Great
MMia0307Practical location, but disappointing breakfast and service We stayed here the night before an early morning flight, and the location couldn’t be more convenient – just a short walk to the terminal. The rooms are clean and functionally furnished. However, the staff could be more welcoming; the service feels very transactional, as if guests are just passing through. What really disappointed us was the breakfast. While it’s a paid extra, the early breakfast offering (from 4 AM) was extremely minimal – even less than what you’d expect from a basic Holiday Inn Express. It felt like cost-saving was the main priority, not guest satisfaction. A convenient place to sleep before a flight, but don’t expect much beyond that.

AAnna E AdamsFantastic location being so close to the Castle, old and new town. Rooms are beautifully designed, clean and cosy. It’s so handy having a kitchen in the room to self cater when needed. We’ve loved visiting Edinburgh and will definitely book to stay here again.

XXiaohaigou666My friend and I stayed at InterContinental Edinburgh The George, and it was truly wonderful. The hotel is elegant, and the city of Edinburgh is just amazing. A special shout-out to Frank in the lobby—I've stayed in quite a few hotels, and I can honestly say he's one of the best. He takes the time to connect with guests, remembers you, and offers help with genuine kindness. He really made our stay even more memorable.

GGuest UserThe time required to walk from the train station to the hotel is about 20 mins. There are some stores near the hotel. There are 2 floors for the hotel. We live in a room on the 1st floor. The size is decent and the equipment is sufficient. However, the window is at the height of a peoples's head. The people outside can easily look into the room and privacy is a issue. Also, there are some problems in the bathroom. The light in the bathroom is automatic and this is a disadvantage. When I sit on the toilet, the sensor in the bathroom cannot detect my movement and will turn the light off every minute. It will be a lot better if I can switch the lights on manually. Also, the method of changing the temperature of the shower is very unhuman. Overall, it is a fine aparthotel but there are some problems

PPeter 佛系游客Good points: The location is perfect, city centre. Service is above average. We had the breakfasts, not buffet style but actually v good. Al carte style, not easy to over eat.walking distance to a lot of attractions and starting points of local tours. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. Above average. Check in. Check out smooth. Although my family of 4 while in UK, would book 2 rooms, recently, probably for the fun of the booking staff (definitely felt intentional) or the inadequacy of the computers, our family would be placed in 2 rooms in different floors, this time it DID NOT HAPPEN. So special thanks to W hotel for making this normal request come true. Not good points: Although nothing wrong with artificial friendliness, however, when all our luggage was delayed by British Airway, and there was a reasonable line in check in. The reception staff maybe could cut down the chatting with the guests and focused in doing the job and checking us in quicker. House keeping was below average, dirty glasses were not cleaned or replaced for TWO days. However this was not uncommon in UK in general. Breakfast ordering in the restaurant, orders were missed twice but actually above average in UK. Reminder: The hotel slippers were nice. Available on request, they would pretend the slippers were in the rooms, they would be available when requested Free. Thanks.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location in Edinburgh was a bit out of the way, not being in the city center. Our room was on the lower ground floor, directly beneath the breakfast area. In the mornings, the scraping and movement of chairs from guests having breakfast upstairs created very jarring noises in our room, which was enough to wake us up. Judging by the bathroom facilities, it seemed we were assigned an accessible room.

MMuthu_7I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, modern, and well-maintained, offering exactly what you’d expect—comfortable rooms and great value for money. The location is a good. Being right beside the waterfront gives the area a relaxed feel and public transport links into the city centre are convenient, making it easy to explore Edinburgh without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The breakfast was a nice touch—simple but satisfying, with plenty of hot and cold options to start the day. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Check-in and check-out were both quick and efficient. Overall, Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront is a great choice if you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable stay with easy access to both Leith and central Edinburgh. I’d happily stay again.

NNickRZLoved the breakfasts! Normal fry up one day, haggis the next! We had an early start to go to the Highlands, but breakfast was all ready at 630am. Were even allowed to take some fruit and pastries away for the trip. Staff helpful, ordered our taxi. They were not too clued up on getting the transport into the city, this would be helpful as we are easily 30 minutes away from the centre. I would avoid getting the tram in and out of the city as the distance to the Gateway or Gyle Centre stop is a little far and unless you know where the hotel actually is, then it gets frustrating going the wrong way to get there. TIP:- From Gateway go under the bridge (well lit) and turn left to go up some steps (not ideal with suitcases) to get onto Glasgow Road, head past B&M then you can see the hotel. From Gyle Centre head towards Glasgow Road (dont try to navigate around the shopping centre just head to Morrisons and the main road - the other way you are trapped with no access to cross the railway line!) - go up the stairs and head towards B&M. If you are lucky enough to read this, then I have saved you 40 minutes and 2 miles of frustration! Some buses are cheaper than others (X38 was 1 quid for adults, kids were free)(100 is the airport bus - expensive)(31 was similar to tram price 2.20gbp for adults, 1.10gbp for kids).

GGuest UserThe room was much better than expected, clean and comfortable. Self-service check-in and check-out were quick and convenient. If you don't know how to use it, you can call and ask for patient guidance. If you don't know how to use the access control, you can ask the staff. The location is far from the city center and various attractions, about 30 minutes walk, but you can take the bus. In summary, it is still a good choice. After all, hotels in Edinburgh are crazy expensive. I will stay in this hotel again.
