Hotel itself was nice but could do a lick of fresh paint in the rastuurant. Reception and housekeeping staff were polite and helpful. Loved the pool area unfortunately tge shower opposite the steam room was not working and hit sauna out of action
The gym could do with state of the art machines but nice space. The restaurant Wednesday morning for breakfast staff not helpful but Thursday morning my goodness Terrie and Billy turned it around
They were chatty, helpful, nothing was too much trouble, service with a smile, tables were cleaned promptly and they were constantly on the go. Totally awesome. Parking we had to pay £10 daily which was much so for us £20. Great area secluded beautiful.
We booked this hotel for location and spa.
The hotel was lovely but the spa was dirty and lacking in spa experience facilities. I feel this should be sold as a hotel with a pool.
Disappointing spa experience for a 4* hotel and feel like this hotel has miss advertised the facilities.
The shutter to the spa was down before 6pm on Valentine’s day.
At check in we were told that you will get towels and robes at the spa and last entry to the spa was 8:30pm.
When we arrived at the spa area reception we were only given a towel and told robes are only for guests on a spa package, contradiction to what we were told at checking in at the hotel.
The pool area and changing rooms was very dirty. The pool side showers were out of order and looked like they had been for a while.
The area where the jacuzzi used to be had been boarded up and looked like it’s had been for a long time.
The pool was cold and also dirty.
It's a premier inn, so the standard room. Comfy bed for the night was all tht was needed, only thing I could've grumbled about, was the extractor didn't work in the bathroom, so the room smelt a little damp. Apart from that, great service at reception, good breakfast
Booked to stay here over half term with my daughter for a couple of nights - had a cosy room which was just right for the two of us.
Front reception staff were really kind and helpful.
Breakfast was lovely - the lady there was so nice and although was busy as she was on her own, she was always smiling.
We dined in the restaurant one of the evenings - food was delicious but the heating wasn’t working on that floor so the whole room was cold. Bar / restaurant staff were really nice.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and we would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Fantastic hotel with spotless rooms, friendly staff, and a perfect location. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and every detail made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back!
Lovely hotel, stayed for a long weekend and used the spa facilities - they gave us a free upgrade which was a nice touch! Beautiful grounds, restaurant was lovely and only a short scenic walk to the town
Only critique was the pool was quite small without much seating available and the sauna was male or female only - but the rest of the stay and amenities more than made up for it!
Also recommend the afternoon tea :)
Checking in at reception was quick & easy. The room was spacious with a large king-size bed which was comfy and the room was toasty. Good value, would recommend and stay again.
This was pretty much the only option for an overnight stay in Dover, as the other small hotels are even worse and not worth considering. The service was excellent, and the facilities were relatively new and complete. The location is superb. However, the building itself is very old. I'm not sure if it's subsidence or a structural issue, but the entire room was noticeably sloped. Walking from the door to the window felt like walking uphill, no exaggeration – a very peculiar experience. The faucet in the sink was poorly angled, causing water to splash everywhere.
I wouldn't recommend it if you're sensitive to noise. The old building has terrible soundproofing. You can clearly hear every creak from the floor above when someone turns over in bed. Housekeeping sounded like a battle, so forget about sleeping in. There was a bloodstain on one of the pillowcases and a small stain on the sheets, but I couldn't be bothered to complain.
On the bright side, there's a fantastic Italian restaurant to the left of the underpass exit leading towards the main shopping street. Highly recommend it!

XXRMThis was genuinely a wonderful and most special place.
The Rocksalt Rooms are in a separate building to the Restaurant - but you check in at the latter and walk you over. Note all the streets here are cobbled, which can be slippery when wet.
They are a real BoltHole as they are described, and there are only four total. 2 on 1st floor, 2 on 2nd floor, with one per floor harbour facing. I'd definitely suggest that the upgrade is worth it.
The rooms are compact but exceptionally well presented. I've odd little niggles, theres no bedside of any kind - floating shelf would work, where do you put your mobile? And the metal bed frame is ornate and was loose on the footboard.
The biggest challenge is where to put things. There are a few hangers on the back of the door and a small set of hooks, but not a drawer or proper place at all. I get space is a real premium here - bedside with 2 drawers all you need!
The wet room is compact as everyone says. You won't keep the floor area outside the shower dry, it's not possible. The sink is a corner one with no space to place things but there is shelf in the bathroom for all your luxuries. The body wash / conditioner / hand soap / hand moisturiser are great quality.
Noise - it's by the Harbour so they start early, but for us it was part of the charm of the location, the fresh fish smell was totally incredible.
Breakfast is not to be missed, across in the restaurant with the best view, it's harbour side. Loved the granola, yoghurt, compote starter. I had English Breakfast as I was hungry, it was great quality but disappoining - it was more style over substance. The bacon is cooked to crispy, not my style at all but great quality. He had the Salmon & Eggs and it won hands down. Local, fresh, decent portion, on wonderful Sourdough. Luckily I was saved a bite.
A point or two more - the bedside light fused the circuit and the room was plunged into darkness. Looked for fuse box, could not find. Ended up in Restsurant. They had to get keys to a location they used to own but don't now (ground floor of the Rooms building). This took a while as the keys had to be obtained. I get how this used to work, but not now - the fuse box needs moving. The if we cant fix option was check out and refund - erm no!!
There is the most incredible Team member behind the Bar/ Restaurant from Bulgaria whose name I have really tsckily forgotten. For which I apologise.
She is truly wonderful and made the visit for me, id return solely to see her again!!!
Overall we loved Rocksalt Rooms and would return, to have dinner in the restaurant too!
Thumbs up from us, thang you so kindly 💕
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is decent. Would have been great if the room came with a mini fridge, slippers and bath robes as they do have swimming pool / sauna and jacuzzi. But all in all it’s a decent hotel for the price
YYuyuyuyuanI accidentally booked a hotel in Folkstone, a small town half an hour away from Dover Pier.
Located on the cliff, there is a trail to the beach below.
The sea view is very beautiful.
The building is a historical building, so the elevator is very small. But the service and facilities are worthy of Voco's level.
The breakfast exceeded my expectations. The best breakfast I have had in Europe so far! It also supports semi-ordering, and the Benedict eggs are delicious. The black tea with milk for breakfast is also very rich!
The price-performance ratio is very high

Mmum and daughterDisappointed with the pool , dirty, no cups available for water, locks broken on doors . Floor slimmy.
Room ok but dusty at the bottom of the tea station, fan not working in bathroom,
Breakfast was terrible, orange juice was really watery and tasteless , plates too hot and no serviettes provided to hold , cereals were ok , no pastries very poor selection for the price , bread was cheap and soggy and when toasted burnt...yuk ! Too much pepper on the tomatoes , baked beans cheap and nasty , sausages were nice, bacon horrible and cooked in clumps so some were under cooked and some extremely crispy and salty.
For the price of £17 a head , I think the breakfast was 1/5. lady staff member was very nice, polite and helpful 5/5.
Sorry to say but we won't be back 😞
GGuest UserA very good hotel. The bedroom was excellent with a very traditional decor. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were as expected.
The bar and restaurant was again very traditional with oak beams, real stone slab floors and comfortable seating and nice tables. The bar provided a very good range of beers, larger wines, cocktails and spirits. The bar service was excellent and prices were reasonable. The restaurant service was friendly and excellent. The menu range was also very good and prices again were very reasonable. Breakfast was included and the choices and service good. Car parking was more than adequate and free.
The one disappointment was that there was no bar food available at any time during the afternoon.
I would use this hotel again.
