5-Star Hotels in Hebei, China

Beijing was too hot, so the kids kicked us out to do their homework over the weekend. We came to Chongli for a hike, and it's so cool here. I picked this hotel, which is relatively new in Chongli, having opened in 2020. I hadn't been to Cuiyun Mountain before, and it's quite nice. The breakfast is great, packed with Chongli elements – savory and fragrant enough to instantly take me back to my childhood. I was given a lake view room, which offers a perfect view of the entire area in front of the hotel. In the morning, I went for a roughly 3km run. There's a boardwalk behind the hotel that you can hike up directly to the Xingmang Library. It has four pavilions and shaded paths, so it's not sunny. It's about 1.5km with an elevation gain of 264 meters. Service-wise, it was pretty good, but the hotel staff were *too* diligent. They called to rush us even before check-in, and then kept calling relentlessly before 12 PM for check-out. That part was really annoying.

Staying at the Ximei Wuzhou Hotel in Shijiazhuang was an absolutely fantastic experience. The lobby is grand and stylish, and the room has excellent natural light with expansive views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries are of good quality. We even received complimentary welcome fruit and yogurt upon check-in. A major highlight is the 27th-floor infinity-edge constant temperature pool; the water is crystal clear, and the ambiance is incredible. The gym is well-equipped. The breakfast offers a wide selection of both Chinese and Western dishes, including local specialties. The service is thoughtful and meticulous, with turn-down service offered in the evenings. The surrounding area has plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. Plus, there's free indoor parking. It's perfectly suited whether you're traveling or just need a temporary stay. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend the NOAH ANNAYA HOTEL, and I must give a special shout-out to our dedicated butler, Wendy. Our stay this time was truly warm and unforgettable! Before we even left, I was constantly asking questions about the various attractions in the Anaya resort. Wendy always responded patiently, clearly explaining the entry procedures for the park, how to use the shuttle bus, and other important information. She even helped us plan our itinerary based on our travel times and thoughtfully reminded us about the significant temperature difference between day and night by the sea, suggesting we bring light jackets. This saved us a lot of hassle in planning. On the day of check-in, the process was efficient and smooth. Wendy meticulously introduced the hotel room facilities and detailed the hotel's amenities. We had pre-booked the much-anticipated 'Deck Time,' and were really looking forward to it. However, we got delayed en route and realized we wouldn't make our original session. We thought our reservation would be void, and we were quite disappointed. On a whim, I contacted Wendy. She was incredibly understanding of our long-distance travel and the potential disappointment. Instead of just saying it couldn't be changed, she proactively and repeatedly contacted the 'Deck Time' staff, coordinating and communicating with various parties to help us adjust our experience slot. Finally, we successfully made it to 'Deck Time'! The view from the deck was fantastic, and the accompanying drinks and exquisite snacks were delicious. The ambiance was perfect, and the breeze was incredibly soothing. Throughout our stay, no matter how big or small our request, a quick message to Wendy on WeChat usually got a fast response, and everything was taken care of. Her service was attentive and thorough throughout, with a great sense of discretion – never intrusive, but always there when needed. The hardware of the NOAH ANNAYA HOTEL is excellent, but Wendy's thoughtful and professional butler service was truly the biggest highlight of this trip. The next time we come to Anaya, we'll choose this hotel again, and we'll definitely ask for Wendy!

Compared to the bustling Thaiwoo Ski Resort, I much preferred the tranquility of Genting Secret Garden Hotel. The design aesthetic was dark and minimalist, with a subtle Jurlique fragrance lingering in the air. Opening the curtains, I could gaze out at the distant Yushiliang Peak. I was so glad I arrived a few days before the Spartan race, allowing me to quietly soak in the beauty of the place. It was only a 500-meter walk to the main race venue, and after finishing, it was a quick 5-minute stroll back to the hotel for a hot shower! I'd definitely come back here for skiing in winter. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning in summer, which my husband complained about for all four nights. I'd suggest the hotel install AC units in the rooms for the summer months! Minor incident: After checking out, we had already driven to Zhangbei Grassland when my husband realized he'd left his headphones at the hotel. We called the hotel, hoping for the best. The lovely lady from the reservations department contacted housekeeping to search for the lost headphones and immediately arranged for them to be sent via SF Express. Five-star service, truly!!!

Facilities: It's an old hotel, so you can't expect top-notch facilities, but they're well-maintained. It's clean and comfortable enough, making for a pleasant stay. Food: The variety is quite limited, but everything tastes great. I feel their pastries and breads are the best things the hotel offers. View: This is definitely a highlight. It's fantastic to feel the breeze and watch the sea from the room. Just cross the street downstairs and you're at the beach, perfect for a stroll. Service: Overall, the service is pretty good. Perhaps because it was a busy weekend, the front desk was swamped and a little less proactive than usual. Executive Lounge: It's almost non-existent. The only real benefit was the open balcony in the afternoon to look out at the sea.

After exploring the Grassland Sky Road during the National Day holiday, we headed straight to Chongli for accommodation. The Genting Hotel wasn't too expensive during the holiday, and they even upgraded us from a king-size room to a one-bedroom suite. Later that night, we realized our room was right next to the elevator and quite noisy. The hotel staff promptly helped us switch rooms, so the service was absolutely top-notch. As for breakfast, there wasn't a huge variety, and it was very crowded, so don't go in with high expectations.

I usually stay at one of two hotels when I'm on business in Cangzhou: the Golden Lion Hotel or the Arcadia. The front desk staff, especially Li Huize, provided excellent and thoughtful service, even preparing welcome gifts and drinks. First, about the room: it was clean, but the facilities were outdated. There wasn't even a USB port in the room, which I suggest the hotel updates. Next, the service: there was no doorman at the entrance to open the car door or help with luggage upon arrival. The service felt impersonal. This is definitely something the hotel should learn from the Golden Lion Hotel, where the service is much more welcoming and enthusiastic. Furthermore, the hotel's room service staff were not very warm; they seemed rather aloof. And the hallway had a pervasive musty smell. Finally, the hotel breakfast: the variety was not as good as the Golden Lion. The ham sausages were not pure meat, but starchy, and the bacon also looked pale and not like pure meat. There were no desserts, and the lamb intestine soup wasn't freshly prepared. When I called for ice to my room, it was brought in a large ramen-style bowl, not an ice bucket. This really felt out of place for a five-star hotel.

Stepping into the InterContinental Shijiazhuang, I immediately noticed the perfect balance between business and leisure. The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the city's central business district, making it incredibly convenient for visiting major attractions and government offices. For business travelers or those on a short trip to Shijiazhuang, commuting costs are practically negligible. The lobby is spacious and bright, with tasteful art installations that avoid ostentatious luxury, instead creating a relaxed and elegant welcoming atmosphere. The guest rooms are well-organized, and the bedding is just right – soft enough to alleviate the fatigue of a long day but still supportive. The cleanliness and attention to detail are impeccable, and the amenities meet high-end hotel standards. The hotel's all-day dining restaurant offers a rich selection of dishes, balancing local specialties with standard fare. The breakfast menu caters to both northern and southern tastes, satisfying diverse dietary preferences. The staff are prompt and professional in their service, never intrusive but quick to assist when needed. This hotel is definitely a solid choice for anyone visiting Shijiazhuang.

On this business trip to Zhangjiakou, I once again chose the Zhangjiakou International Hotel! Great location, great service, and great rooms! First, the location: it's a 7-8 minute drive south to the high-speed rail station, and about a ten-minute drive north to the scenic old town. To the east, it's right next to the (new) Zhangjiakou Museum! Second, the service: from the front desk to the housekeeping staff on the floors, the attitude was exceptional. They were incredibly friendly and their enthusiasm was just right. I particularly want to commend the housekeeper on my floor; she noticed my colleague had been drinking and proactively asked if he needed honey water (thumbs up 👍). Finally, the rooms: they're larger than most hotel rooms, and the bed was very comfortable. I had a full night's sleep!

This is our go-to hotel every year. It's really easy to find, and this year we happened to check in right on my child's birthday! The hotel even gave us a birthday cake. The buffet downstairs is also very rich and varied! We'll definitely be back again next year!
