A luxury retreat nurtured by the ethereal landscape of Cangshan Taoxi Stream, integrating lifestyle aesthetics, local culture and nature healing. It is a timeless vessel and spiritual sanctuary crafted by its owner over more than a decade along the Eighteen Streams of Cangshan.
The brand Taoxi Mengdie originates from the inscription "Mengdie Zhuang" by the great Chinese scholar Master Nan Huaijin, paired with a profound devotion to Dali’s mountains and waters. Rooted in poetic living beneath Cangshan, it has evolved into a secluded paradise. After years of meticulous refinement, from a secluded mountain residence to an exclusive retreat blending wild luxury and private hot springs, every space is infused with the breeze of Cangshan, the moon of Erhai Lake, and the poetic warmth of Dali.
More than a lavish yet impersonal hotel, it is an immersive journey of nature healing, cultural immersion and inner awakening.
In the morning, hike along Cangshan, listen to the murmuring Taoxi Stream, and watch mist drift through pine forests. In the afternoon, sip Dali tea in a Zen courtyard, as sunlight dances over Bai ethnic wood carvings. At night, fall asleep to mountain breezes beneath a sky full of stars.
Within its 53 garden-embedded guest rooms, we weave Bai intangible cultural heritage, local art, yoga, meditation and nature healing into every moment. Here, guests release fatigue, find peace in culture, and reconnect with themselves amid nature.
At Taoxi Mengdie, you do not just stay at a manor — you experience Dali in its truest form:
Cangshan as your backdrop, Three Pagodas as your mirror, mountains and rivers as your neighbors, poetry as your companion. A life where ordinary days are lived like poetry.
"This hotel is absolutely wonderful! The ambiance is elegant, and the rooms are spacious and bright. It's very quiet, and there are plenty of relaxation areas where you can enjoy a pot of tea – it's incredibly pleasant! After all the stress from work, this vacation with my family instantly felt restorative. The air quality is also excellent! The front desk staff provided outstanding service; they were so warm and welcoming. The room even came with a variety of snacks and fruits. My child was super happy, eating dragon fruit while taking a bath, she said it was amazing! Breakfast had a great variety, and the noodles were delicious too. We just took our time, strolled around, and enjoyed the sights."
