"The absolute best thing about this hotel is the service! We checked in late at night, tired and cold after getting off the train. Isabel at the front desk was incredibly thoughtful, preparing various hot drinks for us, and cookies and teddy bears for the kids. She personally escorted us to our room, engaging in such a warm and fun interaction with my two children along the way that they absolutely adored her! During our conversation, Isabel learned about the kids' favorite colors and toys. The next evening, she even came to our room to deliver gifts for them, which made the kids incredibly happy! My older daughter repeatedly told me to make sure to give a huge shout-out to the lovely Isabel! The hotel's location is also great, convenient for both the train station and the attractions in the Old Town. The breakfast restaurant offers a nice view as well."

"Although the absolute price was a bit high, the value for money was excellent! The space was huge, equivalent to two bedrooms with bathtubs, plus an oversized living room, hallway, and walk-in closet. Gin, whiskey, vodka, cola, designated beers, and other drinks were all free to enjoy. There was twice-daily housekeeping service, and coffee capsules were refilled constantly. I was very satisfied. However, the hotel overall felt a bit dated. The main entrance surprisingly didn't lead to the lobby; it seemed to be more focused on dining and the spa. The actual lobby was hidden on the basement level with no signs."

"As a location, I think this is a very nice hotel to stay in; however, for a 5-star hotel, I expected a much higher level of service.  We were disappointed by several issues during our stay. First, housekeeping knocked on our door around 8 a.m., waking us up to ask if we needed cleaning. We requested the service, but when we returned to our room around 3 p.m., it had not been cleaned. Even after we went out to dinner and returned later that evening, the room was still not cleaned. Additionally, while my friend and I were resting in the room, the door had not been closed properly and was slightly open. A hotel staff then opened the door without knocking, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Another issue occurred when my friend ordered food via Deliveroo. The order was marked as delivered, but we could not find it. We asked the lobby ambassador for assistance, but she was not helpful at all. We eventually found the order ourselves, placed on the concierge desk. Overall, the service from the staff was very disappointing and felt cold and unwelcoming. While I would recommend the hotel for its location, the level of service was far below what I would expect from a 5-star hotel."

"The location couldn't be more perfect, right in the heart of the Royal Mile, with windows overlooking the church. A crucial tip for arrival: from the train station, definitely avoid the stairs and take the main road instead; it's about an 8-minute walk. The kitchen and washing machine are fully equipped, great for preparing your own tasty meals. The bedding was excellent, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. The only minor point was the slightly low shower pressure, but that's often to be expected in an older building."

"From a hotel of this level and price you expect more for breakfast. At least delicious coffee :) and a cup for toothbrushes in the bathroom would not hurt either. By the way, about coffee - if you come at 8 am or later, then while you wait for the waiter with coffee you can sit - what prevents the hotel from installing a coffee machine so that I can serve myself is a mystery. The location is excellent, everything is within walking distance. The room is large, the height of the ceilings causes a wow effect :) the bed is beyond praise. There is a gym, a swimming pool, a spa and even a yoga mat and scales in the room - I did not use any of the above :)) They ask for a deposit of 150 pounds upon check-in. You would think that they have crooks living here and I will run away without paying. In general, considering the price, I would think twice - maybe there is cheaper nearby, but not much worse. The restaurant across the road Kyole is simply brilliant! I recommend 👍 and a little further, but also a minute's walk away, a good shop of kilts and traditional clothes, not a souvenir shop like on the Royal Mile. We went to the airport by bus number 100, very convenient, the bus stop is two minutes from the entrance to the hotel, the stop at the airport is right opposite the entrance, the price for two with luggage is 11 pounds, inside there is a place to put bags. We got there in 30 minutes. Everything is convenient and fast."

"The Balmoral Hotel is absolutely superb! We arrived at 8 AM and a lovely Eastern European lady at reception warmly welcomed us and allowed us to check in immediately, saving us the hassle of storing luggage and having nowhere to go. A gentleman in a kilt even helped carry our bags to the room. Beyond the daily cleaning, the housekeeping staff thoughtfully organized all our small items, neatly tying up messy charging cables. The breakfast was lavish and incredibly delicious [strong][strong][strong]! It's worth noting that Room 522 is where J.K. Rowling stayed while writing Harry Potter. It features a unique pink-purple door, distinct from the other white and green ones, and an owl-shaped door knocker, adding a special charm to the entire hotel. Many Harry Potter fans even pay a hefty sum to stay in Room 522 [grin][grin][grin]!"

"The terrace room was a bit small, but the advantage was having a terrace where you could enjoy the sunshine. The bathroom had heating, and the shower was very comfortable. The only downside might be the smell of barbecue from the food court downstairs, but overall it was a good experience."

"Traveled with my wife and our 10-year-old kid. The location was superb, right in the heart of town—near Scott Monument and directly in front of Victoria Garden. The hospitality was top-notch, especially in the F&B department. A waitress from Asia (likely Nepal) was exceptionally professional and friendly. An amazing place to stay with family & friends—highly recommended!"
