"The hotel's location is excellent, right outside Kyoto Station. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options around Kyoto Station itself. It's also very convenient for getting to Shijo (just take a bus from Kyoto Station's central exit) and to places like Arashiyama and Kifune Shrine. The airport shuttle stop isn't far either. The hotel is a bit older, but it's very clean and quite spacious for a Japanese hotel. It's great value for money for families traveling together. Highly recommend!"

"Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto.  Location:  the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls.  Train stations within walking distance.  Hotel Facilities and Amenities:  this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit.  You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.   I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.   Hotel staff service:  cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out. Overall:  if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality,  I’d highly recommend this hotel."

"”I highly recommend Mitsui Garden in Kyoto! The location is superb, with a bus stop and convenience store right outside. The room is quite large for Kyoto, big enough to fit two suitcases. My favorite part of the day was soaking in the public bath – it instantly relieved all the fatigue from a long day of walking. The hotel also offers luggage delivery service; it only costs 500 yen to deliver to Kyoto Station, super convenient. I'll definitely stay here again next time!”"

"The hotel was more than I expected. As soon as you get in the outside noise disappears. It has a big eating area and even a spot where you can make your own matcha tea. The hotel was clean and the room was spacious, quiet, and private. The staff is welcoming and helpful. They also speak English. Great location with many coffee shops and restaurants near by. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay there next time I am in the city. Bonus point... I got a beautiful towel arrangement on my birthday."

"The room was very clean, and the location wasn't too far from Kyoto's core areas. It was a bit of a walk to the subway, but definitely manageable. There's a convenience store nearby which was very handy. The entrance has a beautiful, traditional Japanese design. The room came with a clothing deodorizer, which is super useful in Japan. Most hotels in Japan don't provide bottled water, but I think there were plastic cups and an ice machine available for free on the fourth floor, along with a vending machine. The coffee packets offered on the first floor, though, were quite bad."

The rooms are decent, and it's not too far from Kyoto Station, but there's no public bath. You can pick up complimentary toiletries by the elevators. Staff greetings are a hit or miss. The biggest downside is breakfast; it's quite poor compared to other Mitsui hotels, with limited choices and average taste."

"Our plan to visit Arima Onsen was canceled, which led us to discover this Japanese-style hotel that also offers hot spring baths. Unexpectedly, it became the highlight of our Kansai trip. After a day of walking 10,000 to 20,000 steps, when my feet felt like they weren't my own, a hot bath and a session in the massage chair, followed by watching TV while enjoying the hotel's unlimited yogurt or ice cream, instantly revitalized me. Before bed, another soak ensured a deep, childlike sleep. The hotel's breakfast is another major feature. After an early morning bath, everyone came to the restaurant in their cotton pajamas, creating an orderly yet relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is quite spacious, and the staff's service is very professional and attentive. The layout is well-designed; guests remove their shoes for the tatami rooms, and staff frequently clean the floors and surroundings. The laundry room even has a dedicated area for women. Washing machines are free, and dryers cost 100 yen per use, which is very reasonable and convenient. I've already bookmarked their chain hotels in other locations. I hope to visit Japan often and stay here again."

"The hotel is very cute and clean, with a convenient 7-Eleven located right in front, which makes it easy to grab snacks or essentials anytime. However, the room is quite small and may not be suitable for travelers with large luggage. The breakfast time is quite limited, which can feel a bit rushed. One small downside is that while the front desk provides almost everything, it would have been nice if they also offered drinking water, coffee, or tea for guests waiting for their rooms. Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with good convenience, but there’s still a bit of room for improvement."

"Easily the best hotel we have stayed in Japan. Servic is great and room is clean. They even have matcha counter at the common area. Our favourite is the location. It's within walking distance from metro station and bus station. There's also a big supermarket just next door (you can see a lot of locals get their grocery there. Cheap sushi 🤤)"

"The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and they provided toiletries, including skincare and cleanser, which was a nice touch. The location was excellent, just next to Kyoto Station, making it very convenient to get around. Breakfast was good, with a slightly Western selection, though there were limited Japanese options. They don’t have a laundry room, but there is a self-service laundromat about 500 meters away."
