"The hotel was very crowded, and there was a wait for check-in. However, while waiting, the front desk gave us temporary room cards so we could visit Panmen. The pool was the most crowded spot, with many coaches giving lessons both indoors and outdoors. It was swarming with people, and they splashed water everywhere without regard for others. It was only less crowded around noon and early in the morning. The breakfast was good and served until 10:30 AM. Although there was no announcement before closing, the local specialties were all delicious, and the fruit was very sweet. The only fresh juices available were carrot and cucumber. However, during our stay, there was renovation work on the floor above us, specifically floor drilling during nap time, with no prior communication. The assumption that guests wouldn't be in their rooms was very disappointing. We called the front desk to complain about the noise, and they kept saying they would look into it, but nothing was done. Eventually, my family had to go upstairs themselves to ask the workers to stop. Afterwards, the duty manager came to apologize and asked if the renovation could continue for just another hour... I almost laughed out loud. We paid to stay here, not to listen to construction noise. They finally offered a welcome fruit basket as an apology, which was also quite amusing, as other hotels provide welcome fruit upon check-in, but here you only get it if something goes wrong. Neither during check-in nor check-out were we asked if we had a car, nor were we informed that we needed to scan a QR code for free parking. It was also difficult to reach the front desk by phone, as it often rang for a long time without anyone answering."

There are many restaurants nearby, offering plenty of choices for breakfast and dinner, and ordering takeout is also very convenient. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Suzhou hotel offers parking on site. According to our guests, the location of this hotel is one of the best around. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"Five stars are good, but I'd give it six! First, let's talk about the location: Suzhou's old town is absolutely packed on weekends, so a good hotel location is crucial for an enjoyable trip. Exit the hotel and turn right, and Pingjiang Road is just 50 meters away. Go another kilometer, and you'll find the Lotus Market at Baitai Park and the Flower and Bird Market on Pishi Street—all showcasing the best of old Suzhou. After parking at the hotel, the best way to explore is to rent an electric scooter. Feel the breeze through your hair under the trees. Within a 5-kilometer radius, you can reach almost 90% of old Suzhou's attractions. It's pure bliss! Room facilities: If there's one minor drawback, it's that the hardware is a bit older. But then again, with such a great location and this level of service, it wouldn't be this price if it hadn't been open for a while. So, in a way, it's just the other side of the coin. Of course, the hotel has made many efforts, such as installing Washlets later on, and the linens are well-maintained. What's particularly amazing are the hotel's teas—they're truly excellent. Breakfast: Absolutely a bonus! You must try the Cifan Tuan (sticky rice rolls), sweet with preserved mustard greens—the texture is simply first-rate. The young man making the rice rolls was also very kind, chatting as if with family. It seems they also have a seasonal dish recommendation among the stir-fries. On the day I visited, it was edamame with water bamboo, which was incredibly tender. Finally, the overall service: The staff at the front desk, both the young men and women, were excellent. It was hot, and I appreciate their thoughtful service."

Hotel near Guanqian Street/Pingjiang Street,Suzhou
The mansion traces its origin back to the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1723–1735). The first owner, a tea merchant surnamed Gu from Shantang Street, purchased this plot and built the courtyard residence. With a history of nearly 300 years, he laid the foundation of the five-entry compound, defined its courtyard layout and dug the ancient well, and the place has been known as "Gu Mansion" ever since. The Gu clan of Suzhou ranks among the four great scholarly clans in the Jiangnan region, renowned for valuing education and literary heritage for generations. This Gu Mansion carries forward the clan’s scholarly legacy. In 1907, a modern school was established within the compound, pioneering progressive education in ancient Suzhou — hence the brand name "1907". Listed as No.46 Suzhou Protected Historical Building, the mansion is now renamed Suzhou Huafu · 1907 Private Hot Spring Mansion. Constructed in the late Qing Dynasty, this grand five-entry Suzhou-style gentry residence has stood for over a century. Three complete courtyard sections remain intact, preserving original heritage elements including three Qing-dynasty carved brick gateways, ancient wells, wooden lattice windows and grey tiled upturned eaves. The century-old wooden beam frames, carved window grilles and authentic Suzhou courtyard layout are fully retained, every brick and tile embodying the lifestyle and culture of elite Jiangnan families in the late Qing era. Having weathered centuries of change and witnessed the evolution of ancient Suzhou’s alleyways, the mansion was restored with strict adherence to its original texture. No alterations were made to the antique wooden structures, bluestone courtyards or classical gardening techniques, preserving the timeless charm of this centuries-old residence. Tucked in the heart of Pingjiang Road Historic District, the mansion houses only 9 guest rooms, each equipped with an exclusive private constant-temperature hot spring pool accessible directly from your suite for undisturbed warm spring relaxation. Rooms retain the original ancient wooden beams and high ceilings of the heritage house, paired with modern amenities including high-definition smart projectors, premium bathroom fixtures and custom luxe linens, seamlessly blending the cultural heritage of the Republican-era mansion with contemporary comfort. The compound features a traditional Chinese tea room and scenic courtyard dotted with layered greenery. White walls and black tiles frame blooming plants, offering serene views of classical Suzhou garden aesthetics from every quiet corner. Within walking distance of Qili Shantang Street, Pingjiang Road Historic Block, Humble Administrator’s Garden, Guanqian Street, Lion Grove Garden, Chang Garden and other iconic landmarks, the mansion delivers peaceful seclusion amid the bustling ancient city. We provide one-on-one exclusive butler service for all guests. Bookable experiences include courtyard afternoon tea and slow leisure in the heritage garden. Soak in your private hot spring and dwell within a century-old mansion to immerse yourself in the profound humanistic charm of ancient Jiangnan. It is an exclusive retreat ideal for romantic getaways, small family gatherings and tranquil cultural stays.

The bathroom was huge too! It's just a few hundred meters straight from Suzhou Station, and you can even see the station from the window. The decor is completely different from typical chain hotels; it has a millennium-era wooden style that felt like stepping back into my childhood. Even though it's older, it's incredibly clean. It's right next to Vientiane City Mall, with another mall directly opposite, so dining and shopping are incredibly convenient and enjoyable. What's more, you can find authentic Suzhou local snacks right in Vientiane City, saving you the trouble of searching elsewhere. This was a huge plus, especially traveling during the scorching summer. The hotel really emphasizes thoughtful, non-intrusive service. The rooms are spacious and quiet, offering beautiful views of Suzhou's morning and nightscapes. On the last night before we left, the AC wasn't cooling, and the bread left in the room wasn't fresh. The front desk promptly prepared fresh bread and had it ready to be delivered to our room first thing the next morning. They also offer a bed-joining service and have many family-friendly activities, making it perfect for family trips. Downstairs is the Zizhi Garden, a restoration based on historical documents. Though small, it perfectly captures the charm of a Suzhou-style garden. I personally think it's even better for photos than the larger garden attractions because there are fewer crowds. Taking pictures, feeding the fish, and enjoying the scenery there is truly delightful."
