MMia0307Practical location, but disappointing breakfast and service
We stayed here the night before an early morning flight, and the location couldn’t be more convenient – just a short walk to the terminal. The rooms are clean and functionally furnished. However, the staff could be more welcoming; the service feels very transactional, as if guests are just passing through.
What really disappointed us was the breakfast. While it’s a paid extra, the early breakfast offering (from 4 AM) was extremely minimal – even less than what you’d expect from a basic Holiday Inn Express. It felt like cost-saving was the main priority, not guest satisfaction.
A convenient place to sleep before a flight, but don’t expect much beyond that.

XXiaohaigou666My friend and I stayed at InterContinental Edinburgh The George, and it was truly wonderful. The hotel is elegant, and the city of Edinburgh is just amazing. A special shout-out to Frank in the lobby—I've stayed in quite a few hotels, and I can honestly say he's one of the best. He takes the time to connect with guests, remembers you, and offers help with genuine kindness. He really made our stay even more memorable.

GGuest UserI stayed in courtyard by Marriot, Baxter place for 6 days, as a solo senior female traveler and I highly recommend this hotel.
Staff were all friendly, patient , attentive and courteous. They answered all questions with a smile , advising & assisting in whatever way they could. Counter is manned 24h.
Room was clean & spacious, very comfortable bed and pillows, a large work table with plugs nearby and comfortable chair, walk in shower with easily adjustable water temperature. (A small recommendation would be to pad the table legs as can be quite painful if you accidentally kicked it.)
Housekeeping was consistent and unobtrusive.
Staff oriented me on how to adjust room heating and cooling when asked.
There are 2 lifts and a ramp at entrance for those worried about dragging their luggages.
Although I didn’t patronize but knowing there was an in-house restaurant and room service was reassuring for those wet cold or tired days when you don’t feel like venturing out. There’s also a small market for essentials. Ice cubes & a microwave is also available.
Technical support came quickly when I wasn’t sure regarding door lock system.
Location is excellent, within 5 min walk of Picardy tram line stop which is a cheap and convenient means to & from Edinburgh Airport.
Hotel is about 10-15 min walk to Princess street with many restaurants within 3-5 min walk. The playhouse theater is just next door.
I am so happy to have chosen your hotel-Thank you for your services and support. Special shoutout to Zheni and Yura.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location in Edinburgh was a bit out of the way, not being in the city center. Our room was on the lower ground floor, directly beneath the breakfast area. In the mornings, the scraping and movement of chairs from guests having breakfast upstairs created very jarring noises in our room, which was enough to wake us up. Judging by the bathroom facilities, it seemed we were assigned an accessible room.

MMuthu_7I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, modern, and well-maintained, offering exactly what you’d expect—comfortable rooms and great value for money.
The location is a good. Being right beside the waterfront gives the area a relaxed feel and public transport links into the city centre are convenient, making it easy to explore Edinburgh without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The breakfast was a nice touch—simple but satisfying, with plenty of hot and cold options to start the day.
Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Check-in and check-out were both quick and efficient.
Overall, Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront is a great choice if you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable stay with easy access to both Leith and central Edinburgh. I’d happily stay again.
LLadySaharaThe apartment was in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to Princes Street and a little further up the hill to the castle. We had a one bedroom apartment, was great to have the extra space. Unfortunately we were in the basement so had no natural light and had to keep lights on all the time. Due to the age of the building and being at the bottom the pump for the water was a bit unreliable and almost flooded the bathroom by not draining the water. We were woken up at 3am by the pump going every 34 seconds for over an hour (we timed it). Having a large fridge and microwave was handy and had we been staying longer could have made use of the washer and dryer. Overall we would stay again, but only if we were above ground.

PPeter 佛系游客Good points: The location is perfect, city centre. Service is above average. We had the breakfasts, not buffet style but actually v good. Al carte style, not easy to over eat.walking distance to a lot of attractions and starting points of local tours.
Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. Above average.
Check in. Check out smooth.
Although my family of 4 while in UK, would book 2 rooms, recently, probably for the fun of the booking staff (definitely felt intentional) or the inadequacy of the computers, our family would be placed in 2 rooms in different floors, this time it DID NOT HAPPEN. So special thanks to W hotel for making this normal request come true.
Not good points: Although nothing wrong with artificial friendliness, however, when all our luggage was delayed by British Airway, and there was a reasonable line in check in. The reception staff maybe could cut down the chatting with the guests and focused in doing the job and checking us in quicker.
House keeping was below average, dirty glasses were not cleaned or replaced for TWO days. However this was not uncommon in UK in general.
Breakfast ordering in the restaurant, orders were missed twice but actually above average in UK.
Reminder: The hotel slippers were nice. Available on request, they would pretend the slippers were in the rooms, they would be available when requested Free.
Thanks.

WWongyanbebiiSelf-service check-in is convenient and luggage can be stored. Check-in is at 3 o'clock. If a room is available, you can check-in at 1 o'clock earlier. Very good! The hotel has electrical manuals that are easy to understand. I cooked meals for two days. It’s great to have a dishwasher! The washing machine also has an arch-drying function, which allows us to put away our clothes faster! The location is quiet and prosperous. It is very convenient to the attractions. It is worth recommending!

GGuest UserThe room was much better than expected, clean and comfortable. Self-service check-in and check-out were quick and convenient. If you don't know how to use it, you can call and ask for patient guidance. If you don't know how to use the access control, you can ask the staff. The location is far from the city center and various attractions, about 30 minutes walk, but you can take the bus.
In summary, it is still a good choice. After all, hotels in Edinburgh are crazy expensive. I will stay in this hotel again.
