"Likely one of the best hotels in Suzhou. Beautiful garden at the back and great atmosphere. However, I do have some complaints. First, the room given to me is facing directly in front of the pool. So it was very noisy all day long from the kids. The room was also very dark. Next, the laundry is a huge problem. There were too many people using the very few washer and dryers in the hotel. The dryer was not effective and the cloth remained wet after 3 hours. It was a terrible experience. I also have to complain about a young man working at the front. I asked him where the laundry room was and he completely ignored me and started to flirt with a young female staff. This was really really unprofessional. Unfortunately not much is expected to be done about this. If there is anything else to add, then please provide some sanitizing wet wipes for the gym. The benches were not sanitized at all between usage."

The Scholars Hotel Suzhou Pingjiangfu (Shuxiangshijia Huisuojiudian Suzhou Pingjiangfudian) is located in the heart of Suzhou old town and handy for visiting the many local attractions and classical Chinese gardens found there. An attractive hotel, it features traditional Chinese-style architecture, courtyards featuring pools of water and sculptured rock. Guestrooms boast contemporary furnishings with traditional touches and all the usual amenities required for a comfortable stay.

"We booked the family suite, and it was a godsend for traveling with kids! It's a suite with two bathrooms, so no one bothered each other, and the bunk beds were a huge hit with the little ones. When traveling with kids, hygiene is always a top concern, and this hotel was one of the rare places where you could actually see the remote control for the disinfection, which made us feel incredibly at ease. As a family-friendly room, the toiletries provided for children were also very thoughtful – not only were they available, but they were individually packaged in separate bags. The check-in process at the lobby was also very welcoming; they even personally escorted us to the building, showing real dedication. The breakfast was excellent too, with attentive staff and a first-class environment. Having a washing machine was a bonus, though one of them wasn't working very well (something to improve), but another one was available, so it didn't affect our overall use. The location is unbeatable, right next to Pingjiang Road. They also included complimentary canal boat tickets, which was another plus. While waiting, there was even a non-heritage culture class in the lobby for kids, and the teacher was very patient. The 24-hour bookstore in the lobby also added a cultural touch, perfect for calligraphy, reading, or just relaxing. We'll definitely be back!"

"Exploring the Secluded Charms of Nanyuan – A Stay at Suzhou Nanyuan Hotel Having long admired the allure of Jiangnan in Suzhou, my recent stay at the Nanyuan Hotel finally led me to a tranquil haven hidden within the city. Stepping into the hotel, the new Chinese-style lobby exuded elegance and composure. Blue bricks, wooden windows, a screen adorned with ink-wash bamboo silhouettes, and a giant blue-and-white porcelain general's jar complemented each other, creating an Oriental aesthetic at every turn. The front desk staff were gentle and courteous, handling the check-in process smoothly and meticulously. They patiently explained the garden tour routes, and their attentive and thoughtful demeanor instantly melted away any initial fatigue. The hotel itself boasts a rich history, housing the former residence of Chiang Wei-kuo and ancient, robust cypresses within its grounds. The classical Suzhou garden scenery is truly the highlight, with winding corridors, pavilions overlooking water, intricately placed Taihu stones, and upturned eaves gracing pavilions perched above ponds. Strolling leisurely through the garden, dappled by tree shadows and cooled by breezes, the city's hustle and bustle faded away, leaving me to enjoy the serene tranquility of the garden. The housekeeping staff in the guest room areas were meticulous and dedicated, ensuring everything was clean and tidy. They were friendly and humble, their subtle attention to detail reflecting a truly warm service. The hotel restaurant had a wonderful ambiance; the glass conservatory was bright and spacious with elegant landscaping, and the dining service was attentive and orderly. The staff were enthusiastic yet discreet, providing just the right amount of service without being overbearing, yet always ready to respond to needs. This truly offered an immersive experience of the gentle hospitality characteristic of Jiangnan. This is not just a place to stay, but more like a habitable and explorable Suzhou garden. From the genuine and thoughtful care of every service staff member, from the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant, combined with the pavilions, flowers, trees, and profound historical heritage throughout the garden, my entire Suzhou trip was filled with warmth. Staying at Nanyuan, opening the window to a view of the garden, and leisurely appreciating the customs and scenery of Jiangnan was a rare and wonderfully satisfying experience."

The room decor was beautiful, especially the large bed, which perfectly embodies classical Chinese aesthetics. There was also a tatami tea table and a small arhat bed. The front desk even provides a sewing kit for mending clothes, all of which speaks volumes about the owner's excellent service. I'm definitely planning to stay here again on my next trip to Suzhou."

"Stumbled upon an absolutely stunning B&B while walking along Pingjiang Road! The front desk staff recommended booking through their platform. The room was incredibly beautiful and spotless, I loved it! It had smart controls and was very spacious. They even offered a welcome gift, which was such a thoughtful touch! The shower had great water pressure, the hairdryer was powerful, and there were even toilet seat sanitizing wipes in the bathroom – seriously the most considerate B&B I've ever stayed in. The location is also fantastic, right by Pingjiang Road. Plus, they have a hand-drawn map on the wall showing local attractions, which is super helpful. I'll definitely choose this place every time I visit Suzhou in the future! Hope they always have availability, haha."

This time, my sister and I visited Suzhou again and booked this hotel 🏨. We stayed here last year, and both the environment and service were excellent! So, we chose to stay here again. The hotel 🏨 is conveniently located right on Pingjiang Road. After checking in, you also get two complimentary tickets to a Pingtan teahouse 🆓. Last time, we had a king-size room, and this time we got a twin room. There's even a rocking chair in the room that my sister found so comfortable she didn't want to go out sightseeing! The hotel 🏨 room rate includes breakfast, and both the braised pork noodles and braised beef noodles were delicious. After breakfast, we took a nice stroll along Pingjiang Road!

I specifically chose the Kimpton Suzhou Bamboo Grove, and the overall experience far exceeded my expectations – highly recommended! The room was spacious and airy, with a simple yet elegant New Chinese decor that felt incredibly premium. The natural lighting throughout the room was excellent, and the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opened directly onto a private scenic balcony. Stepping inside instantly melted away my travel fatigue. The balcony was furnished with a lounge table and chairs, offering an unobstructed view of the Jiangnan streets and river. In the morning, I'd enjoy a cup of coffee with the sunrise, and in the evening, I'd sit quietly, feeling the evening breeze and watching the sunset – the ambiance was simply perfect, and it was great for photos. The room's cleanliness was impeccable, the bedding was soft and skin-friendly, and the mattress offered just the right amount of support. Toiletries and the minibar were fully stocked, the air conditioning and hot water worked perfectly, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a wonderfully quiet rest. The hotel service was thoughtful and attentive; check-in was efficient, Cherry was quick to respond to any requests, and the breakfast was exquisite, bountiful, and delicious. The private balcony is the biggest highlight of this room type, providing both ventilation and a private little oasis for relaxation, making it ideal for couples on vacation or individuals looking to unwind. For the price, the value for money is outstanding. Next time, I'll definitely book the 'Cool Enjoy Balcony Room' again. I recommend it to anyone who loves scenic views and seeks a relaxed vibe!

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but it's conveniently located if you're planning to visit the nearby mountains or Taihu Lake. Right next to the hotel is a shopping mall with a Cha Yan Yue Se (tea house), making dining and shopping very convenient. Although this is a Marriott extended-stay brand, we discovered it's a hidden gem for families with kids. During the May Day holiday, they had daily kids' activities. On our check-in day, we participated in a kite-painting activity at the lobby bar, and after painting, we flew the kites on the lawn in front of the hotel. My child had an absolute blast! We were assigned the smallest suite and received complimentary welcome desserts. The front desk staff, noticing we had a child, proactively sent kids' toiletries to our room, which felt like a very thoughtful touch. The room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, perfectly meeting the needs of an extended stay.

I arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.
