Nestled in a quiet corner of Shuhe Ancient Town in Lijiang, Chaomu embraces a location philosophy of "snow mountain views from afar, a courtyard to retreat to nearby." Here, the grandeur of the Sunlit Golden Mountain merges seamlessly with the serenity of courtyard living. A standalone villa with its own spacious lawn and flowering gardens, it offers travelers a peaceful haven tucked away from the bustle.
The eight guest rooms are conceived in a minimalist Eastern aesthetic, comprising king-bed rooms, twin-bed rooms, and family suites. Select rooms feature a private courtyard or exclusive terrace, where the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain meets the eye the moment you rest your head. Every room comes with underfloor heating, a bathroom with separate wet and dry zones, branded toiletries, a hairdryer, and a smart toilet — thoughtful details that define the quality of contemporary dwelling.
The shared spaces reimagine the social rhythm of a mountain stay. The rooftop sky garden viewing deck greets you with the Sunlit Golden Mountain at dawn and the ancient town’s soft haze at dusk. On the ground floor, floor-to-ceiling glass walls draw the courtyard’s greenery into the lobby, where a fireplace lounge and an independent tea room balance calm with connection. A mini bar completes the scene, ready for a quiet drink or unhurried conversation.
Chaomu lives by the belief of "bathing in mountain light as you dream, making the courtyard your home." It carries the refinement of a boutique villa while preserving the heartfelt warmth of a true guesthouse. Whether it’s a solitary escape in a private courtyard or a joyous gathering with the whole family, your stay here will become a treasured Lijiang memory.
I'm absolutely blown away by Chaomu Homestay! The atmosphere of afternoon tea around the fireplace in the courtyard was amazing, and the rooftop coffee viewing of the snow-capped mountains at sunset was incredible. I even witnessed the golden sunrise on the mountains early in the morning – so therapeutic! The owner's hand-drip coffee was superb, and the family was incredibly warm and friendly, making me feel very comfortable. The weather was unbelievably good, and Shuhe and Baisha Ancient Towns are within walking distance. There's a bus stop right outside that goes directly to the ancient city, and there's free parking, making it super convenient for families with cars. The breakfast rice noodles and porridge were also delicious. This trip was a perfect experience, and I'm already looking forward to coming back!

Facilities: The room and toilet is clean. No bidet but of course it is not an uncommon thing here. There is a washing machine with a dryer at ground floor. No lift which is also not an uncommon thing here but they will help you carry luggage. They have rooms at grd floor and 1st floor. My room have bath tub as well with hot water so you can bath and relax. Interior and exterior wise is decent as well. Location: At Lijiang Ancient city. One of My Best Stay Experiences—Authentic & Unforgettable This was one of my most memorable hotel stays, and I’ve stayed at many top-tier, five-star hotels around the world. While this may not be the most luxurious in terms of facilities, it more than makes up for it with its genuine charm and warmth. The owner was incredibly friendly, making us feel like we were staying at a friend’s home rather than a hotel. This welcoming vibe perfectly complements the enchanting atmosphere of this beautiful ancient city. The views were absolutely breathtaking, especially from our top-floor room. The owner went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience, offering a spectacular panorama of the old town and surrounding mountains. The location is ideal—perched on a small hill, it provides an elevated vantage point for those stunning views, though the short uphill walk may be a slight effort due to the altitude. But trust me, it’s worth it. If you’re visiting Lijiang to immerse yourself in its relaxed beauty and rich culture, there’s no better place to stay. I originally booked for three nights but quickly realized I’d need more time—next visit, I’m planning a full week to truly unwind and soak it all in. This isn’t a place to rush; it’s a place to slow down, savor the moment, and let the magic of Lijiang embrace you. I can’t wait to return.

A very welcoming auntie that just makes you feel like home, located in their local housing estate. The room was really spacious and accompanied by modern Chinese furniture. Highly recommend to stay here! Did I mention that they have a really cute and friendly golden? Really worth the stay, would stay longer if I could…

Highly recommend, very clean and accomodating. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming by offering us a lot of snacks and teas to enjoy at night. The smart rooms were spacious and could be controlled entirely by voice. They also had a spacious lounge on the top floor with a beautiful view of the yulong snow mountain from the terrace. The breakfast was free and delicious. I would love to come back again and would definitely go visit their new location in shangri la. PS the pet dogs and cats were so cute.
Mountain view from restaurant/cafe. Lovely staff and service. Comes with afternoon tea on arrival and goodnight milk in evening. Plentiful food at breakfast. Laundry room was sufficient. Tibetian painting experiences amongst other things were included as part of the stay. Room was spacious and includes humidifier which is very much needed for the dry weather. A little hard to find in the complex and little lighting throughout complex at night, but area at front gate and near hotel are well lit up. Beds were firm and comfortable. Plenty of room for luggage.

The host is very accommodating and helpful. We were greeted with tea and fruits upon arrival. They also helped to carry our luggage from didi pickup point to the house. The stay was comfortable. The heater functioned properly. The room was big and as advertised. Theres plenty of space to eat and chill, and store your luggage inside the room. Very clean and the host will top up the amenities if needed. The inn is very close to the ancient town, just need a bit walk downstairs and you'll reach the small river. Theres also convenience store when you go down the road. We booked our jade dragon snow mountain trip with the host. The price is slightly on the higher end, but it was a last minute decision so its alright. They can also help you plan your itinerary for your stay. We went to alot of great place so Lijiang is very enjoyable~ Overall its a recommended place to stay. However, in my opinion the inn location is not suitable for elderly people because theres a lot of stairs.

Staying at Shile Hotspring, Lijiang was such an amazing experience! The service was top-notch and the staff were super helpful. We even got a room upgrade! The room was comfy, clean, and peaceful. They recommended great places to eat and nice costume rental shops too. The staff kept checking if we needed anything and even reminded us not to shower in the middle of the night before heading to Shangri-La Plus… they have super cute cats Highly recommended!

GGuest UserWhat a pleasant surprise. This small boutique hotel checked all of our boxes. Comfortable room, nice breakfast, helpful staff and to top it all off the owner spoke very good English. It is located not too deep into the alleys of the ancient town, so it is easy to walk out to the main road. The ambiance was perfect with the quiet courtyard and the breakfast/tea house providing a nice respite from the crowds and busyness of the ancient town. We would definitely book again if we were to be in Lijiang.
GGuest UserThe room was very clean, and the guesthouse itself was beautiful with a lovely small courtyard and a big dog. It's also kid-friendly! You can see Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the hotel, and if the weather is good, you can even catch the 'golden mountain' sunrise right from the entrance. It's super quiet at night, and you can see so many stars ✨. It's just a short walk to Baisha Old Town, so getting around is very convenient, and it's close to all the attractions. The staff were also really nice. I truly love Lijiang; the pace of life is so relaxed. I'll definitely be back for a longer stay next time!

GGuest UserOur first stop in Yunnan gave us a fantastic experience!
The free airport pickup was super reliable. The driver contacted us in advance and was already waiting for us at the exit. The car was clean and tidy.
Upon arriving at the Old Town entrance, staff were already there waiting. They transported our luggage by tricycle, and a staff member walked us to the guesthouse, introducing us to its facilities and offering travel tips along the way.
The room was spacious and well-equipped. Both beds were huge, and the bathroom was also massive. It was very comfortable and roomy for two adults and two children. There was both underfloor heating and air conditioning, which was a real plus as Yunnan nights in winter can be quite chilly. The underfloor heating made it much cozier.
From some angles on the second floor, the view overlooking the Old Town was excellent. The panoramic shot of the Old Town in the pictures was taken from there.
Shifang Street, which is very lively, is just a short walk from the guesthouse. Mufu and the Grand Waterwheel are also within walking distance. It truly lives up to the saying, 'step out into bustling streets, return to peaceful serenity.'
The afternoon tea every day was exquisite, especially the latte – I absolutely loved the delicate latte art! Breakfast was served until 11 AM, which was perfect for us 'lying flat' travelers.
There are so many guesthouses in the Old Town, it was overwhelming choosing one, but I'm so glad we picked this one. Highly recommended! 👍
II’m going places**Excellent Stay with Outstanding Hospitality**
I had a wonderful experience during my recent stay at Liqiang. From the moment I arrived, the level of service exceeded my expectations.
The highlight of my visit was the exceptional hospitality provided by our host, Mr. Sing, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He was incredibly caring and attentive throughout our stay, taking the time to help arrange our itinerary and providing valuable local insights.
Mr. Sing's assistance was invaluable - he personally helped us with our luggage from the main entrance all the way up to the hotel, which we greatly appreciated. His local knowledge really enhanced our trip, as he introduced us to excellent dining options and guided us to the best shopping areas in the vicinity.
The genuine care and attention to detail shown by our host Mr. Sing made our stay not just comfortable, but truly memorable. I would highly recommend Liqiang to anyone looking for a place that combines good accommodations with outstanding personal service.
Thank you to Mr. Sing for making our visit so enjoyable!
GGuest User11/10, hospitality excellency is off the charts. from the start till the end of our stay, we felt very taken care of. we got to enjoy one of two delicious breakfast options every morning, and the host will always serve us tea and chat with us when he’s able to. knowing that we’re international guests, he would also go the extra mile to help us coordinate with the local drivers and guides (e.g. with our Jade Dragon Snow Mountain day tour guide) to help us ensure our trip is as smooth-sailing as possible. on that note of our JDSM day tour, since it started very early in the morning (before their usual breakfast timing), the host even prepared bread and milk for us so that we can still have breakfast before going up the mountain. throughout our stay, there have been many instances like that where we could feel the genuine hospitality services by the host!
the location is also very convenient, because it’s not too far from the main Sifang Square of the Lijiang Old Town while also being relatively near to the car drop-off/pick-up point (cars aren’t able to enter the Old Town). and of course, the view you can get from your room is amazing, being able to overlook the town and also see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. will highly recommend this place!
CCherie TangThe rooms were clean and had a good view of the mountains. They catered to early breakfast daily when you have to leave early and the hospitality is surprising despite being a homestay and small establishment. Only negative is that there was ongoing constructions so moving the luggages were a problem. There is a small laundry room that you can use but is dependent on if you have a slot. Overall, has good amenities and cars to take you to town - shu he and lijiang town whenever you wish.
Room given was abit hot in the afternoon but overall a very pleasant stay.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the Old Town, super close to Sifang Street and the Bar Street. It's really convenient for getting around and exploring, plus you get amazing panoramic views of Lijiang Old Town. We had two rooms that even came with a private terrace – perfect for enjoying tea and chatting, so relaxing!
CCiciyuhexiansenThis Lijiang trip, I stayed at a guesthouse in the Old Town that totally exceeded my expectations! It's pretty much in the center, so you can walk to all the places you want to visit in just a few minutes. What I really want to talk about is the hotel's amenities. The rooftop is an exclusive photo spot for guests, with flowers, a piano, and afternoon tea – you can even get amazing shots with the snowy mountains in the background. For entertainment, there's billiards, karaoke, and a gym. Seriously, the facilities are so comprehensive!
XXianggenichengnannannanHow to put it, Banyan Tree holds a special place in my heart. Everything is generally good, and I've stayed there before. However, the facilities are just so inconvenient, and they haven't been updated even in this day and age. Before going to bed, I had to search everywhere for the light switch. In the middle of the night, if I wanted to turn on the light, I couldn't find the switch anywhere – they were all so far away! If I wanted to turn off the light after lying down, I'd have to get up again. I couldn't even find the light switch in the minibar area before bed, so I had to sleep with the light on. When I woke up and wanted to lie in bed to admire the snow-capped mountains, I had to get up to open the curtains (or rather, the door panels). Entering the main gate was a struggle; the villa's main gate is so old and worn out it's hard to open! And that surround around the bed is so anti-human. Should I step on it or not when getting into bed? If I don't step on it, it's a bit of a reach to get in. But if I do step on it, surely many people have stepped on it, and you can't wash fabric coverings after every guest, right? With these surrounds all around the bed, I couldn't even sit on the edge of the bed! Plus, the staff weren't very proficient; it took half an hour for check-in (and I was the only guest). Although the price has dropped, it's still over 2000 [yuan]. Honestly, being in the room felt like one word: tiring. It felt like I was constantly circling the room, looking for this and that… I'd take off my clothes and not know where to put them, and then the next day I'd have to remember where I put them.
GGuest UserThe room facing the street was quite quiet, which was nice. The front desk has a coffee machine, and you can ask the staff to prepare drinks for you as needed.
The front desk staff was very enthusiastic and proactively offered us travel advice. Parking allows one exit within a 24-hour period, so plan your outings accordingly.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Old Town Windmill, maybe because I walk a bit slowly, but it's definitely not just a few minutes away.
The room is equipped with smart home features, and the quality of items like tissues is quite good, showing that the owner has high standards for the amenities provided.
