"it was a great experience. The ambiance was very nice 24 seven there was a receptionist and also the cleanliness was good and food is also good. I would highly recommend someone who is visiting Edinburgh to stay there because it’s closer to the town. It’s very affordable and and one of the best places to be around very close to the Dean village as well."

"The hotel isn't far from Edinburgh Castle, about 5 bus stops away or an 8-pound Uber ride. The environment is really good. It seems to be a hotel associated with an exchange center at the University of Edinburgh, consisting of several three or four-story buildings. My room was in an older building next door, which had premium rooms. The room size was moderate, very clean and tidy, and the shower was comparable to a star-rated hotel in China. Facilities were complete, including a coffee machine.
What's particularly worth recommending is the breakfast; it's à la carte! You can choose from classic Scottish breakfast haggis sets, vegetarian haggis sets, and more. It's genuinely excellent; I almost wanted to extend my stay for a couple more days just to try everything, haha."

"Overall it was a nice stay but it was a mixed experience.
What we loved
- The room was lovely, we were really happy with the amenities available in the room. We booked a studio and it came with 2 double beds, good kitchen amenities, large bathroom, washer and dryer and a pretty cool skylight with a black out blind (we were in room 411 on the 4th floor)
- Staff were lovely and polite
- Location was ideal as it wasn't too far from the station and had plenty of shops, cafes and Christmas activities around.
What we didn't like
- The room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped. One of the rooms has dust behind the door and the vents for the A/C needed dusting.
- There was a little confusion over whether I'd paid, I paid beforehand with Trip.com and it didn't register with them, so they asked for me to pay when checking in, if I hadn't checked I may have needed too. (Also if you're booking, it may be worth going direct as there was a nearly £30 difference between the price I paid through trip.com and what I was 'invoiced' following our stay)
- They ran out of shampoo and it had clearly been filled up with water to compensate (not major but if you're paying nearly £200 a night these are the small details I'd expect to be addressed
-Finally, this one is for the staff, you have a cool radio in the room in 411 but please check the plug socket as is cuts out and you can hear the electricity buzzing when you plug the socket in.
Didn't have any noise issues and I would definitely stay again, though I don't think I'd pay the price I did for it again. (Hotel was charging £158.95, Trip.com charged me £183)"

"Great location, easy parking and lovely helpful staff, but glad we got a good deal on the room as ours was looking very tired and could have done with a new carpet. I would have been disappointed with the room if I had paid nearly £200 for it."

"The hotel facilities were decent, and the room itself was quite spacious. The front desk staff were very patient; upon check-in, I mentioned my preferred room location, and they patiently discussed it with me. We were on the second floor, though I imagine higher floors would offer better views. There's a large supermarket nearby. The bathroom had a bathtub, but the toilet area felt a bit cramped. The hotel was very clean.
The main drawback is that it's a bit far from the city center. A taxi to Princes Street cost us around £8-£10, while a bus fare is a little over £2. For groups, a taxi is more cost-effective. The journey typically takes about 10-20 minutes.
Breakfast was a decent English buffet, with options like bacon, scrambled eggs, bread, and juice. They offered both firm and soft pillows, which was a thoughtful touch.
After checking out on the second day, we stored our luggage at the Scottish National Gallery. It cost £2 for a locker token, and you could store items until 5 PM. The locker was spacious enough for a 20-inch carry-on suitcase plus a backpack. The gallery is very close to the train station, which was very convenient as it meant we didn't have to return to the hotel to collect our luggage after exploring the city center."

"Check in was handled professionally and the receptionist went on extra miles to share places of interest to visit and where to go for food and how.
Rooms were spotless, spacious with adequate amnesties provided.
If I were to visit Edinburgh again, I would know where to stay now."

"Nice service but need improvement on cleanliness and maintenance. When we arrived at our room, we see a bunch of flies flying above the bed because of the opened window. The staff at the reception soon replaced it with an upgraded room. Room is nice but there’s mould in shower and bed sheet wasn’t perfectly fitted. Also the window of the room cannot be securely closed and locked."

JJay-PeeMy Stay at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket: Modern Comfort in Scotland's Capital
Just returned from a quick overnight at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket and wanted to share my experience! At £146.13 for the night, it offered a sleek, contemporary stay in one of the UK's most beautiful cities.
The location at 152 Morrison Street (EH3 8EB) is absolutely spot-on. Situated in the Haymarket area, it puts you within easy reach of Edinburgh's major attractions while being slightly removed from the tourist crowds. The area has excellent transport links, with Haymarket station nearby, making it perfect for exploring both the historic Old Town and the elegant New Town.
I stayed for **one night from Wednesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 24, 2025**. The flexible check-in window (3 PM until midnight) was super convenient for my travel schedule, and the 11 AM check-out gave me enough time to get ready without feeling rushed the next morning.
The hotel itself has a modern, minimalist aesthetic (visible in the booking thumbnail), which carried through to my room. Everything was clean, well-designed, and efficiently laid out. Point A is known for their smart, space-saving rooms that focus on quality essentials rather than unnecessary frills – perfect for city explorers who plan to spend most of their time out and about.
What I appreciated was the **upfront pricing** – the £146.13 covered everything with no hidden extras. I should note that I opted for a non-refundable rate to get the best price, which was clearly explained during booking. The Trip.com process was straightforward, and their price match and stay guarantee added extra peace of mind.
The app's ”Message Property” and ”Call Property” features were handy when I needed to confirm the parking situation nearby. Being able to communicate directly through the app made planning much easier.
Is it a sprawling luxury hotel with extensive facilities? No, but that's not what Point A aims to be. It delivers exactly what it promises: a smart, comfortable, well-located base for exploring Edinburgh at a fair price point.
**Would I recommend it?** Absolutely! If you're looking for a modern, no-nonsense place to stay in Edinburgh with excellent location and clean, comfortable rooms, Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket is an excellent choice. Perfect for solo travelers, couples, or anyone wanting a quality city break without overspending on accommodation.

GGuest UserAmazing staff. Friendly people and always addressed me as sir even though I am really young. That was really professional of them. One of the persons was an elderly man and he addressed me as sir even though I am wayyyy younger than him. That was really nice and humble of him. Truly appreciate it.
Breakfast was amazing. Lots of food choices and tasty food. Location is brilliant. The room I had was overlooking princes street and the view was amazing. The room was also very clean and well maintained.
Perhaps the only thing that can be improved is ventilation in the bathroom as there was no extractor fan (or maybe I didn’t know how to use it xd) the air conditioning too kept turning off after every 45 mins which was slightly annoying but the hotel had provided me with a fan in my room so no major issues anyway.
Overall it was a great experience and would definitely recommend

YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good!
The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle.
The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍

XXiaohaigou666My friend and I stayed at InterContinental Edinburgh The George, and it was truly wonderful. The hotel is elegant, and the city of Edinburgh is just amazing. A special shout-out to Frank in the lobby—I've stayed in quite a few hotels, and I can honestly say he's one of the best. He takes the time to connect with guests, remembers you, and offers help with genuine kindness. He really made our stay even more memorable.

GGuest UserWhen I was checking in for help, my attitude was very bad and I was impatient. And when I got back to the hotel at the end of the tour, the door was closed. And I don't have access to the password, and no one ever told me the password! Calling customer service won't fix the problem either. It kept me standing outside for 20 minutes.

HHunnyExplore1. Location, Location, Location
• It’s hard to beat this hotel for central Edinburgh. Right on North Bridge, you’re a stone’s throw from Waverley Station, the Royal Mile, shops, restaurants, and many of the city’s major sights.
• Great for walking everywhere; you don’t need transport for many of the main attractions.
2. Room Size & Basics
• Many guests say the rooms are more spacious than you might expect in a city‑centre hotel.
• Clean, with decent bathrooms, functional furniture, and most have good views (though that depends on the side you’re on).
3. Quality of Bed & Sleep Amenities
• Beds often get praise for being comfortable (though not universally). TVs, desks, kettles etc. are standard and work well.
4. Restaurant / Lounge / Public Areas
• Decent lounge with a good drinks menu, good public areas, attractive décor in common spaces.
• The steakhouse (Marco Pierre White) is a draw for many visitors.

Ssib-elThe room itself was clean, but the surrounding areas were not as good. The showers on my side were not even there so we had use our neighbors and there was one day in which there was no hot water at all. The one bathroom we had in our area had to light and was smelly most of the time. Again, the room was clean and did not smell, it was also huge so everyone had plenty of room for everything. The staff was super friendly I can’t complain about that and they also had the best washing machines and dryers ever. The location is pretty central but there is no elevator so if you get a room on the 4th floor that’s gonna be rough.

FFatima IssaA Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended!
My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the warmth of the staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we both got a restful night’s sleep.
What truly stood out, however, was the level of service. I was feeling a bit under the weather during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing breakfast directly to our room, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. This level of care really goes a long way in making guests feel valued.
For those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast with a bit of fresh air, the hotel also has a charming terrace where you can take your meal while soaking in the surroundings. It's the perfect way to start the day if you want to enjoy a bit of sunshine.
The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to the city center, making it easy to explore, and for those who prefer not to walk, a quick 5-minute bus ride will take you wherever you need to go.
The lounge area at the hotel is another highlight. It’s spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with blankets to keep guests comfortable if the temperature drops. It provided the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The combination of comfort, thoughtful service, and a prime location makes it a top choice. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!
