Outstanding
GGuest UserHighly recommended! The hotel room is very large, and the price includes breakfast and dinner. You can see the pictures. The taste is very delicious and the portion is super large. You can eat as much as you want! The taste and product are no less than Michelin restaurants. The hotel is very clean and has built-in and external hot springs. It is quiet and comfortable. The boss's family will drive us to the mountain. There are very few rooms in the hotel. It is operated by the boss's family. The boss is very kind to help us move our luggage to the second floor, and all the dishes are made by him. After breakfast the next morning, he packed a large bread with his own jam and brought it to us on the road. It is really touching to feel such food, service, accommodation, and human warmth in Japan! It is recommended that you spend 1-2 nights in Kyoto to experience it. Be careful to eat less when you go, because you will really eat too much!

NNuninuniOnly reason i stayed here is bcoz its one of the few in kyoto to have natural onsen. I choose the bettei as i would have private onsen in my room. Price is steep as location is good. Overall a great stay and so expensive as all the drinks from the fridge are paid for. So please allow luggage space to bring home the drinks 😬

GGuest UserThis is the kind of traditional Japanese inn I love. The bathhouse is located outside the residence, keeping the room from getting damp and clogged. There's also a sense of ritual about going to and from the bathhouse. The bathhouses are separate for men and women, and shoes need to be removed at the entrance, so if you're shy, you can avoid them by seeing slippers by the entrance. Mornings and late evenings are the most pleasant, and rainy days are especially pleasurable. The breakfast and dinner meals are even better than those at Kyoto ryokan (Japanese inns). The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the utensils and presentation are beautiful. Sanzen-in Temple is just a short walk away, so you can go early, but I recommend Hosen-in Temple, less than 100 meters away. Refreshments are included with your admission ticket, and it's rightly called the ”Picture Frame Garden.” Sit quietly for a long day and relax.

MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is convenient. Although the room was small, it was clean. Since we were out all day, the small room wasn't an issue. One large suitcase was fine, but two would have been a struggle. My only complaint is the breakfast. I was surprised to find it was just a boxed meal (one day Japanese, one day Western), and the dining area was tiny, right next to check-in. The price difference between rooms with and without breakfast was about ¥200 per person, which feels like a rip-off for what you get. I barely ate any of it. There are plenty of coffee shops (with breakfast options) and good bakeries right outside the hotel. If you have any expectations for breakfast, I'd really advise against wasting your money on it here.

AAndrei SmirnovFully functional, nice smelling, with free evening ice-cream and exlusive tea, and great Japanese breakfast. The hotel sento is small, and the only one, splitting its time between women and men, so you can use it only limited time. The hotel rooms are also small.

GGuest UserEverything was superb with the one exception, for an onsen hotel that have one of the selling point, in room onsen bath, the water was just regular hot water, why would I need to stay at an onsen hotel with in room onsen bath if any bathtub with hot water would do? Trip.com site did not specify that it wasn’t hot spring water. But luckily there was a better room with actual hot spring water supplied to the room available for upgrade, so I spent the extra to make my stay absolutely perfectly memorable.

KKC333We loved our stay at Hotel the Mitsui. Super nice and zen design . Absolutely adore their lobby area, which I think is designed by Andre Fu. Always drawn into his work somehow. Breakfast food was okay, but the view really made up everything l. Super relaxing & beautiful Service was great. Most of them were able to speak English proficiently. There’s a thermal spring at their basement, which you have to call the reception before you go to ensure there’s enough space. Everything was well prepared, including swimwear, disposable underpants, towels, water, etc. Since they control the # of people, everyone has their own space and it still feels very private. Room is nice with many details. Love their huge selection of pillows available for guests. It’s not huge, but the space is well used. Location wise, I wouldn’t say it’s the most convenient, but if you take a cab, everything is reachable in 20 mins max, so it’s not too bad. There are still good restaurants and touristy places to go that are in walkable distance, so it’s not middle of nowhere. Overall, fantastic experience which I will recommend for others!

DDmitry NateWe stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style 😍 the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit. We were very pleased with our stay in this guest house.

MMibaobaoThe hotel boasts an excellent location, just about a ten-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station and a mere five minutes from Aeon Mall, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and subway and Kintetsu stations are also nearby. The hotel breakfast is also great, offering a good variety of both Japanese and Western options, and the service is very attentive. The public bath, however, is quite small. I was hoping to soak there every evening to relax, but on my second night, I encountered someone bizarrely scrubbing their feet and legs in the pool! I was so disgusted I immediately fled and never went back. Luckily, there's a bathtub in the room, so I ended up using that instead. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money, and I'm very satisfied! 🈵
