"The hotel could be a bit cleaner. The carpets in the room should honestly be replaced or properly cleaned, they were really dirty and gave the room a weird smell. The first room I got at check in was below what I expected for the price, and it even smelled like someone had been smoking in there or it just had not been cleaned properly. I asked to change rooms and the manager was very pleasant and helpful, a genuinely warm person. The second room was definitely better and smelled clean, even though the carpet still had noticeable stains. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and it also caters well to western tastes, so 10 out of 10 for that. The location is perfect and the staff are friendly and welcoming."

"The Le Méridien's large, and even some extra-large, floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere made me feel really comfortable. There's a lot of greenery, making it perfect for relaxation. The hotel also offers boat rides, and those boats come with water guns, which we had a lot of fun with! There's an 'adventure course' for kids that looked so entertaining I almost wanted to try it myself. I even got to spray the kids on the zipline over the lake with my water gun, haha. We had a great time! There are both indoor and outdoor pools. Having stayed at all the five-star hotels in Songjiang, Le Méridien definitely ranks among the top in my book. It's very suitable for family trips with kids, as there are plenty of activities for them. This was my second stay, and even the sunset came out to welcome us!"

"The location is excellent, offering views of the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Huangpu River. It's incredibly close to the Oriental Pearl Tower, about 500m away, and right next to the Ocean Aquarium, all within walking distance. This is an older, well-established hotel, and while the facilities are a bit dated, the cleanliness is up to par. The breakfast spread is very rich; it's the most variety I've ever seen at a hotel breakfast. The staff are all very polite, and I'd like to specially mention Jamie, who provided exceptional service. Five-star review!"

The Guest Relations specialist even called me in advance to confirm my check-in needs, and they followed up promptly whenever I had questions. During the exhibition, the lobby signage was clear, and any queries or requests for directions were handled quickly and efficiently. The room was spotless, well-equipped, and the overall environment felt high-end and comfortable. I had no negative experiences throughout my stay; the service was responsive, effectively preventing any potential check-in issues. It's definitely my top choice for exhibitions, and I'll choose this hotel again for future events!"

"Busy with work as usual, it was a rare chance to leave the kids and spend a quiet, comfortable birthday with my husband. The room was fantastic, and they even sent some complimentary drinks. Even with the rain, it had a unique charm. For dinner, we just walked from B1 directly to IFC, without getting wet at all – it was perfect. It would be even more perfect if the lobby had a nice scent, just like IFC! The Executive Lounge was also great. Even though it was quite busy during the summer, they were very quick with refills. We'll definitely be back!"

"The room was fine. It wasn't very clean, but it wasn't too bad either. The location isn't ideal if you're planning to use the subway, as you'll need to walk more than 1 km to the nearest station. However, if you plan to use taxis, it's perfectly convenient. The terrace was definitely the best part of the hotel. 😅 Overall, it was a decent stay."

Radisson Collection Hyland Shanghai ★★★★
"It was an interesting stay. Great location right off the shopping boulevard. The hotel has a bar and two restaurants. A spa, a foot spa, and gym. We had lounge access which was a nice bonus but not really worth the extra money. You get free breakfast, appetizers from 6-8, and lounge access for coffee and sodas from 1-930. The breakfast was yummy. Offered a wide selection of food with regional dishes to western foods. One of the few places I’ve traveled outside the US that has actual bacon. We never waited but there was a sign saying there were peak hours. Check in was great. I had an issue with a bag left in a DiDi and the front desk agent went out of his way to help me get in touch with driver to recover my bag. The room much like the rest of the hotel feels trapped in that fake opulence that was popular awhile back. The shower was awkward because of its shape but it did have a rain shower which was nice. One of the few hotels I’ve been in lately that didn’t have the bath stuff bolted to the wall (though it probably wouldn’t fit). Huge tub and large fluffy towels. My daughter and I both left with some bug bites from our stay not bed bugs but definitely something. The biggest drawback to the room is the lack of functional outlets. One bed has no open plugs or usb ports the other bed has a wonky extension cord with some usb ports. Found one other usb in the room in the desk area. The hotel is doing some work apparently later this month so hopefully they bring it into this century. One thing I didn’t discover until the next day is there is an entrance from the back of the hotel right on the big shopping street. There’s also a cute little food court right there where you can grab a pretty decent variety of food. One warning is didi and food delivery have a hard time with the address"

"Many thanks to Lily for her great service and helping us with our room and luggage. She was always kind and helpful, and made our stay much smoother.

Getting Around Shanghai

Shanghai is a city with a huge flow of overseas tourists. If you’re flying, there are two main airports: Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA). But most international flights land at Pudong Airport.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is about 45 km from downtown and handles most international flights. In 2026, it’s busier than ever with expanded global connections. You can reach the city by metro, airport bus, or the Maglev train—fast and fun!

On the other hand, Shanghai Hongqiao airport is just 15 kilometers from the city center and mostly deals with domestic flights. You’ve got metro lines 2 and 10 to zip you straight to city.

Tips: If you're catching a red-eye flight, consider staying at one of these hotels that offer airport shuttle services to make your trip a breeze.
