I arrived at 9 AM and was immediately checked in. After a good sleep, I headed out to explore. No deposit was required, which was a nice touch. The staff were all smiles and made me feel right at home. Next time I'm in Kota Kinabalu, I'll definitely choose this place again. The privacy is excellent, and the capsule rooms are great. It's also conveniently located near the Central Market and Gaya Street, making it easy to get around.

Great location! The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was nice and clean. The only downside was that housekeeping didn’t replace the toiletries or towels on the second day. Still, it’s a lovely place to stay and I’d definitely recommend it.
Highly recommended! It's the ultimate value for money! The breakfast is delicious, and there are so many options for those who wake up early. We had a minor hiccup at the beginning, but the owner was very helpful. We ended up trying two different rooms (a dorm and a king-size bed). We slept really well in both. There are quite a few Chinese people staying here, and I saw them chatting and sharing their experiences every day. However, I was so exhausted from island hopping that I just went to my room after showering.
Some things to be wary of:
It's a bit far from the island hopping pier, so you should allow 15-20 minutes to walk there anyway (or maybe we were just walking slowly). Shoes are not allowed inside the hotel, but the bathroom floor was sometimes wet, so I had to wash my feet after using it.
I didn't take any photos of the room, but don't worry, it's exactly what I saw. The public areas are even more welcoming than the photos. Here are some beautiful photos from my island hopping trip.

The customer service is not at the room when i wanted to returning the room keys back. Call many times never reply until 10am then they pickup. I was back to my hometown when i called the CS about returning the keys. Never have instructions to left the keys in room because i scare others people will going in the room and mess up everything that i never do. Please NOTED on this.

The bed linen is clean, the hostel itself is clean, the staff is friendly. There is not enough space in the common areas and it would be good to add another shelf and hangers near the beds.

For a twin room without windows, there are actually two doors:
• First, the main door to the unit (which has three rooms inside)
• Then the second door is the door to your actual room (Room 1/2/3)
So far, the room was super comfy, clean, and complete with the amenities. 👍🏻👏🏻
Thank you, Promenade Service Apartment — definitely will repeat my stay here next time! ☺️💖
P/S: Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures during my stay (it was just an update for my mom 🙏🏻)
I had a pleasant stay at Eminent Hotel. The place is nice, clean, and very accommodating, making it a comfortable option for travellers. The staff were friendly, warm, and extremely helpful, always ready to assist whenever needed. Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable experience, and I would consider staying here again.

The shower door was absent and the furnishing is old.
To me it was the value that we paid. Budget hotel.
Venue is really good, just opposite CentrePoint and not far from Cowboy Bar.

**The things That Need Improvement:**
1. The bathroom ceiling light is missing.
2. The paint above the toilet bowl in the bathroom is peeling.
3. The exhaust fan is very dusty.
4. A used face mask was found in the waste bin.
5. A used small box was found in the bedside table drawer.
6. The light above the wash basin is not working.
7. The hotel Wi-Fi connection is very slow.
8. The glass windows (outside) so dusty.

I stayed on the 7th floor in room 71X facing the main road. The room was generally fine, but being next to the main road means you can clearly hear traffic noise throughout the day and night.
Another issue was that every time I turned on the water heater for a shower, there was a noticeable smell coming from the bathroom. I’m not sure what the smell was, but it was quite obvious whenever the hot water was running.
Overall, the stay was okay.

BBella1994All was good except for the WiFi service. The staff were good. It has no lift by the way and our family room with 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed was on the 2nd floor. Using only stair to lift up our baggage. This facility has it's own parking lot which save our time not to look for a space to park our car.
GGuest User*Honest Review: Comfortable Stay but Disappointing Service Transparency*
Me and a group of colleagues chose Wendu Inn during our recent work trip to Kota Belud, and I’d like to share an honest review—not just a general star rating—because the experience was a mix of excellent and disappointing aspects.
Pros: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
• The check-in process was smooth and efficient.
• Cleanliness and room comfort are top-notch—definitely 5-star worthy, especially for a small town like Kota Belud.
• The view from the café and the convenience of having a minimart downstairs were truly added bonuses.
• We genuinely appreciated the effort put into making the place cozy and welcoming.
But here comes the downside:
We booked our rooms with breakfast included, which is supposed to be served at their café. However, this was where things went wrong.
1️⃣ When we went for breakfast, there was no proper display or explanation about the free breakfast options. What was openly displayed was a menu with both breakfast (no prices shown) and lunch items (with prices).
The actual complimentary breakfast choices were hidden away in a folder behind the counter—not visible to guests. Naturally, thinking the displayed breakfast options were part of our package, we made our choices and presented our coupons at the counter. The staff accepted the coupons without saying a word. Only after finishing our meals were we surprised with a bill, leaving us feeling misled and frustrated.
2️⃣ The counter staff’s customer service was below expectations.
When we requested an official receipt for work claims, we were repeatedly told to refer to the booking website. Even after explaining that we needed an original stamped receipt, the answer was simply: “We don’t have an original stamp.”
For a hotel catering to business travelers, this lack of basic documentation support is quite inconvenient.
Final thoughts:
Would I recommend Wendu Inn? Yes—for comfort, cleanliness, and its peaceful surroundings.
But be prepared to double-check details around your package (especially meals), and don’t expect much assistance from the front desk when it comes to paperwork or clarifications.
QQaaa AmrrThe journey to the hotel took a very long time because it's quite far. The road leading to the hotel wasn't great, but once we arrived, the view was absolutely stunning. Mount Kinabalu was clearly visible; we could see it distinctly in both the afternoon and morning. The bed was a bit noisy, it creaked a little when moved, and there were other faint noises, but we just ignored them. Breakfast was decent. Their fried banana fritters were delicious and crispy – perfect for an early morning breakfast.
I chose this hotel specifically for the view, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
LLiudoufuSanitary: The room is very clean,
Service: The service attitude is good, you can send meals to the room, and you can pick up and drop off for the visitor center for free.
Facilities: complete facilities and large rooms.
Environment: Not far from the visitor center, about ten minutes by car, 2.6 kilometers walking, free pick -up and delivery is very intimate. It is very convenient to connect to WeChat. It is recommended to check in. The only disadvantage is that there is a mosque in the back, praying on time at 5:00 every day. This is Muslim custom, praying five times a day
AAnonymous UserThis is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with ”hello, sir/ma'am” whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.
GGuest UserPrior to making the reservation, I had reviewed numerous negative online comments, primarily concerning issues with the air-conditioning and bathroom facilities. As a result, I contacted the hotel directly to seek clarification. The front desk staff assured me that I would be allocated a room without such problems and stated that it was designated for foreign guests and had not received any complaints. Relying on this assurance, I proceeded to book a twin-bed room.
Upon check-in, we were required to carry our luggage to the third floor due to the absence of an elevator, and no assistance was offered by the staff. Although the room layout was acceptable, it was poorly maintained, with visible damage to the headboard.
On the third evening, after returning to the hotel during heavy rain, we discovered that the shower was not functioning properly, with no water supply initially and only minimal cold water later. Despite being informed that a technician would attend to the matter at 11:00 p.m., no assistance was provided even after 11:25 p.m. Subsequently, the air-conditioning unit began leaking water.
When I requested a room change, the staff initially declined, citing a lack of availability. Only after I insisted on speaking to the manager or owner was a replacement room, free from these issues, finally provided.
I am extremely disappointed with this hotel, as it is evident that management has failed to take previous guest feedback seriously or implement necessary improvements despite repeated online complaints.
CCLLowI stayed in the fan dorm room at Sepilok Jungle Resort, and it was a great experience for anyone used to Malaysia’s climate.
The dorm was clean, simple, and well-kept — exactly what you need after a long day exploring. Shared bathrooms were tidy and maintained regularly. The whole resort feels calm and peaceful, with beautiful ponds and lush greenery everywhere you walk.
Location-wise, it’s perfect. Just a short stroll to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sun Bear Conservation Centre, which made the stay even more convenient.
If you’re okay with fan rooms and enjoy being close to nature, this dorm is a great, budget-friendly choice. Comfortable, quiet, and surrounded by real jungle vibes. Highly recommended! 🌴✨
NNicfotoArriving at 11.15am i was asked to pay a surcharge of 20RMB per hour if i wanted access to my room before official check-in time of 2pm. The hotel appeared empty.
The rooms are clean with nice full height windows. There is bottled water, kettle, and 2 t-bags.
There is no TV, no fridge, and no blankets, though blankets are available for an extra charge (the hotel is at an altitude of approx 1,200m, so its chilly in the evenings).
Staff didn't speak Rnglish, but with Google Translate they did help arrange a taxi back to KK.
There is no restaurant or eating options until you return to the main road - 1.6 kms away uphill.
Overall, staff were distant but helpful when approached. I wouldn't stay there again.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel was very clean and smelled nice.. Only the staff's attitude was bad. Please improve your reception, the hotel is great, but with staff like that, the business won't go anywhere. I called earlier, and the staff told me the room was on the 2nd floor, but when I arrived, it was on the 3rd floor. I have asthma, and having to climb stairs to the 3rd floor felt like a complete lie. When I asked, the staff answered rudely. At that time, it was a male staff member on duty!
