Great
GGuest UserI have stayed at various Toyoko Inn before. I have no complain for this one. The issue I encountered this time is that I got a smoking room, and the hotel was fully booked,?so not possible to switch. I thought I have always been very careful about booking a non-smoking room. Not sure where the mistake was happened.
DDaily happyDuring my recent trip to Japan, I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel that also serves as a wedding venue — and from the moment I arrived, the level of service was simply impeccable. The staff were not only gracious and professional, but also went out of their way to assist me at every turn, despite my lack of Japanese language skills. Their warm hospitality left a lasting impression and made me feel truly welcomed and cared for.
Though the room was compact, it was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully arranged. As a solo traveler, I found the space more than sufficient — cozy, comfortable, and a fantastic value for the price. It truly struck the perfect balance between affordability and quality.
A special mention goes to the amenities: the hotel provides a well-stocked amenity station at the reception, where guests can freely pick up whatever they need — a detail that reflects the hotel’s attention to guest convenience.
While the location is a little removed from the city center, this wasn’t an issue at all for me, as I had a rental car. The added bonus? Free parking on-site, which made my stay even more convenient and budget-friendly.
Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in so many ways. With its blend of elegant ambiance, exceptional service, and thoughtful touches, it became a peaceful and comfortable base for my journey — one I would gladly return to and wholeheartedly recommend to fellow travelers.
WWeidaHotel staff at reception desk is super helpful and very patient to assist customer.
Room is super clean and breakfast is nice.
We stayed this hotel for 4 nights for a golf trip. During our stay, there were a couple issues we have with car rental companies. Staff was very kind to help in local languange conversation with call center and local police individuals to effectively get thing done. I cannot image how long it will take for us to communicate with non-Japanese lauguage... Good job Route Inn hotel.
DDaochuzoudeshuThe hotel is probably the largest in Guanyinji City, but it is old, the bedding can be seen to have been used for a long time, and the air conditioning exhaust fan is very loud. But the transportation is convenient and the location is eye-catching.
TtorinessThis little guesthouse is simple but so well priced and met all our needs - mostly its close proximity (15 minutes walk) to both Honnura port area and the start of the Benesse house art zone, the main locations for the absolutely amazing art installations on Naoshima. Room was well sized, clean, secure and warm. The host was very friendly - he even gave us a lift into the Benesse area to give us a great head start on our day, and securely stored our luggage for the day. I would definitely stay here again. For those coming to Naoshima I would recommend staying 2 nights so you are not rushing your time on this beautiful serene island and make sure you book various galleries well in advance, they sell out even in off season!!
DDG_88Stayed here for one night on our second visit to Naoshima in almost 10 years.
The lodge is quite close to the main port, but it’s up on a hill — so if you’re travelling with heavy luggage, the walk up can be a bit of a workout. That said, there’s a luggage delivery service about a 5-minute walk from the port. We paid around ¥2,800 for two large suitcases (pickup and return), which made things much easier. Bike rental was about ¥1,500 per day.
The lodge itself is clean and fairly spacious. Being on top of the hill gives you a really nice view over the island and out to the ocean. AC worked well, everything was straightforward, and nothing really went wrong.
Simple, comfortable stay. Would consider staying again.
IiamzouzouI stayed in this hotel 7 years ago. I stayed there again this time. The facilities and environment are very good. Although the hotel has a sense of age, it is still well maintained. The tatami rooms used to be changed to Japanese and Western styles. The tableware for the hot spring dinner was changed to disposable lunch boxes. The tempura was cold. I guess it was to save labor costs! This is a bit regrettable!
It feels great to enjoy the sunset and soak in the hot spring!
GGuest UserI love the location near the jetties, makes it so convenient to book tickets for my island hopping plans. There’s plenty of good eateries and 7-11 downstairs. Big bonus is the onsen bath and laundry facility on the 9th floor. Hotel even gives you a bottle of water incentive and they still give you fresh towels, which they hang on your room door when you don’t wish to have room make-up service. Another plus point is the airport limousine pick is within sister property - JR Clement Hotel
Highly recommend this hotel!
GGuest UserEverything was as expected and the room was a comfortable size for solo travel, even allowing to open a suitcase properly which is sometimes very difficult in average Japan hotels with limited space! The location was amazing just a five mins stroll to the main train station, where you can do shopping conveniently, and also the ferry port for island hopping during the Setouchi Art Triennial. I was asked to stay in the 2nd building for the hotel which didn’t create any issues, just a small block away, the hotel/staff were very helpful in allowing to store the luggage even before and after check in for a full day!
WWinnnnnyleKotosankaku is located about a 5-minute walk from Kotohira Station and is very easy to find. The map shows that the post office is on the right, but it is actually blocked by buildings. There is a long straight road from the station. There is a souvenir shop in the basement of the hotel. It is a bit historical, but very comfortable and spacious. There are many cultural relics in the corridor for viewing, like a museum.
The room I stayed in was a Japanese-style room at the Zanshuikan (with an open-air bath), which can accommodate up to 4 people and only includes breakfast for 2 people. The room was generally large, with barely enough space for 4 beds. The whole room was very clean, and there were many breakfast options, but not all of them were delicious. The dinner set was average, a bit disappointing.
