I am writing as a traveller with a good experience in Yihai Garden hotel in Qingdao. I checked in first time with three nights for all visits in Qingdao and as planned left my two big luggages 29 inch at the hotel for storage. I went on in an adventurous mode to Yantai and Weihai for two nights. After I returned from Yantai, I met up with the receptionist Zheng Ao Ying (郑奥瑩) who helped me to arrange for re admission into the hotel. She did in a very timely and orderly manner and gave her the best she could. A big thank you to her and the hotel for such hospitality. I am writing to encourage more travellers to travel in a more adventurous manner to see more of the cities in Shandong. With the help of the people like in this hotel I am sure things will mostly work out at the end. 谢谢。

This prime location ensures effortless access to the airport, transport hubs, shopping centres, and major attractions.

**The Soul of Qingdao’s Heritage**
The *Liyuan*—a unique urban residential form born from over a century of cultural fusion—mirrors Qingdao’s evolution as a crossroads of civilisations. Our 1920s brick-and-timber courtyard complex epitomises this tradition, its enclosed layout historically nurturing neighbourly bonds and fostering the city’s vibrant *Liyuan* culture. These courtyards once thrived as stages for opera societies, folk artists, and the legendary "courtyard-hopping" (*Chuanli*) performances, including a 1932 appearance by renowned xiangsheng (comic dialogue) master Ma Sanli.
**Where Heritage Breathes Modernity**
Faithfully preserving the original architecture’s layout, structure, and aesthetic, we’ve revitalised the space through a "renewal through heritage" philosophy. Historical authenticity intertwines with contemporary comfort, immersing guests in a living tapestry of Qingdao’s past while delivering modern luxury.
**Thoughtfully Crafted Spaces**
• **Dining & Leisure**: All-day dining restaurant, artisan cocktail bar, specialty coffee lounge
• **Business Essentials**: Executive lounge, meeting rooms, self-service laundry

Here, every archway whispers tales of Qingdao’s artistic legacy, while every modern convenience ensures seamless urban living. Discover a sanctuary where time-honoured charm and present-day refinement coexist—a true embodiment of the city’s soul.

**Key British English Nuances**
• "Revitalised" over "revitalized", "harmonised" over "harmonized"
• Culturally embedded explanations: *Liyuan* (italicised as foreign term), *Chuanli* with contextual gloss
• Emphasis on lyrical flow over rigid literal translation (e.g., "living tapestry of Qingdao’s past")
• Period-specific references clarified for international audiences (e.g., "xiangsheng (comic dialogue)")
Let me know if you'd prefer further refinement of specific architectural or historical descriptors! 🏛️

Excellent
SShengsheng_This was my first time staying at an Atour Light hotel. The style is really interesting, with a predominantly blue theme, making it feel more geared towards a younger crowd.
The room size was pretty standard, not particularly large, but the cleanliness and service were excellent in every aspect. The front desk staff was very enthusiastic and quickly helped with any requests we had.
However, the biggest issue with the room was the poor soundproofing. You could clearly hear people laughing or talking loudly in nearby rooms. This is definitely something that could use improvement.

SSalehbaigiMy wife and I recently stayed at the Hampton by Hilton in Qingdao City and we are so thrilled with our experience that we felt compelled to share. This hotel truly stands out for all the right reasons and provided us with a comfortable, convenient, and genuinely enjoyable getaway.
From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the spotless cleanliness throughout the entire property. The lobby was bright and inviting, the hallways were pristine, and our room was immaculate. It’s clear that the housekeeping team takes great pride in their work, and it made our stay feel both safe and luxurious.
The staff deserves a special mention. Every team member we encountered, from the front desk to the dining area, was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. They greeted us with genuine smiles, were always ready with a local recommendation, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Their positive attitude really set the tone for our entire trip.
Now, let’s talk about the breakfast – it was excellent! We’ve stayed at many hotels where the complimentary breakfast is a bit of an afterthought, but not here. There was a fantastic variety of selections to choose from. We enjoyed hot items like waffles and scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, pastries, and healthy yogurts. The coffee was always fresh and piping hot, and there was a great selection of teas and chilled juices to start our day right. It’s a real game-changer to begin a day of exploring with such a satisfying and delicious meal.
What truly sealed the deal for us was the incredible value. The price was very reasonable, especially when compared to other hotels in a similar category that we've stayed at in Qingdao. You get so much more for your money here—the excellent breakfast, the modern, clean rooms, and the wonderful service make it a standout choice.
The location was another huge plus for us. The hotel is conveniently located near the metro, making it incredibly easy to get around the city without a car. Furthermore, the surrounding area is vibrant and full of life! We loved being able to step outside and find great restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance. It felt like we were in the heart of the action.
Finally, as non-smokers, we greatly appreciated that the entire hotel, including all rooms, was completely smoke-free. It made the environment so much more pleasant.
In summary, our stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Qingdao was practically perfect. It offers incredible value, combining cleanliness, exceptional service, a delicious breakfast, and a prime location. We wouldn’t hesitate to book here again and will be recommending it to all our friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful stay
CCharmelleMGreat location near the airport with convenient transportation and easy access to nearby areas. The breakfast was good with a nice variety of options, and the service was excellent throughout my stay. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to solo travelers, families, and friends.
NNanchengdaweiziThe room absolutely meets five-star standards, and the hotel overall feels like home. Breakfast is incredibly rich and varied, and the location is fantastic – just a few minutes' walk to May Fourth Square, and right across the street from Qingdao's bustling MixC mall. Winni, the staff member who checked us in, had an exceptional service attitude; seeing that we had elderly family with us, she thoughtfully arranged a non-smoking room on a quiet floor. The hotel gym is also quite good. The only minor issue is that the underground parking is a bit like a maze, but the parking attendant was very kind.
KKelvinTraveling with my child, I booked a king-sized bed room and was worried about the space, but the front desk upgraded us to a family-themed room, which was incredibly thoughtful! The upgraded room was a wonderful surprise, complete with a B.Duck themed tent, a Ludo game rug, and cartoon pillows. My child had a blast as soon as we entered, and all our travel fatigue instantly disappeared. The room had excellent natural light, with warm sunshine streaming through the large French windows. The wooden floor was warm and comfortable, allowing adults to relax and children to play without bothering each other.
The hotel lobby is grand and elegant, and there's also a 'Bird Club' kids' play area with slides and rocking horses, making it super convenient for parents to relax while their kids play. Molly, a staff member, provided smiling service throughout, and check-in was efficient and patient, full of care in every detail. This hotel is my top choice for family trips; the proactive and warm gesture of upgrading our room was a huge plus. I highly recommend it to families visiting Qingdao with children!
GGuest UserThe room environment was great, and the front desk staff was incredibly nice. The location is also excellent; you can walk to many restaurants. It's also very close to the beach, just a ten-minute walk away. I'll definitely book here again on my next visit.
AAnonymous UserQingdao is good anyway. This place is also close to the beach. It's just that the road was under construction when I went there, so it was not very convenient to walk. That's the only shortcoming. The front desk service was also very good, and the breakfast was also rich.
AAnxious but kind📍The Maizkaren Hotel boasts an excellent location, situated directly in front of a large shopping mall and a subway station. This positioning provides immense convenience for guests, making it easy to access shopping, dining, and transportation options. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this central location is a standout feature that can significantly enhance your stay.
💸Price:
One of the hotel’s most appealing aspects is its budget-friendly pricing. For travelers who prioritize affordability, the Maizkaren Hotel offers good value for money. This can be particularly advantageous for longer stays or for families and groups who need to manage their budgets carefully.
🧼Cleanliness:
The hotel had an unpleasant smell. This is a significant drawback as cleanliness is a fundamental expectation for most guests. An unpleasant odor can stem from various issues such as inadequate cleaning, poor ventilation, or plumbing problems. This aspect requires immediate attention from the hotel management to ensure a better guest experience.
Basic Room Amenities: Comfortable beds, clean linens, working air conditioning/heating, and essential toiletries.
🛜Wi-Fi: Available for free.
📈Recommendations for Improvement:
1. Address the Smell Issue: Conduct a thorough investigation to identify the source of the unpleasant smell. This might require deep cleaning, improving ventilation, or fixing plumbing issues.
2. Maintain Competitive Pricing: Continue to offer affordable rates to attract budget-conscious travelers.
3. Enhance Cleaning Protocols: Implement stricter cleaning protocols to ensure all areas, especially common spaces and guest rooms, are clean and odor-free.
4. Improve Amenities: ensure that all room amenities are in working order.
Maizkaren Hotel in Qingdao offers an unbeatable location and a budget-friendly price, making it an attractive choice for many travelers. However, the issue of the unpleasant smell needs to be addressed immediately to improve the overall guest experience. With some attention to cleanliness and maintenance, the hotel can become a more appealing option for visitors to Qingdao.
Much love ❤️

GGuest UserThe room's location is pretty good, quite close to Licang District center, Wanda Plaza, and Licun Night Market, and transportation is also very convenient. The front desk service attitude was also good. The downside is that the room isn't very soundproof, and the TV in the room didn't work. I reported the TV issue to the front desk, but it still couldn't be watched properly. Overall, the experience was decent, and the room price wasn't expensive for a National Day holiday trip.
