be added?"
