Shenzhen Metro Map: 16 Lines, Stations & Hours

If you're coming from a city like New York or Chicago, the first thing you'll notice about the Shenzhen Metro isn't just its scale but also its efficiency. The stations are clean and easy to navigate with clear English signage.
However, it's not a 24-hour transportation system. Understanding the map and closing times helps for a smoother ride.

Shenzhen Metro Lines & Stations
With over 16 lines and 630+ km of track, the Shenzhen Metro is a massive web. Instead of memorizing the whole map, just remember these "Big Four" transit lifelines:
Tourist Backbone, Line 1 (GREEN)
- Key stops: Luohu (a primary getaway to Hong Kong), Huaqiangbei (the world's largest hardware market), Laojie (for street food & budget shopping), Window of the World (theme park, best for families).
Business & Coastal, Line 2 & 8 (ORANGE)
- Key stops: Civic Center (visit Shenzhen Museum or the bookshop), Futian (for high-speed rail, if you're heading to other cities like Guangzhou & Hong Kong), Sea World (a massive outdoor plaza with luxury dinner), Yantian Road (close to beaches).
Express Airport Link, Line 11 (DARK MAROON)
- Key stops: Bao'an Airport (the station is located right inside Terminal 3), Houhai (home to "Coastal City", great place for dining & shopping), Qianhaiwan (see Shenzhen's "Manhattan in the making."
Tech & Innovation, Line 13 (LIGHT ORANGE)
- Key stops: Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint (HK Boarder crossing), Hi-Tech Park (perfect if you're in business trip), Guanging Science City (the research hub for science).

💡 3 Insider Tips for the Stations
- Follow the Colors: Every station has a "thematic" color wall.
- The "Exit Strategy": Once you tap your phone to exit the turnstiles, stop and look at the walls. You will see a massive, bright yellow map. If you take Exit A instead of Exit D, you might end up on the wrong side.
- Toilet Logistics: Unlike most US subways, almost every Shenzhen station has a restroom. They are usually located near the ends of the platforms or just outside the fare gates.
Shenzhen Metro Map - Operating Hours
Generally, the network breathes between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
Service Type | Typical Start | Typical End |
Standard Weekdays | 6:00 AM | 11:00 PM |
Weekends / Holidays | 6:00 AM | 12:00 AM (Midnight) |
"Half-Way" Final Trains | N/A | ~12:30 AM |
✔️Watch for "Short-Run" Trains: After 11:00 PM, some trains on Lines 1 and 3 only go halfway. Check the platform screens to ensure the train actually reaches your final stop.
📱 Essential Apps
Since Google Maps can be hit-or-miss with real-time data in China, grab these:
- Baidu Maps or Amap: The gold standard (even if you just use the icons).
- Apple Maps: Surprisingly accurate for transit times in China.
- Alipay / WeChat Pay: You’ll use the "Transport" mini-app here to scan a QR code at the turnstile. No physical tickets needed!
💡 The "Plan B" (When you miss the last train)
If it’s 11:30 PM and you’re stuck, don't panic. Shenzhen has a massive fleet of electric taxis (the blue ones) and Didi (China’s Uber).
- Cost: A 20-minute ride will likely cost you $5–$10 USD—significantly cheaper than a Lyft in LA or NYC.

Staying at the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen Futian exceeded my expectations! The breakfast area was quite busy, so my family and I opted for the executive lounge section, which was lovely and quiet.
I especially want to commend the restaurant service – the tables were kept meticulously clean and tidied promptly and attentively. The Crowne Plaza noodles were incredibly fragrant and authentic, and the freshly made omelets were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Every bite was absolutely satisfying. A delicious breakfast definitely kicked off a great day, and the thoughtful service was truly heartwarming. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Shenzhen!FromBRL 516

Direct access from Convention & Exhibition Center Metro Station, right next to Huangting Plaza, making dining and shopping super convenient!
The hotel has an old-money vibe, with an impressive lobby and warm, attentive front desk service.
The room was spacious, with a window view of Futian CBD. The 1.35m twin beds easily accommodated two adults and two children. We also received welcome fruits and chocolates!
The executive lounge offered a good variety of dishes and tasty food. We had afternoon tea and dinner there and left feeling very full. The breakfast on the first floor included congee and instant noodles with luncheon meat and egg!
The gym and pool are managed by Prada and are very popular! I particularly loved the pool (1.7m deep); the water was very clean, and the service was good too.

Huanggang Port and Futian Port Shenzhen|3.55km from city center
I planned a trip during the Chinese New Year and compared several hotels before finally choosing the Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen. I was drawn to its location, and we arrived as scheduled on the fifth day of the New Year. Our group of six took a taxi from Shenzhen Bao'an Airport to the hotel, which took about half an hour. I guess there wasn't much traffic due to the holiday.
Upon arrival, I noticed it's in the Futian Free Trade Zone, and Futian District is Shenzhen's city center, close to Futian Port. The hotel has a fairly large footprint. The lobby has an old-money vibe, which is understandable as it's one of Shenzhen's older five-star hotels, so it's a bit dated. We booked one Deluxe King Room and two Select Twin Rooms. The hotel is divided into an East Wing and a West Wing. The Deluxe King Room was in the East Wing, and the Select Twin Rooms were in the West Wing. It's worth noting that the two buildings are quite far apart. You can access the East Wing directly from the lobby floor, but for the West Wing, you need to take an elevator up to the 5th floor, then navigate three corridors, walking for about a minute to reach the West Wing, and then use your key card to go up to your floor. It's a bit of a trek and not a direct elevator ride. I suspect the West Wing was added later.
The Deluxe Room was slightly smaller and only had a bathtub. The king bed was 1.83 meters, quite large. The Select Room, I believe, is an executive room; it was very spacious, probably around 30 square meters. The twin beds were 1.35 meters, which is good compared to the 1.2-meter beds in other hotels. The bedding was very comfortable and soft. The bathroom had a shower. Although the hardware is a bit old, the service is excellent. The soundproofing in this room is genuinely good; we stayed for four nights and didn't hear any noise. Especially the surroundings of the Select Room – it was high, spacious, and open, creating a very comfortable and un-claustrophobic environment. The cleanliness was also superb. The hotel staff were very warm and friendly; it definitely lives up to five-star service.
The breakfast was standard, meeting the hotel's expected quality. If you don't include breakfast, it's 88 RMB per person for the buffet.
Getting around is also very convenient. Taxis and subways are readily available, and there are plenty of shared bikes (Mobike, Ofo, etc.) nearby. We cycled around the city many times. In February, Shenzhen was already warm enough for short sleeves, making cycling very pleasant.
For those going to Hong Kong, you can reach Futian Port by shared bike in 3 minutes to take the subway to Hong Kong, or take a taxi for 10 minutes to Futian Station (Gate 12A) and take the high-speed rail for 14 minutes to Hong Kong West Kowloon. Crossing the border is also very quick now.
This trip to Shenzhen was a great experience, mainly because I slept so well due to the excellent soundproofing; there was no noise at all. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Shenzhen, which is why I'm leaving this review.

We chose this hotel mainly because of its excellent central location in Fuzhou, as well as the facilities, which looked very appealing in the photos—and they really lived up to our expectations.
We enjoy swimming, and the hotel has a large pool with proper lanes, which was exactly as advertised. The water temperature was very comfortable at around 28–29°C. The fitness area is also extremely well equipped. For longer stays, this hotel is especially suitable, as you can easily spend time being active without leaving the property.
Overall, it’s a very solid hotel that offers all the expected services. The interior design is a bit traditional or slightly outdated, but everything was very clean. It’s not a modern design highlight, but in terms of amenities and overall value for money, it’s really good.
One small tip: there is a bar around the corner that belongs to the Shangri-La. However, we found the prices quite excessive, and the atmosphere felt a bit overly “hip.” The service there didn’t feel very welcoming to us, and we weren’t entirely comfortable with the vibe. Depending on your preferences, you might want to look for a different bar.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel.FromBRL 807

I booked two rooms for two nights over Chinese New Year, both advertised with 'city views.' However, we were given low-floor rooms that looked directly onto the large roof of the exhibition center across the street. We decided not to change rooms as they were otherwise decent. The hotel is 17 years old, and while the lobby shows a bit of age, it's very well-maintained. Our entire 7th floor had been recently renovated, which was a pleasant surprise. The gym is excellently equipped with a wide range of machines. The rooftop outdoor pool is also very comfortable. Location-wise, it's right in the heart of Futian District, surrounded by 6-7 malls, making dining, shopping, and strolling very convenient. The hotel service was absolutely impeccable; everyone greeted us with a smile! We had a very comfortable stay. The only downside was the breakfast, which wasn't quite ideal. While there was a good variety of items, it would be perfect if the taste could be refined and improved.FromBRL 1,532

I initially wanted to complain this time, but I was touched by the front desk staff NiNa's sincerity, so I'll just give an objective overview! I decided to stay overnight at the Langham, a place I frequent, for a meeting again. As usual, I tried to book using the Taikang corporate rate. To my surprise, the front desk called to inquire and then claimed the corporate rate wasn't available that day because the hotel was almost full! This blatant act of a big business bullying customers instantly infuriated me, and I questioned them. Taikang Group has year-round business and commercial activities hosted at the Langham downstairs, and their consistent patronage is so easily dismissed by refusing the corporate rate at this moment?! Isn't that laughable?! At this point, NiNa quickly came over to handle the situation. She sincerely explained the reasons and offered solutions. In the end, I booked using my Ctrip Diamond member status at a price of over 1400 (a price I've never encountered before on non-holiday or non-exhibition days). However, my internal dissatisfaction was mitigated by NiNa's adaptability and sincerity. I hope the hotel values such talent and considers the guests' perspectives instead of becoming arrogant and neglecting long-term customers when business is good! The moment I arrived at the treehouse, its appearance immediately captivated me. The dark wooden exterior with its triangular roof, gently embraced by vines and greenery, perfectly blended raw natural beauty with exquisite design details. Standing outside, I could see dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves and occasionally hear birdsong, a tranquility that made me forget the city's hustle and bustle.
Stepping inside, a feeling of warmth instantly enveloped me. A large bed with crisp white linens dominated the center of the bedroom, complemented by wooden furniture and warm lighting. Two large windows and an open door seamlessly brought the lush greenery indoors. I could enjoy the forest views right from the window, and the hand-painted tree patterns on the ceiling made the entire space feel like a cozy cabin in the woods.

A stay to remember: The Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen.
Review of Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen
Reviewed yesterday
There are hotels you visit, and then there are hotels that leave an imprint on your soul. The Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, belongs firmly and unequivocally in the latter category. From the moment I stepped into its soaring lobby, I knew this would be one of those stays that redefines what luxury hospitality means.
Arrival and Reception
First impressions matter, and the reception team at the Mandarin Oriental understands this with an almost intuitive grace. Jason Zhu greeted me with the kind of warmth that felt less like a rehearsed welcome and more like being received by an old friend who just happens to have impeccable professional instincts. His attention to detail was extraordinary — he had noted my preferences before I could voice them, and the check-in process was so seamless it barely registered as a process at all. Sicily and Marsh were equally outstanding, always present at just the right moments with a smile, a helpful suggestion, or a thoughtful gesture. Together, the three of them set a tone of effortless elegance that carried through every hour of my stay. In a city as fast-paced and forward-looking as Shenzhen, there is something deeply reassuring about a reception team that makes you feel as though time has slowed down just for you.
The Club Skyline View Room
If the lobby whispered luxury, the Club Skyline View Room declared it in full voice. Perched high above the glittering sprawl of Shenzhen, the room offered a panorama that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the city's dazzling skyline — a forest of illuminated towers stretching toward the horizon, the lights of Futian and beyond shimmering like an earthbound constellation. I found myself drawn to the window repeatedly, at golden hour, at twilight, and again in the deep hours of the night, each time discovering a different mood and a different kind of beauty.
The room itself was a masterclass in refined design. The palette was calm and sophisticated, with rich textures and thoughtful layering that felt contemporary yet timeless in the way the Mandarin Oriental has always done best. The bed was, simply put, superb — the kind of bed that makes you reconsider every mattress you have ever slept on and find them all wanting. Linens were crisp and impossibly soft. The bathroom was a sanctuary of marble and glass, generously appointed with the brand's signature amenities, and the soaking tub positioned near the window offered what might be one of the finest bathing experiences in southern China. Every detail, from the lighting controls to the turndown service to the quiet hum of climate perfection, spoke of a property that understands the difference between filling a room with expensive things and creating a genuine sense of place and comfort.
The Mandarin Club
Accessing the Mandarin Club elevated an already exceptional stay into something truly rarefied. The lounge itself is a beautifully curated space — serene, sophisticated, and blessed with those same sweeping skyline views that make this property so special. But what transforms the Club from a lovely room with good canapés into a genuinely memorable experience is its people.
Chelsea Zhou is a revelation and deserves a special mention. Her hospitality instincts are pitch-perfect; she anticipated needs I hadn't yet articulated, and managed to be attentive without ever being intrusive — a balance that even the finest hotels in the world struggle to achieve. Priscilla Pang was equally impressive, radiating a genuine kindness and professionalism that made every interaction a pleasure. Whether it was the afternoon tea service, or the evening menu and cocktails, Chelsea and Priscilla ensured that every moment in the Club felt personal, polished, and quietly luxurious. I returned to the lounge far more often than I had planned, not just for the excellent food and drink,FromBRL 2,104

Our stay at the Shenzhen Jinshawan Kaisa Marriott Hotel was exceptional. The Marriott brand's high standards of service were evident in every staff member, from check-in to daily inquiries. Their warm, attentive, and prompt responses made us feel comfortable and well-cared for throughout, truly enhancing the vacation atmosphere.
The hotel's private beach is right next to the property. While the sand isn't as fine and soft as Dameisha's, it's remarkably clean and quiet, with fewer crowds. It was perfect for the kids to dig, wade, and build sandcastles; they had an absolute blast, making it a great spot for a family beach outing. My only slight regret is that some children's activities are closed Monday through Friday, limiting options for younger kids. For full access to all the family facilities, I'd recommend visiting on a weekend.
Compared to other similar sea-view hotels in Shenzhen, the number and variety of children's play facilities here are a bit limited and basic, which might not appeal as much to older children. However, the park next to the hotel is spacious, lush, and peaceful. It was lovely to take the kids for a post-dinner stroll, letting them run around and burn off energy while enjoying nature's greenery.
Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money. The sea views, service, and environment are all top-notch. It's perfectly suited for families looking for a short getaway and a relaxed beach vacation, especially if your main goal is casual sand play and unwinding. I definitely recommend it.FromBRL 502

Overall, the Shenzhen Quchuang Hotel is a solid choice. Its location near Huaqiangbei is super convenient for getting around, dining, and taking care of business. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and both the hot water and internet were reliable. The staff were friendly, efficient, and quick to respond. It offers good value for money, making it perfect for business trips or short stays. I'd definitely choose it again next time I'm in town.FromBRL 156

Huanggang Port and Futian Port Shenzhen|3.51km from city center
The hotel's location and service were acceptable. However, the main issue was the noise: not only traffic sounds from the street outside, but also the regular shouting and dog barking from the military drills in the morning and evening. On top of that, there was a constant, rhythmic noise from the indoor facilities. Luckily, the hotel provided earplugs. If you're sensitive to noise, you might want to reconsider this hotel.FromBRL 415

My colleagues used to stay at Sentosa when they came for business trips, and this time my relatives came, so I arranged for them to stay here too. During check-in, Front Desk Agent Xiao Cui kindly upgraded us to a suite. Our whole family was there to send off our elders, and we even sat in the room for a while – it was a real lifesaver! There's a kitchen here, and my aunt and uncle said it felt very cozy. The arrangements were excellent!FromBRL 294
