Having traveled to many countries and stayed in hotels of all levels, only a few have left a lasting impression, but this one is definitely one of them.
In a time when everyone is chasing after trendy B&Bs, Satri House is a rare gem. Every step reveals a new scene, each story unfolding in its own way. The owner has impeccable taste and unique craftsmanship; many small details are unforgettable and bring a smile to your face.
Many Chinese people might not be used to the black and white photos here, but even someone like me, with a sensitive nature, felt at peace here. ”Nothing exists, so where does the dust settle?”
Moreover, these past few days, with the rain, hiding in the small pavilion in the courtyard, letting the fan gently turn, I felt, for a moment, that the world consisted only of myself.
The wooden floors in the room felt wonderfully textured underfoot, which suddenly reminded me of a novel by Marguerite Duras.
The hotel has a new manager this year, an Australian, who is very nice; the receptionist, despite her limited English, patiently explained car prices to me, and the restaurant staff asked me in broken Chinese after breakfast if I enjoyed it. Everything was so simple and charming. It felt more than just staying in a hotel; it was a wonderful window into understanding Lao culture. Moreover, the hotel itself was incredibly photogenic, offering both sunshine and rainy charm.

SShenhuiThis hotel is nestled in a valley, with several acres of rice paddies at its heart, creating a very natural and ecological environment. You'll often see cows, chickens, and cats roaming around. The breakfast selection is quite extensive, and the Chinese food is incredibly authentic. There are two Chinese staff members at the front desk, so communication was seamless for me. Although it's a bit far from the city center, there's a shuttle bus every hour, which makes getting around very convenient. Highly recommend!

AAvrilIt’s quite a good hotel with a perfect location, rooms are colonial style, nice view from the rooftop. There’s a small gym on the 11th floor (like 2 thread mills and an exercise bike) and a swimming pool on the 12th. Good breakfast with a variety of egg dishes and even beef noodle soup.

GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at the 3 star Mekong Charm Hotel, so we decided to stay two night longer than planned. The location is wonderful. The breakfast Terrace is directly above the Mekong river.
The hotel manager lives for her work and is very helpful and friendly. We had nothing to care for. She organized a motorcycle and our train trip to Vientiane. If we come back to Luang Prabang this hotel will be our first choice.

MM432069****The hotel's exterior has a strong local flavor; every photo taken there is beautiful. The front desk has Chinese-speaking staff who are very friendly. While the room furnishings are a bit dated, the cleanliness is quite good. Because some rooms are under renovation, there's some dust during the day, but it doesn't affect occupancy.
The only downside was that our room was on the second floor facing the street, and the noise from passing motorcycles at night was quite loud and slightly affected our sleep. Those who mind this should consider carefully before choosing this hotel.

Let's go with cons, in a alley way , Google map can't find it, I called for 30/35 minutes no one answered the call, these is a construction going on in the property and property opposite ( if you are looking for a sleep late into morning ( forget it) construction starts 7:30/8:00 am , breakfast is served in the room ( day one with breakfast they served butter and ham as well ( day 2 none ) I asked and was told they ran out ( don't have - exact words ) I toms the reception about butter and jam( wa stone should be there next day ( the breakfast came no butter and jam - was told don't have ) I said go ask the front desk and then they got it ( by the time I am done with my breakfast ( they don't replenish toiletries ) I had to specifically ask for it( toilet paper is like a shredded paper ( not easy to use ) the view from the balcony is from the property that is opposite ( view is Villa Oasis) next door .
Pros - the front desk is helpful , they have bicycle for you to take and ride , they help you with your and travel and laundry , portion of breakfast is decent enough (choice of western and local ) but must tell them the time ( breakfast served on room and has to be pre booked , very close to night market , but 17 min walk from the Mekong river side ( night market famous for food) rooms are pretty big ( some with balcony )
Overall till the time the construction doesn't get over with the property and the property opposite o would suggest to stay away from this place as they start early morning banging around 7:30ish
And the amenities are cheap which is use and throw and they don't replenish ( good place of you love eating as night market is close by)
I am not a backpacker ( hence I won't ever consider staying in this place every again )

GGuest UserThe hotel was lovely, conveniently located near the night market and restaurants, yet tucked away from the main road. The rooms were spacious, clean, and boasted comfortable beds. Breakfast offered a good selection of high-quality items. A welcome drink and fruit were provided upon arrival. The staff were very helpful, providing us with information about local attractions, and we easily rented a moped from the hotel for 180k. The pool area was pleasant, though mostly shaded. Some noise from the main garden area was audible through gaps in the doors, but the hotel was generally quiet, so it wasn't a significant issue.

The bathroom and toilet are separate.
It's not completely clean, and you have to take that into account because it's an old building. The location is a bit far from the night market, but you can walk there, and I rented a scooter, so it wasn't difficult to get around.

GGuest UserDisappointing given this was trip.com recommended and had such a high rating. Receptionist barely spoke a word of English, didn't know we had a reservation, didn't know it was pre paid, had to call his boss on then phone to speak English to me to check us in. Room has coffee cups but no kettle, no coffee or tea. Under the cups was mould and dust. Old soap bar and toothbrush at the back of the sink. Asked for toilet paper and got told it was being ordered and would arrive the next day, next day we got nothing. Had to constantly ask for toilet paper and tissues. When we asked to change the towels we were handed a bundle of towels from the floor that were not even folded. The courtyard was messy with open Garbage bags around. The room was generally ok and the beds ok. The shower was good with plenty of very hot water. The lady receptionist and the man were both friendly and tried to help but basically had to call their boss on the phone to do absolutely anything and they were not really able to help with things. We asked about a possible late check out and were advised if we tipped the housekeeper we could stay until about 1:30 as the housekeeper goes home at 2pm and has about 12 rooms to clean that day. We checked out at the checl out time of 11:30 and the house keepers went straight to our room to clean it. Surely if the other 12 rooms all checked out at check out time they woul be cleaning those rooms? And how much do you tip? It was very ambiguous and they said they didn't want to end up charging us if we checked out late. It really seemed like - if you want to check out late then you need to pay our staff for staying longer, we would have been happy to pay an agreed amount but to leave a tip and not suggest an amount was not very clear.
It amazes me how this place gets such a good score. The location is good, there are nice restaurants nearby but the service is poor.

GGuest UserI frequently travel to Luang Prabang for business and have stayed in hotels of all sizes. This hotel truly impressed me. It has a pool with crystal-clear water. It's said to be the newest hotel to open in Luang Prabang. Despite being newly renovated, the room must have been aired out beforehand; it was odorless and very clean! The breakfast was also excellent, just like eating out—local Laotian flavors, with noticeably fresh meat and vegetables! The front desk staff seemed Laotian, but they could speak both Chinese and English! The service was also very friendly and attentive! The location is also excellent, off the main road, avoiding the traffic noise. It's quiet and comfortable. The night market is just a seven- to eight-minute walk from the hotel! Perfect for families!
