"Was disappointed at the hotel initially because i booked a superior queen room with sofa for my honeymoon couple trip but they gave a me a wheelchair friendly room instead. It feels very weird to be showering and using the toilets, not to mention the room was dark and shabby. I went to the reception and they told me they are fully booked for the weekend, they think it’s the third party (Trip) who booked the easy access room for me instead. To be honest, i don’t know who is right and who is wrong but i felt unfair to be given a wheelchair friendly room to a couple who comes for honeymoon just because it is fully booked. I paid for the price but I need to suck it up just because you are fully booked? I went to reception and made a feedback and thankfully i got a normal room after (which is what i paid for). Will i return? Likely NO It leaves a bad impression of Edinburgh hospitality to me."

Hotel near New Town,Edinburgh
The Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. The Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Edinburgh. With Edinburgh Waverley Station just 700m away and Edinburgh Airport only 14km away, transportation is very convenient. There's plenty to do nearby, with Palace of Holyroodhouse, The Scotch Whisky Experience and Greyfriars Bobby Statue all within a short distance. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. This Edinburgh hotel offers parking on site. Germaphobes can rest easy - the level of cleanliness is highly rated at this hotel. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh from 22 February to 26 February 2026 in Room ***. Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly below the service and housekeeping standards expected of the Marriott brand. 1) 22 February 2026 (Check-in) Upon arrival, I immediately noticed several cleanliness issues with my room. The kettle was dusty and visibly dirty, the shower gel was completely empty, there were noticeable stains on the bed sheets, the shower room floor was unclean, and the shower water pressure was extremely poor. I reported these issues to the front desk on the same day. In addition, during the check-in process, the staff did not provide any information about hotel amenities, such as gym operating hours, availability of facilities like the ice machine or microwave, or other services. I only became aware of some of these facilities on my last day during check-out, which was disappointing. 2) 23 February 2026 The shampoo had run out and was not replenished during housekeeping services. I emailed the Front Office Manager regarding both the missing amenities and the ongoing low shower pressure issue. I did not receive any response. 3) 24 February 2026 The situation continued. Coffee and tea bags were not refilled, the stained bed sheets had still not been changed since Day 1 check-in, and both shampoo and conditioner were empty. I called the same Front Office Manager twice, and only shampoo was delivered. I then contacted the front desk twice more to clearly request conditioner, yet incorrect items were delivered again. As a result, the conditioner remained unreplenished for me for 3 consecutive days (22–24 February). 4) 25 February 2026 In the morning, I requested a new toothbrush through the front desk and was told housekeeping would provide one during housekeeping service. When I returned to my room after housekeeping, no toothbrush had been supplied. I later learned that when Trip.com contacted the hotel on my behalf regarding the service lapses, the Operations Manager informed them that everything had been “addressed and settled with me” which was not accurate. While individual staff members made partial attempts to assist, the repeated housekeeping lapses, lack of follow-up, and unresolved maintenance issue reflect systemic operational shortcomings rather than isolated mistakes. Throughout my entire stay (22–26 February), the shower water pressure issue remained unresolved. The hotel’s location is excellent and within walking distance of many major attractions, which helps save on public transport costs. However, good location alone does not compensate for the overall service deficiencies experienced during this stay. As a paying guest, I expected basic cleanliness, consistent replenishment of amenities, and responsive service, especially from a reputable hotel property like Marriott. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met during this stay."

Service staff are also very friendly and helpful even when busy and attending to several guests at once. Would highly recommend especially for first time tourists to Edinburgh. Only confusion was there are 2 APEX hotels almost next door to each other; make sure you are clear which one you booked."

"This was by far the most comfortable and cleanest accommodation of our entire trip! We booked various types of rooms – hotels, apartments, B&Bs, and countryside inns – and this one truly stood out. Every single spot in the room was exceptionally clean, absolutely spotless! The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks and milk, provided according to the number of guests. The towels were thick, the bedding was pristine, and even the countertop below the bathroom mirror was sparkling clean! The location is excellent, very close to the art gallery, making it convenient to get around. Downstairs, there's a Coop and a bakery, and it's not far from a very popular hotpot restaurant in Edinburgh. Shopping is also easy, with small shops like Jo Malone, Barbour, and The North Face nearby if you fancy a browse. If there's one thing that could be improved, it would be the laundry room – it's a bit too small and feels a little damp. Other than that, everything was perfect!"

"Room was quite small but very thoughtfully laid out. Bed was extremely comfortable and the amenities were good quality - Molton Brown toiletries, GHD hairdryer and Nespresso coffee machine. The complimentary drink at 5pm was a nice touch. The only downside was the lack of breakfast in the hotel itself. However, we had a good discounted breakfast at The Huxley and a 50% discount at Castle Terrace car park."

"I had a very satisfying stay. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the train station, and most of Edinburgh's other attractions are easily reachable on foot, which was perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and all the hotel staff were very welcoming. I saw other reviews mentioning that deposit refunds take a while, but I haven't experienced that yet. I'll update my review later."
