"Out of the three hotels I stayed at during this Bali trip, Maya Ubud was definitely the best value for money. There were also a lot of Chinese guests, which just goes to show that 'what Chinese people love, usually can't go wrong.' The hotel's overall environment is fantastic, full of lush greenery. The walkway directly facing the lobby feels quite grand, with lawns and coconut trees on both sides – perfect for photos. There's also a forest trail along the river, but the steps are quite slippery, so I wouldn't recommend it for the elderly or young children. While the hotel's rice terrace views aren't massive, they're pretty similar to what you'd find at outside attractions. Breakfast was decent too, a combination of à la carte and buffet, and you can enjoy the scenery while you eat. There were even evening performances during dinner, and while I didn't understand them, they certainly added to the atmosphere. The sandwiches and salads at TREE BAR are substantial and make for a great light meal. The hotel's pool isn't huge, but it wasn't crowded, and the cliffside pool offers amazing views. However, during our stay, the room phone was constantly out of order, and one of the bedside lamps wasn't working. I'd suggest the hotel conduct a more thorough check of all in-room facilities before guests check in, to ensure everything is in proper working order."
