Had an amazing stay at JR Hotel Clement Takamatsu. Everything about this hotel deserves a perfect score. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The location is incredibly convenient — right next to Takamatsu Station, making it super easy to explore the city and nearby attractions like Ritsurin Garden.
The service was top-notch from check-in to check-out. Staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The amenities were impressive as well — comfortable beds, great facilities, and everything you’d expect from a high-quality hotel.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Takamatsu. Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip!
Hotel location is good where closed to the Takamatsu Port (9 min / 2.3km). If you are doing road trip, this hotel has the self owned car park, though the cost is a bit high - 1,500 Yen per night.
During my visit, the Central Park was under construction, however, the view is still fine.
Hot spring as the same across the brand Dormny Inn, very clean, spring water, well management.
I booked an accessible room, and it was genuinely spacious. It's really comfortable to stay in a 35 sqm room in Japan. There was a slight odor when I first entered the room, but it cleared up after I turned on the air purifier.
Downside: The soundproofing isn't great.
Upside: Everything else is a plus. The location is excellent. There's an airport shuttle right downstairs, which costs 1000 yen and goes directly to the airport. There are frequent services, almost hourly.
Location: Whether you're going to the airport, Takamatsu Port for island hopping, or the JR station, everything is within walking distance. It's a 12-minute walk to Takamatsu Port, which was perfect for our island-hopping itinerary. Mitsukoshi department store is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, and it has an LV store with plenty of stock. There are also many choices for drugstores, restaurants, and cafes.
The room was cleaned daily. One time, I forgot to hang the 'please clean' sign and thought it wouldn't be done, but when I returned to the room, it felt completely refreshed, which was a lovely surprise. I forgot to take photos of the room, so I've included a picture of the beautiful blue sea and sky instead.
Located in the heart of the bustling commercial district, the hotel boasts elegant Art Deco decor. The front desk staff who checked me in spoke English, and interestingly, on my check-out day, both front desk agents spoke Chinese. The room's furniture and lighting subtly exuded an old-money aesthetic, feeling natural and effortlessly sophisticated.
The hotel rooms were impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and modern facilities. Both the bathrooms and the overall environment were maintained pristine and peaceful. The staff were polite and attentive, even assisting us in booking an early morning taxi to the Shodoshima pier. However, for guests without a car, please note that you'll need to consult the bus schedule at the stop right outside the hotel entrance to reach the downtown area.
The hotel’s service was exceptional, with staff going above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The scenery was breathtaking, offering stunning views that made every moment special. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding, featuring delicious dishes that showcased local flavors. To top it off, they surprised us by preparing a famous local cake to celebrate my wife’s birthday, which was a delightful and thoughtful touch. Everything was perfectly arranged, and their attention to detail truly impressed us. This hotel exceeded our expectations, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a remarkable experience.
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant and comfortable experience. The location is excellent - just a short 5-minute walk to the main shopping area, with plenty of dining options nearby. It made exploring the neighbourhood incredibly convenient.
The room itself is small but it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Despite the compact size, the room was comfortable enough for a relaxing stay.
One of the highlights of the hotel is the onsen facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor onsens, though they are not large, they create a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere. I also had free Japanese noodles and ice creams at night times.
Overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay.
This is my third time staying at this hotel, and this time I stayed for four nights.
The open-air bath was clean and very comfortable, and the sauna was also very good.
Our room was cleaned every day, and we were very satisfied with the careful work. I used the restaurant last time, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of items and everything was delicious, and the Japanese food was also very good.
It was a satisfying stay at a reasonable price.
I would like to stay again. Thank you.

Aaleu aleuThe staff of Olivean Shodoshima Yuhigaoka Hotel are professional and considerable. Their service are excellent, especially
1) The shuttle bus driver (morning shift strong man, forgot asking his name). When we arrived at Shodoshima Ferry Pier at 11:00am on April 7, we found a hotel shuttle bus, but not sure if it's the one of our staying hotel. We asked the driver if it's the one that waiting to pick us up. He said yes, but the hotel check-in time should be 3:00pm in the afternoon. He suggested us to have the sightseeing first and helped register the afternoon time for picking us instead. Also, he suggested taking our hand carry bags to the hotel front desk to avoid we carrying too heavy bags while travelling.
2) The lady staff (sorry for forgetting her name) at the lobby hall, who was very proactive. She came over immediately to help taking photos for us when she found we're taking a selfie. She also served us with free drinks for enjoying the sunset at the hall.
3) The staff at the reception desk are very professional. They helped us for check-in, explained the details of the time for meals, and provided all the information required.
4) The foods for dinner & breakfast buffet are very nice and yummy. The restaurant is clean and tidy.
Overall, Olivean Shodoshima Yuhigaoka Hotel is a very professional and comfortable accommodation for stay. We're pleased and feel glad choosing this hotel.
AAnonymous UserWe have stayed in many Daiwa Roynet Hotels in Japan, and we’ve trusted the Daiwa Roynet brand very much. However, the Takamatsu property is the worst we’ve experienced so far, and after this stay we will be more cautious about choosing to stay at Daiwa Roynet in the future.
The facilities are very old and urgently need refurbishment. The cleanliness of our room was also quite shocking. There was hair in the bathroom and bathtub, and hair on the pajamas they provided, as shown in the photo. There were stains throughout the room as well. The bedding used is also smaller than the bed as shown in the picture.
If you’re planning day trips to the islands, the hotel isn’t very close to the port. There are plenty of shops nearby, though, so the overall location is ok.

MMitiKwokNice hotel, good room, historical value, very clean, the front desk clerk is also very good, although the hotel has stairs, but the two waiters worked hard to help us move the itinerary to the room, thank you very much!
But this hotel does not have a formal counter to check in, so we also need to pay attention to the brand nearby before seeing which store to go to to handle the check in service.
The most unacceptable thing is that when booking this hotel, the check-in payment has been deducted, and the payment will be officially made when you arrive at the local area, and then you have to wait for 3-35 days before arrange the original return.
I have waited for a month so far, and there is no refund. According to the customer service of trip.com, the payment has not been refunded because the hotel has not made a loan, so I have to wait.
I can't understand this very well, so I can't get a full score on the service ...
GGuest UserThe hotel is good and matches its price category. The rooms are spacious, new, and comfortable. The staff is friendly, and everything is automated – they've moved from physical keys to QR and PIN codes. If I'm ever lucky enough to visit Shodoshima again, I'd try to stay at this hotel once more.
Now, about why the rating isn't 5/5: if you're unlucky and get a room like mine on the 2nd floor, your balcony offers a wonderful view of the road and its traffic, which is a slight discrepancy from the photos. The balcony railings could also be lower. I understand safety comes first (especially with free drinks at the lobby bar), but the hotel emphasizes room views, and when you're sitting in chairs on the balcony, you're looking through a grate – which isn't very comfortable. The breakfast doesn't have the largest selection of dishes, but to be fair, each item is tasty and commendable.
I also visited the hotel restaurant for dinner. In my opinion, it would be better to change the menu to something they are masters at. The beef paella had well-cooked rice, but the beef itself was tough in places and generally quite bland. The burrata with fruit was drier than you'd expect, and there wasn't enough olive oil, salt, and pepper – which is strange for an island known for its olives. Perhaps they could add more, or provide salt, oil, and pepper with the dish so guests can season to their taste. The olive oil ice cream with salt and black pepper had the same issue as the burrata – it felt like the spices were stolen, yet they are the essence of this dish.
