GGuest UserAlthough it’s a bit far to the Kyoto train station, if you know how to take the bus, there are 3 bus stops + 1 Shijouoomiya train station which are really closed to this hotel (only 6 to 10 mins walk), which can lead you to anywhere of the tourist spots !! 👍🏻 hotel located in a quiet street which gives you a well sleep at night. 😴The hostel of this hotel are helpful, they helped us to return our kimono via the local post since we are rush in time to travel around. 📤 They replied the email daily and fast, at the first day we couldn’t find their reception to check in (Just found out it’s a self check system that they had already sent you a password to your email earlier). 📧 They helped us to take care of our luggage after we check out our room, as we were going to nearby spots after the living. All the facilities and equipment are clean, you can tell they had mopped the floor, clean anywhere of the kitchen, restroom and sleeping room all the way around and leaving with no dust. 🪣👍🏻 my conclusion is, I will definitely come back to book their hotels, their signature brand “Risshisha”, next time when I come back to travel again. Once again, thank you for your 5 stars services !! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

GGuest UserI really liked the shower with a bathtub, and the capsule hotel itself was in good condition. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. I guess it might have been a unique situation. After checking in and going to my locker, there was a note saying I had an important message and to come to the counter. When I went, they told me someone was sleeping in my room? Excuse me? I was given room 106, but then they told me the guest from room 119 was sleeping in 106, and asked if I could just use room 119 instead? Room 106 was on the first floor, and 119 was on the second, and I was so tired from walking that I really didn't want to go up to the second floor. I initially asked if I could speak to the person who was supposedly sleeping there, using a translator. They said okay and went to check, but then there was no one in the room? But they said someone was sleeping there... There were signs of someone being there, like a charger, an overturned blanket, and other belongings. I asked them to contact me if they managed to talk to the person, but after a long wait, no one showed up. It was past 11 PM, and I just wanted to shower and sleep, so out of exhaustion, I said I'd just use room 119. After I showered, they brought the person from room 119! It was a foreigner, and all three of us were using different language translators to communicate, haha. They asked if I wanted to switch rooms then, but they weren't going to change the bedding again... I felt uneasy about it, so I just said I'd use room 119 and went to sleep. I really feel the initial handling of the situation was very disappointing. I still don't understand why someone was in a different room to begin with. Anyway, that's what happened, haha.

MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

AAnonymous UserThe hostel is really close to Kyoto Station, about a five-minute walk, and there are supermarkets, malls, and plenty of restaurants nearby. They have check-in guides in Chinese, the entire hostel feels quite new, it's clean and tidy, and there's an elevator. The common area even has a Nintendo Switch. Plus, you can store your luggage for free after check-out.

AAnonymous UserHaving stayed in Arashiyama already for 1 day at another nearby hotel, I hadn’t anticipated liking the area so much. I located Mulan Hotel and stayed in the dorm bed for 2 nights. Being the only guest there, the beds and common areas (such as bathrooms, kitchen etc) were clean. They had access to a washing machine and dryer which was appreciated after 2 weeks of travel. Presented with a discount coupon for the neighbourhood onsen, 2 minutes walk from the hotel is a must! They also have bikes for hire, which made exploring the local area and neighbourhood really enjoyable. Price is great for those on a budget. The bus stop to return to Kyoto Station is 80m from the front entrance. Be mindful its 15-20 minute walk to the major sites and main restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and I look forward to my visit there again soon!

SsinabroayaI was looking for a quiet guesthouse in Kyoto, and this one, a clean, 4-story building located in a residential area, fit the bill perfectly. The laundry facilities, shower room, kitchen, and lounge on the second floor were great. I enjoyed cooking my own meals and listening to music there – it was a really comfortable experience. From the 5th-floor rooftop, I could see Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. Kyoto Tower was also visible in the distance. Kamo River is nearby, so I went for runs in the mornings. Being a Class 1 water source, I saw many winter migratory birds and various other birds. I also saw many couples on dates and people taking photos. With Shichijo subway station right next door, I could get to Shijo Station in the city center directly. It was also convenient for trips to Uji City and Osaka. Attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Fushimi Inari-taisha, Kyoto National Museum, Sanjusangendo Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, Kyoto Women's University, and Kyoto University of Arts and Design are all close by. I often had lunch at the cafeteria of Kyoto University of Arts and Design before exploring in the afternoon. There's also a restaurant on the first floor where you can eat while looking out at the road towards Kamo River. There's a Sapporo Ramen shop nearby – I recommend the slightly spicy one for 1350 yen. There's also a CoCo Ichibanya Curry House. I tried the handmade tonkatsu with extra vegetables for 1380 yen – it was delicious! Additionally, there's an unmanned store selling frozen gyoza and frozen dim sum. I highly recommend the frozen dim sum, all for 1,000 yen. There's also a specialty liquor store that sells fresh sake from its refrigerated display. I recommend the sake wrapped in newspaper or plastic in the fridge. The production date is clearly marked on the label. It was truly excellent, a fantastic experience. I think I stayed for about 25 days. Initially, I loved the single room because the morning sun streamed in every day. Since it was winter, it was cold to sleep without anything, so I brought an electric blanket and stayed warm. A free-voltage electric blanket is essential. Later, an alumnus from my high school joined me, and we used the 4th-floor tatami room. The residential area viewed from the tatami room window was so peaceful and relaxing. Watching snow fall in Kyoto from there was a wonderful experience. And most importantly, the owner! The owner greeted us with a smile every morning, and their smile is beautiful. They spoke a little Korean, so we communicated using Papago and hand gestures. Since I don't speak any Japanese, I used Papago frequently. There's also Manita, the guesthouse's mascot, a charming young lady from Nepal on a working holiday in Japan. She smiles a lot and studies Japanese diligently. During my stay at Winter Villa, I saw the beautiful owner and Manita multiple times every day. Our communication involved a few English words, a few Japanese phrases, and Papago did the rest. If you want to walk along Kyoto's Kamo River and experience the city's tranquility, I highly recommend this place. I spent the winter here, and I can imagine how nice it would be to have a beer on the rooftop of Winter Villa in early summer, looking at the sky and stars.

KKyoto GodFUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.

VVeldaThis time I chose an apartment-style hotel, which is about a 1-minute walk from Exit 3 of Marutamachi Station on the Karasuma Line and a 2-3-minute walk from the Kinkakuji/Kiyomizu-dera bus stop. It is very convenient to reach various attractions. There are FamilyMart, 7-11, McDonald's, and supermarkets nearby. The room is spacious 👍, with kitchen utensils, oven, microwave, washer and dryer, electronic scale...all available. There is a large table in the room, which is a place where our family of five can go home every day to have late night snacks without being crowded. The teenagers enjoyed their stay very much and will choose this place again next time they visit Kyoto👍.

Bbill (citizen of asia)So its very near the temples and attractions so thats nice. Also away from the kyoto station so consider that if youre also into that. The hostel allowed me to leave my bag before and after checkout so thats perfect. It is also clean and well maintained, though toilet locks can be a bit tricky. They also have a cafe below, then a place to hangout with people and strangers. Have small kitchen with everything in it. They dont have free rental towel so heres that but its fine. Overall i will recommend this to my friends.
