Nearly ten stays in two years, turning this hotel into a warm haven I call home.
Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Sports South Street in Shijiazhuang, the Venice Water World Hotel is, for me, far more than just a place to stay. Over the past two years, eight (closer to ten now) visits have instilled in me a unique sense of familiarity – a feeling of stepping not into a hotel, but returning to a familiar and warm home every single time.
My first choice was probably due to its excellent location and the allure of 'Water World,' but what keeps bringing me back is that indescribable 'home' feeling. From the moment I push open the hotel doors, the familiar Baroque-style decor greets my eyes, a faint fragrance permeates the air, and the front desk staff always know my surname, greeting me with a 'Welcome home, Mr./Ms. X,' instantly melting away my travel fatigue.
I absolutely love the hotel's food; it's simply incredible! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 You must try their Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and the breakfast spread is particularly rich and diverse.
The hotel rooms consistently maintain a reassuring level of cleanliness and comfort. The bedding is just right for a good night's sleep, and the soundproofing is excellent, allowing for peaceful nights even in the bustling city. What touches me even more are the subtle touches of care: the humidifier, eye masks, and earplugs always available in the room are a godsend for someone like me who has specific sleep environment preferences. With each stay, I notice small updates to the room facilities, perhaps a new decorative item or upgraded toiletries. This continuous dedication makes me feel the hotel's relentless pursuit of quality.
And 'Water World' is always a highlight I must experience. After a day of work or sightseeing, soaking in the hotel's bathhouse or swimming a few laps in the heated pool makes all fatigue disappear. The bathing facilities here are well-maintained, the water is clear, the environment is elegant, and the staff are always there when you need them, without being intrusive.
What I find most unforgettable is the hotel's personalized service. I remember one time I accidentally left a coat in my room. After contacting the hotel, they not only kept it safe but also proactively arranged for it to be couriered back to me. This sense of responsibility and thoughtfulness made me feel completely at ease.
Over the past two years and nearly ten stays, the Venice Water World Hotel has witnessed my business trips and also accommodated my leisure time. It has never shown any neglect despite my frequent visits; instead, each time it has surprised me with new delights and consistent warmth. It's not just a hotel; it's more like a 'home away from home' in Shijiazhuang, a sanctuary where I can let my guard down and rest peacefully.
If you're also looking for a hotel that gives you that 'home' feeling, then the Shijiazhuang Venice Water World Hotel is definitely worth a try. Trust me, once you experience the warmth and service here, you'll feel, just like me, that it's your other home in Shijiazhuang.

Regarding the service: I called the night before check-in to ask if I could check in early. They said it depended on check-outs and cleaning and couldn't be reserved in advance, which seemed reasonable. On the way to the hotel from Aranya, around 11 AM, I called to ask about availability. They mentioned there were three family rooms in total, and only one had been vacated but not yet cleaned. It was 'first come, first served,' but then they added that another guest had already booked it and was already at the hotel, parking. So why was it available for booking again? I arrived at the hotel 15 minutes later, and the front desk said all three family rooms were still occupied. I asked, 'Didn't you say one was checked out? Has that other customer already checked in?' The three front desk girls exchanged glances, pointed to the computer screen, and changed their story, saying one had checked out but hadn't been cleaned. I said, 'Okay, we can wait.' After about 20 minutes, we successfully checked in. At this point, I really wanted to know where that 'legendary' guest, who was supposedly already at the hotel and parking, had gone. Is there a trick to checking into hotels now?
Regarding cleanliness: We booked a family room with a slide. The quilt upstairs was wrinkled, and the tatami mat downstairs had crumbs and debris on it. I used a dry towel to wipe off a bunch of dirt, which was very noticeable on the white floor tiles. If a vacuum cleaner had been used, there would probably have been even more. Helplessly, I had to ask the cleaning lady to come in and wipe it with a wet cloth. On the table next to the large bed, my hand was covered in dust with one touch, and the countertop above the refrigerator was also dusty.
Regarding facilities: The hotel does not provide breakfast. The rocking horse in the room was broken and missing its ears. The two beanbag chairs in the common area were a bit useless; replacing them with tatami mats or regular sofas would be better and more practical.
Something positive: The location is good, not far from attractions like Pigeon Nest Park, Tiger Stone Park, Shallow Water Bay, and Happy Bay, making it convenient to get around. It's right next to Liuzhuang Night Market, which is great for shopping and snacks. You can also stock up on various clam digging tools here in advance, and the prices are much better compared to those in the scenic areas. The hotel has its own parking lot; guests can park for free after registering their car number. However, during the May Day holiday, parking spaces were very tight. Thanks to the parking attendant who moved his own car to let us park.

The hotel boasts a prime location in the old town, within walking distance of Xingtai Museum, Kaiyuan Temple, and Qingfeng Tower. Dahuoquan Park is also easily accessible by bus, about a 20-minute ride away. There are excellent dining options nearby, including Wanda Plaza, Heijia Dumpling Restaurant, and Guangshunxing right across the street.
Our room was clean, and the bedding was fresh with no unpleasant odors. Both the service and the overall ambiance were very good. A major plus is the underground parking lot equipped with slow-charging EV stations.
We do have a few minor suggestions:
1. While the breakfast selection isn't extensive, there's certainly enough to fill you up.
2. For the fresh fruit, we noticed bananas were cut in half. It might be better to serve them whole, as the cut surfaces tend to blacken quickly.
3. The soy milk served was quite diluted.

The front desk staff were really enthusiastic and helpful. The towels in the room, however, were a bit stiff. Breakfast was excellent, especially the 'Guo Bao Rou' (sweet and sour pork), which was delicious. I also got to try the local specialty, 'Dou Mo' (a savory bean paste soup), which was also very tasty, but it's not available every day. Overall, I had a great experience.

The hotel is conveniently located, but the facilities in Building B are obviously old and the whole building needs renovation. The service is not bad or outstanding. In other words, there is no impression of the service.

I specifically booked this hotel for the sea view, and I'm so grateful to the front desk for upgrading me to a more spacious room. The ocean view from the room was stunning.
I also visited the hotel bar on the 22nd floor because of the complimentary fruit tea, and to my surprise, the sea view from there was also fantastic.
The hotel is incredibly close to Jinmeng Beach, making it super convenient to go for a walk by the sea – just a few minutes' stroll.
All the staff were incredibly attentive and thoughtful, which made me feel very welcome and comfortable.
Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxing trip.

Staying at Chengde Qiwanglou Hotel truly felt like a home away from home. First off, it's not a towering high-rise, which immediately gives it a cozy, homely vibe. Plus, the hotel doesn't cater to a massive number of guests, only about a hundred or so at most, meaning they can offer a more personalized and attentive service, or as I'd put it, 'meticulous care.' This included thoughtful touches like having snacks, candies, and refreshing drinks available at the entrance, and sewing kits and other small emergency items in the hallways of each building.
From the moment you step in, everyone you encounter at this hotel actively engages with guests, listening carefully to their suggestions and needs. This level of personalized interaction is something I haven't experienced in hotels in recent years, and it's truly commendable. Guests who've stayed even just one day are greeted by the hotel's cat rubbing against their legs as soon as they walk in – it's incredibly heartwarming!
The restaurant staff were all very dedicated, helping guests choose dishes and ensuring nothing went to waste, which was lovely. When they heard we enjoyed millet porridge, they even sold us some to take back to Beijing! One staff member, Zhi, proactively offered to buy us tofu (from Zhang Yu), which was a huge convenience. Mr. Yu Changhong (Xiao Yu) provides exceptional service, treating every guest like family, and truly fosters that 'home away from home' feeling.
I do have a small suggestion: it would be great if the hotel could keep two electronic blood pressure monitors and phone charging cables on hand. When guests book a room, especially if they are elderly, it could be noted that a blood pressure monitor can be provided in their room, saving them the hassle of bringing their own. Having charging cables readily available would also alleviate any worries about charging phones.
The room was clean and tidy, and the hotel's location near Whiteley Shopping Centre with various restaurants nearby made it very convenient for dining and entertainment. The overall environment and service were good. I'd consider coming back again.
Everting is good ,1st time I came into China as a Muslim business man, I found this hotel have HALAL food options in a breakfast as well, location near to all my required factories.
One thing management need to focus on:
1- smoking is everywhere almost although they have displayed the sign ,”no smoking “ but no one care even hotel staff as well especially breakfast time staff also does smoking which gives me anxiety and sickness as a non smoker . In rooms people are smoking as well. It’s very good hotel but no following the rules non smoking . Next to the hotel is halal restaurant is available as well for lunch and dinner. Important thing they have prayer room as well.

Location: Right outside is Pigeon Nest Park, excellent location.
Ambiance: For this price, the hotel truly exceeded expectations. The room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable.
Facilities: All the necessary amenities were provided, including a mini-fridge, which was very useful.
Service: The front desk staff were warm and thoughtful, and they even offered a complimentary light dinner every day.
I'll definitely choose this place again when I visit Qinhuangdao next time.

GGuest UserThis hotel in Thaiwoo Town is perfect for family ski trips. It has its own ski rental shop, allowing for ski-in/ski-out access, which is ideal for ski enthusiasts! The hotel also offers excellent dining options, hot springs, and the 'Thaiwoo Night' performances, which are incredibly diverse and entertaining. The service is exceptional, especially Richard at the front desk. He was so helpful and patient during check-in, explaining all the services and how to use them, and even sent detailed information via WeChat. He promptly resolved many of our issues through WeChat during our stay! I'll definitely be returning to Nanshanli Hotel and highly recommend it to everyone!

LLizicoffeeThe hotel's location is super convenient, really close to the Mountain Resort – just a few minutes' walk. The Erxianju Night Market is right downstairs too. It's clean, the service is friendly and enthusiastic, and breakfast offers a great variety. The only minor downside is that the window is a bit small, but everything else is perfect.

CCocodaiTraveling with both the elderly and young kids, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to get away for the weekend. I had already set my sights on this hotel, and the drive here was smooth. The hotel grounds are lovely, very peaceful and comfortable. No TV is actually a genius move, really good! It really helped my family focus on relaxation and the outdoors.
The kids absolutely loved the private hot spring. They were a bit disappointed they couldn't go into the public one, so for 468 for 2 hours, we booked a private one for them to enjoy. It was fantastic, especially the little milk bath – so refreshing and cool.
BBeb ShanghaiVery modern / new and confortable rooms - we got upgraded to a two bedroom apartment and it was very comfortable. Right by the ski slope ; 3 buildings you can reach through the parking lot or if the weather allows it from outside where you’ll find plenty of restaurants ; ski rental / gear rental services just right outside the ski lifts. In the room though no plates / cutlery / cooking tools but as we are in touch on WeChat with a very nice lady, I guess we could have asked for it.
潇湘 was helpful all along and would immediately reply to all our requests.
A coupon system to get access to the breakfast restaurant ; other coupons to get discounts to rent gears and buy ski cards (a bit complicated when you don’tread Chinese) but we did manage to use them.
For ski passes: note that if you buy 4 hours ski pass, it starts when you swipe your first ski lift but I think the équipement rental is for 24h so you might not have to give back your equipment every day. A bit of a hassle every morning to queue up for ski pass / equipment in the midst of CNY.

KKwanDuring the past few days in Zhangjiakou, the most unforgettable thing is not the passion of the track, but the emotion brought by the front desk. My family sent a box of sports drinks before I left. I made sure to make sure it was delivered on the day of the game. The result was that I, a road ******, filled in the wrong district address. The courier was sorting from the south of the city to a novice post office in the north of the city. Just after the race ended at 4 p.m., the logistics information showed that ”the post office is already at the post office,” but we had to leave for the next city at 5 p.m, and looked at the postoffice address 10 kilometers away on the map, stamping our feet in a hurry. When she heard this, Ms. Park comforted me by saying, ”Don't worry, I'll find a way,” grabbing the keys to her electric car and running out. She returned 20 minutes later, sweating and panting, saying, ”The sorting officers had the wrong zoning area. I went halfway through the warehouse with them to find it!” She thought she could get it now, but she frowned again and said, ”The box is too big to fit in the electric car basket. I'm afraid it will be broken on the road. I'll run around and pack it in the trunk again!” Before I could react, she turned and rushed down the stairs again - the second time she saw her, she had a sweat scarf on her arm, With her hands tightly wrapped around the trunk, even her work shirt was soaked with sweat, but she smiled and said, ”I just borrowed a shock absorber from the post office, and none of the drinks damaged.” When she tore open the packaging, she also purposely put a note on the trunk: ”Remember to replenish electrolytes after the game!” At that moment, I suddenly felt that although the wind of Zhangjiakou was cool with the grassland, but the box of drinks and the smile of my little sister, the trophy of the race course was more heart-warming. When I met such a service in a strange city, I really wanted to share the warmth with everyone! She not only helped us to get the express, but also let me feel the ”heart for heart” service temperature. Next time I come to Zhangjiakou, I will definitely choose this hotel full of human touch.

TTimLimBad check in service at front counter lady. Seems more occupied with her task than guest service. I have to call and request for our sofa bed to be open. Given we book and indicated a family of 4, unlike other hotels whom immediately arrange all additional required items such as toothbrushs, slippers, towels, water, etc. Here I have to call to request for each items.
The wifi doesn't work. I have to physically bring my laptop to the front desk for assistance.. and even that was not able to connect.
Breakfast, average as the food are abit hard - hard noodles, hotdogs, breads..
Only cons is location near to ski and restaurants but so are a few hotels nearby.
Free scheduled public bus shuttle to/fro train station, have to walk about 7 mins to the bus stop.
As a Hyatt member, this is the worse Hyatt Place hotels I stayed. I believe surrounding hotels will have better guest services and competitive price too.

HHaobaishaoI stayed here last winter when I came to soak in the hot springs. I was very satisfied with the private room last time. This time I wanted to go around, so I asked the front desk to help me get a room facing the sea. Wang Zeyu, the front desk, quickly arranged the room after hearing our needs. Thank you! It’s a good experience to walk on the wooden boardwalk by the sea. The water lilies in the park are so beautiful. Especially this week, I went to the vegetation near the seaside (behind the hot springs), where there are many locusts, and it is a good season for the fragrance of locust flowers. There are also tourists and fishing enthusiasts digging on the beach. This time I know how the sandworms were found. It’s always a fresh experience to stay in this hotel. I don’t know what fun and delicious things I will find next time.
AAnonymous UserOn my way to Changchun, I randomly picked a hotel in a central location to rest, and it turned out to be amazing! There are actually very few amenities nearby; it's just this one magnificent 'castle' hotel nestled halfway up a hill, but seeing it was enough to impress me.
The suite was huge, easily one of the top three largest suites I've ever stayed in across the country. All the furnishings were so 'princess-like' – truly a princess's castle! From the design of the lamps to the shape of the bathtub, it truly earned the title 'manor castle.' The front desk lady who checked me out was very polite, and I absolutely loved their body lotion. She even specifically asked housekeeping to find the exact same one for me. I had already gone to the restaurant to eat, and she chased me down there just to tell me which one it was. Breakfast for the suite can be delivered to the room, and it's quite varied.
Now for the downsides: the showerhead in my previous room was broken. And there was a girl at the front desk with allergies who kept sneezing. We understand that, but I think it would be better if she wore a mask when serving customers. Since we arrived on a Monday, it felt like we were the only guests in the entire building, so it was very quiet. We arrived at 9:30 PM, and the hotel doesn't offer late-night snacks. Around 8:30 PM, I contacted the hotel butler hoping to have the hotel restaurant save a few dishes for us, but it turned out the restaurant closed around 8 PM. The bellboy was very young and a bit shy. When I was carrying my things out, he clearly wanted to help and ask if I needed anything, but he seemed to think about it for a long time, scratched his head, and then retreated to the side, haha! 😂
Because of the lush vegetation, the hotel has a good ecosystem and there are even little stray dogs, which are very cute – I personally love them. You'll also see many women dressed as princesses taking photos, and some even taking wedding photos. I'll definitely come back to stay a few more nights and experience it again.
MMichael Exploring China and BeyondWe booked into the Holiday Inn Suites at ”Holiday Inn Langfang”, this time around.
Our previous visits to this hotel, were not particularly good, with service ”a lack of service”, being the primary reason.
Nevertheless, we wanted to try the ”Suites” section this time, and also see if things have improved.
Unfortunately, we were yet again inconvenienced at check in.
This is the only hotel, in China, in our experience that seem to not be favourable towards foreign guests.
Bearing in mind that we have visited numerous hotels, and have been living and working here for around four years.
Other than the most unpleasant check in process, our overall stay was fairly good.
The ”suite” has a fairly spacious layout, and the rate is relatively affordable.
We were very disappointed to learn that the swimming pool, was not operational (this whilst it's advertised on Trip.com).
We do enjoy the Breakfast at this hotel, in fact, we have breakfast here at least once a week.
Previously, we found that the Dish Name Cards at the Breakfast Buffet, are only in Chinese.
This is still the case, WHY?
As it's an ”International Brand”, hence we expect a level of English as well.
This can be such a lovely Hotel, if only they would work on improving their service levels.
With that said, we received excellent service from ”Allen”, whom tried his best to meet our requirements.
(Perhaps, his management, could learn some professional courtesy from him).
There are numerous hotels around, and if this one wishes to remain busy, best they improve their service, especially towards foreign guests.
