"The staff here are incredibly welcoming and personable! We stayed for three days and two nights, and on our second day, we met some friends from the US. We all chatted together about how enthusiastic the guesthouse staff were, and how amazing the breakfast and afternoon tea spreads were! You can see the snow-capped mountains from both the rooms and the common areas! It's hard to believe this price includes so much – excellent value for money! I can totally understand why so many foreigners choose to stay here! During our three-day stay, we met people from Thailand, the US, and Russia. Usually, guesthouses don't include lunch or dinner, but during one of our afternoon tea sessions, we asked the staff, and they mentioned that if we needed it, we could just let them know in advance. It's a shame it rained during our visit; otherwise, the scenery would have been even more stunning! Due to the weather, we also asked the staff for advice on some of our activities. When we ran into issues buying tickets for Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, they proactively offered to help us sort it out. If you're a social butterfly, this place is highly recommended! You can strike up conversations during afternoon tea. At first, the staff seemed a bit reserved, and honestly, so were we, haha. From their perspective, they probably weren't sure if guests wanted to chat. So, if you're looking to connect, feel free to be a bit more proactive – we certainly got to know them better over afternoon tea!"

The staff were very enthusiastic; not only did they offer a complimentary welcome afternoon tea, but they also upgraded our room for free, which was such a pleasant surprise! Room View: From the soaking tub, we had an unbeatable view of the lake and distant mountains – absolutely stunning. Thoughtful Service: They provide a free shuttle service to and from Lijiang Ancient Town and Shuhe Ancient Town, making transportation incredibly convenient. Breakfast: The breakfast was an exquisite, aesthetically pleasing brunch plate, paired with fragrant coffee, making for a truly ritualistic experience. Design & Ambiance: The art space is filled with natural wood and woven bamboo elements, and there's a cozy tea room that's perfect for photos. "Really great stay at Mulanyu Tangsu Hotel! 🤍 The room was beautiful and had a traditional tatami-style bed with heating, which made it incredibly comfortable, especially during the cooler evenings. The room was also clean and the amenities were complete. The receptionist was another highlight. He was really helpful and immediately sent us recommendations for places to visit via WeChat, complete with map locations. He also helped arrange our transfer from the train station to the hotel, which made arriving much easier. One thing to keep in mind is the location. The hotel is situated on top of a hill, so while it is accessible by car, walking around without transportation means dealing with quite a lot of stairs. Your legs will definitely know you stayed in Lijiang 😂 The hotel is around a 15-minute walk from the Big Water Wheel in Lijiang Ancient Town, although the walk involves stairs. There’s also a convenience store nearby, which is handy. Overall, a lovely and comfortable stay with great hospitality. I’d definitely recommend it if you don’t mind the stairs!"

"A Wonderful Stay at Songzhuju Hotel! We stayed at the Songzhuju Hotel for 6 nights and were thoroughly delighted with both the accommodation and the city of Lijiang. Even before our arrival, we felt the genuine care from the staff. Ah Fei contacted us in advance and arranged a transfer from the railway station the day before check-in. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with a traditional tea ceremony and treats, gave us a helpful overview of the hotel, and shared useful information about the city via WeChat. Ah Fei was always available and ready to assist with any questions. In fact, the entire hotel staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The hotel itself is excellent. We loved its location within the Ancient City, not far from the North Gate. This made it easy and quick to walk out to the main road to catch a taxi (since vehicles are not allowed inside the Ancient City), while still being immersed in the old town atmosphere. Importantly, it wasn’t in the busiest tourist hub—there were no crowds right next to the hotel, and it was quiet in the evenings and at night. Our room was a two-level family room, very cozy, clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, crisp white linens, and daily housekeeping. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu (not a buffet)—which was delicious and authentic. I’d also like to share some thoughts on Lijiang itself. Initially, we planned to spend only 4 days here, but due to issues with our hotel in Dali, we left it earlier and extended our stay in Lijiang—and we were so glad we did it! Lijiang is absolutely charming. Even 6 days weren’t enough to fully explore it. Beyond the obvious pleasure of wandering through the Ancient City, I highly recommend: - Trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Tinghua Valley Lijiang Flowers—an incredibly beautiful botanical garden with fairy-tale views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Shuhe Ancient Town - Climbing up to Wangu Tower on Lion Hill in the Ancient City for sunset views. We explored all these places independently, booking DiDi rides and purchasing entrance tickets via Trip.com. However, if needed, Ah Fei can help organizing any tours. Also, if you’re not planning to continue toward Shangri-La, I strongly recommend taking a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The best option is the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China—the views are simply breathtaking. In summary, we absolutely enjoyed both: the region and the hotel, where we were able to have very comfortable rest after busy days filled with excursions and long walks. Huge thanks to the entire staff!"

"This was truly one of the best 民宿 experiences I have ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Two gentlemen welcomed us warmly with smiles and immediately helped us carry our luggage, which included two large suitcases and two small suitcases, all the way up to Level 3. We were also given a complimentary room upgrade because a larger room was available, which was such a thoughtful gesture. After checking in, they patiently guided us through the room facilities and made sure we knew how everything worked. On the first day of our stay, they also prepared a beautiful fruit platter and tea for us, which made us feel so welcomed and well taken care of. Their service hours are from 8am to midnight, but what impressed us most was how much they went beyond that. Whenever available, they also had a driver who could send us to the nearby Lijiang Old Town, making our trip even more convenient and worry-free. The level of care and help they provided is honestly beyond words. They made our entire stay comfortable, smooth, and stress-free. Together with the beautiful scenic views, their outstanding service made us fall in love with Lijiang even more and truly made us want to visit again. On our last day, we had to check out at 7am, which was outside their usual working hours. Even so, the owner personally stayed at the counter and set his own alarm just to help us carry our luggage down. He did not have to do this, but he still went out of his way to assist us. He also helped arrange transport to take us to Lijiang Train Station, which made our departure so easy and comfortable. The service at this hotel is genuinely excellent. I almost have no words to describe how grateful we are for such a wonderful stay. This is the first time I am putting so much effort into writing such a long review for a hotel, and that says a lot about how amazing the experience was. If you are visiting Lijiang, I highly, highly recommend this 民宿. The service, hospitality, comfort, and overall experience are truly top-notch. "So pleased I chose to stay here. The location is perfect for exploring. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They kindly upgraded me to a bigger room when I arrived and gave me a tour of the facilities. The have a tea room, washing facilities and also a gorgeous rooftop. I’ve included a photo of the rooftop. The bed was so comfy and I loved the seating area, it was the perfect place to stay while I enjoyed my time in Lijiang. It’s closest to the North Gate for DiDi or if you need to be collected for a tour. Also, the owner was very kind and helped organise a trolley to help with my luggage when I sadly had to leave. Thank you for a wonderful stay."
