Hotels in Shangri-La
Tucked away in the remote paradise of Shangri-La, the Banyan Tree Ringha (Xianggelila Ren'an Yuerong Zhuang) is a collection of 15 charming Tibetan farmhouses, 11 apartments and 6 spa suites. Shangri-La Diqing airport is a 45 minute drive away. Each building is a bona fide Tibetan farmhouse, carefully relocated log by log. Outfitted with luxury fittings in keeping with the surrounding environment, the overall effect is an experience that is both meticulously comfortable yet authentically Tibetan. Both Western and Chinese cuisine are served in Llamo, where signature dishes include deep-fried yak tenderloin, Yunnan roasted duck salad and Tibetan style hot and spicy noodles. Those seeking more adventurous surroundings in which to dine can opt for a Highland Romance, saddling up on horseback and being led by staff through the plains to the banks of a river for an open air dinner with a soundtrack of gurgling waters and reed pipes. Tea lovers will love the Jakhang Lobby Lounge where hundreds of varieties of the humble leaf await.Like any Banyan Tree resort, the spa is the star here. The epitome of romantic serenity, unwind with a selection of spa treatments inspired by traditional Himalayan practices and the ancient Chinese Five Elements philosophy. Guests can also take a little piece of Shangri-La home from the Gallery, a boutique showroom featuring locally produced clothes, handicrafts and art.

"I arrived at Banyan Tree Ringha completely exhausted. Was a long road trip day from Lijiang. The first night was not exactly magical. I barely ate dinner, had to postpone my spa appointment because I wasn’t feeling well, and somehow ended up holding an all-night conference with a fly in my villa. Needless to say, I barely slept. But somewhere along the way, the entire stay started to turn around. The staff quietly took care of things without making a show of it. My unfinished dinner was delivered back to my room. When I couldn’t find transportation the next morning because of the resort’s remote location, the front desk found a driver for me within 30 minutes. Even my personal concierge had been around me much of the time before I realized who she was. Then came the spa. My therapist, 拉姆, had what I can only describe as healing hands. The treatment went far beyond physical relaxation — it felt mental, emotional, and almost spiritual. I travel extensively and have stayed at many exceptional hotels, but Banyan Tree Spa genuinely exceeded its reputation for me. That night, I had the best sleep I’d had in nearly two weeks. The resort itself is not about excess. The dining selection may not be as elaborate as some of the world’s grandest five-star hotels, but somehow that suited the place perfectly. There was something about the property I still find difficult to explain — the mountains, the silence, the space, the people, perhaps even the energy of the land itself. It felt as though the entire place had quietly wrapped itself around me. Nothing dramatic happened; it simply seemed to work on me little by little, allowing me to slow down, breathe again, and heal in a way I had not expected. On my final morning, I did a stretch class, enjoyed the photo shoot included with my stay, and took advantage of a late checkout so there was no rush to leave. The same driver who had helped me the day before picked me up again, took me through the remaining half of my itinerary, and somehow got me to the airport just in time for my flight. I arrived exhausted and restless. I left rested, grounded, and somehow lighter. Sometimes the most memorable hotels are not the ones that simply impress you. They are the ones that quietly change the way you feel before you leave."

Hotel near Ganden Sumtseling Monastery,Shangri-La
Songtsam Retreat at Shangri-La (Xianggelila Songzan Linka Meijingge Jiudian) is a Tibetan style hotel situated just north of the Womachuka Tibetan Culture Center, the Tibet Tianzhu Exhibition Hall and Longtan Park. A 5-minute drive will take you to the Songzanlin Temple, which is the most popular Tibetan Buddhism temple in Yunnan. This Shangri-La hotel is also just 8 km (5 mi)from the Diqing Shangri-La Airport.Built and decorated in a true Tibetan Buddhist style, complete with Tibetan antiques, carpets and mandalas, the hotel offers spacious, comfortable rooms with spectacular views of the surrounding temple. Rooms are equipped with cable and satellite television, broadband and wireless Internet connection, international and domestic direct-dial phones and an in-room safe.Guests can enjoy a Western breakfast, a variety of international cuisine that has been fused with local flavors, such as pizza with Tibetan cheese and authentic Tibetan cuisine as well. The rooftop is also available for cocktail parties and cook-outs. Tibetan style meeting rooms are also available along with a conference package, which includes group luncheons and tea breaks.

"Worth experiencing. The hotel environment is elegant, and enjoying breakfast while admiring Songzanlin Monastery in the morning light is a great feeling. The hotel is halfway up the mountain, far from the hustle and bustle. Coming here from the ancient city feels like entering a secret realm, a hidden paradise. The hotel breakfast is quite rich, with ******* pastries and butter tea, which might not suit everyone's taste, but there are also Chinese and Western options, so there's plenty of choice. The rooms are available in traditional ******* and modern ******* styles; personally, I prefer the modern ******* for its brighter feel. The hotel service is good; they upgraded my room and there's a shuttle bus to the room, which is very convenient. The only complaint is that the hotel is a bit old, so the hardware, like the underfloor heating circulation, isn't very good, and the room temperature couldn't get warm enough. After feedback, they provided an electric heater to solve the issue. Also, the auxiliary oxygen equipment wasn't working well, and after feedback, they provided an oxygen concentrator. Overall, the stay was quite good!"
