"This hotel is decent. The location is great, and check-in and check-out are done via self-service machines. You also pay taxes at these machines. Overall, it's a pretty good hotel. When choosing, make sure to pick the newer building, not the old one, as the new building is recently renovated and generally much better. It's only about a 10-minute walk to Kyoto Station. There are laundromats nearby, as the hotel itself doesn't have a laundry room."

"The room is spacious. Everything is great. Only they don’t have hot water dispenser. The cleanliness is superb. Location is very convenient for us, as it is near to everywhere. "The location is great, right next to the subway, making travel and sightseeing very convenient. It's easy to get anywhere. The hotel's cleanliness was acceptable, and the staff were very friendly. On the first day, the room we were assigned had a window facing a cemetery, which was quite depressing. We couldn't switch rooms that night and didn't sleep very well. The next day, after reporting the situation to the front desk, the staff were very cooperative and helped us change rooms smoothly. If you're sensitive about the view outside your window, I recommend telling the front desk in advance to avoid rooms facing this direction when you check in. Overall, it's a convenient place for travel and a good base to stay."

"Booked this during the rainy season for just over 300 [currency unit], which is excellent value for money. I was very happy with the room assignment; high floor with a great view, and even though it's street-facing, it wasn't noisy. The facilities were excellent. The area nearby is a well-established residential neighborhood, not overly touristy, which is perfect for experiencing local life."

"Had a perfect stay at Tennen Osaka Onsen during our Kyoto trip. The hotel is clean, modern, and comfortable while still retaining some traditional Japanese elements in the room design, which gives it a unique and authentic atmosphere. The water pressure was excellent, and the complimentary onsen facilities were fantastic, with several different pools available to enjoy. One of the highlights was the generous complimentary offerings, including free-flow ramen and ice cream, which were a lovely bonus after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast deserves special mention — it was absolutely outstanding. There was a huge variety of choices, all freshly prepared and delicious. The staff continuously refilled the food, ensuring everything remained fresh throughout service. The quality of the ingredients was impressive, and guests could enjoy unlimited freshly fried tempura and fresh seafood poke bowls, which felt more like a premium restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast. Overall, an exceptional stay with excellent facilities, amazing food, and great value. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Kyoto."

"The hotel's location is pretty good: it's about a 5-minute walk from Shijo Subway Station, Exit 6, though you do have to cross a traffic light. There's also a gas station right next to the hotel! If you're a woman with heavy luggage, I wouldn't really recommend it! There's no elevator at the Shijo Station exit, so you'll have to carry your luggage up quite a few stairs. Room: It was quite spacious, even bigger than I expected. There was enough room to open up a large suitcase. Environment: The only downside was a slight smell in the bathroom! It seemed to be a drain odor, which can't really be helped. But it was still tolerable, I suppose! Depends on the person... On the 4th floor, there's a microwave, an ice machine, and vending machines! Very convenient! Service: Self-service toiletries are available to the right of the front desk on the first floor."

"The location is fantastic, very convenient for getting around. You pick up disposable amenities yourself, and overall it's clean and tidy. The room space is quite generous too (at least my friend and I could open our 20-inch suitcases simultaneously). The lady at the front desk was very friendly. If I go to Kyoto again, I'd definitely choose this place. The only minor downside is that the dryer is a bit inefficient."

"I've stayed at this hotel twice now, and its location right inside Kyoto Station is incredibly convenient. You don't really hear any train noise either, which is great. The rooms and overall environment are excellent. My only minor complaint is that the front desk staff seemed a bit perfunctory."

"Kyoto Century Hotel was one of our favorite hotels during our trip to Japan. We upgraded to one of the Kyoto-style rooms, and it was absolutely worth it. The room was incredibly spacious—especially by Japan standards—and beautifully designed with traditional touches. One of our favorite features was the enormous king-size bed. It felt exceptionally large and was incredibly comfortable. The room also featured a tatami living area, so we removed our shoes before entering, which made the space feel authentic, cozy, and relaxing. The bathroom was another highlight. It was much larger than we expected, with plenty of room to move around, making it feel more like a luxury hotel than a typical city hotel. The breakfast buffet was good, though not the highlight of our stay. There was a decent variety of options, the coffee was very good, and it was a nice way to start the day. The location is another major advantage, with Kyoto Station just a short walk away, making it easy to explore the city and travel to other destinations. Overall, I highly recommend Kyoto Century Hotel, especially if you're able to upgrade to one of the Kyoto-style rooms. The spacious accommodations, traditional design, comfortable bed, and convenient location made it a memorable stay."

"Very very dark in room. No view from window. No light coming in as opposite window is another building. Felt like a backpackers hostel, which I didn’t like. Can’t fault the cleanliness, however things are old. In saying that, we did not use the towels due to a bad damp smell -so I guess that’s a fault! Bed not the most comfortable, pillows very hard. One made of straw? Didn’t sleep very well. Lots of noise from street, loud music playing at 5am. Laundry room useful, but very dirty. Seems a place for 20-somethings backpacking on a budget. Another thing is they don’t clean the rooms, I didn’t really understand their policy on this, but they just refused to clean. I asked if they can change the rubbish bin and they just said to leave it outside. So things like teacups will be uncleaned/unchanged for days. I was told you can request to have the room cleaned but as I said, they refused. They do give you clean towels and comp water daily in a tote bag which is left outside the room. One member of staff was very nice, I told her about the room cleaning and she apologised. Staff very friendly and polite. Location is right in main shopping area on a main road."
