Guiyang Spring Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips
Weather Overview
Spring (March to May) brings warmer weather, with average temperatures ranging from 8°C to 24°C, and humidity gradually rises. Rainfall becomes more frequent, especially in April. Overall, the climate is comfortable, but there’s a big swing between day and night temperatures, and occasional late-spring cold snaps, so be sure to keep warm.

Guiyang Forest Park
What to Wear Guide
In spring, we recommend dressing in layers: during the day, wear a long-sleeve shirt with a light jacket, and when temperatures are lower in the early morning and evening, add a knit sweater or a windbreaker. For footwear, opt for slip-resistant sneakers or lightweight waterproof hiking shoes to handle the occasional wet, slippery paths.
Travel Tips
Spring is the perfect time to explore Guiyang’s natural side; when you head out, bring a compact umbrella or a lightweight rain jacket to prepare for sudden showers. If you’re planning a spring outing in the countryside, choose a clear day and check the weather forecast in advance to avoid low visibility on rainy or foggy days.
Top Spots to Explore
- Qianling Mountain Park: In spring, wildflowers burst into bloom; hike the trails uphill for panoramic views and take in the beautiful blend of city and nature.
- Guiyang Forest Park: With lush greenery and fresh, clean air, it's a favorite for springtime outings and picnics.

It is a massive park, but be prepared for the crowds! I went at summer break and the number of people there was beyond belief. If you want to see the pandas, be prepared for quite a bit of walking uphill. Suggestion is to let the bulk of the crowd pass at opening at 10:00am and then make your way up. If you need an accessible bathroom, I don’t remember seeing one at all as we were walking around, so be prepared for only squatties. Look up for the wild monkeys, but please remember these are wild animals and not pets. If you see a clump of people on the paths stopped, expect that the monkeys are nearby. We had a blast watching them jump and fall into the water. Bring water and be prepared to do a lot of uphill walking.

Guiyang Summer Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips
Weather Overview
Summer (June to August) is mild, with few scorching days and average temperatures around 19°C to 28°C. Thunderstorms are relatively frequent, and brief afternoon showers are common; the air is humid and feels refreshingly cool. Thanks to its higher elevation, Guiyang is known as one of China’s top places to beat the heat.

Huaxi Park
What to Wear Guide
We recommend wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt with lightweight long pants or casual shorts. Bring a light jacket for early mornings or air-conditioned spaces. If you're traveling during the rainy season, pack quick-dry clothing and waterproof shoes.
Travel Tips
Summer is a great time for a cool escape, especially to the surrounding natural scenic areas. After rain, paths can be slippery, so for outdoor activities it’s best to avoid steep slopes and muddy trails. We recommend keeping insect repellent and moisturizer with you to avoid bites from mosquitoes and other bugs in forested areas.
Top Spots to Explore
- Huaxi Park: With crisscrossing waterways, leafy shade, and pleasantly cool weather, it's a perfect spot to beat the summer heat.
- Tianhetan Scenic Area: hop on a boat, take in cascading waterfalls, and make your way through karst caves, all while savoring mountain-and-river scenery and the refreshing cool air.

Guiyang Autumn Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips
Weather Overview
In autumn (September to November), temperatures shift from warm to cool, averaging about 8°C to 25°C. Humidity gradually decreases and the weather turns drier. With longer daylight hours and fewer clouds and fog, it’s one of the best times of the year to visit.

Qingyan Ancient Town
What to Wear
We recommend wearing a light long-sleeved shirt, a knit sweater, and a lightweight jacket. Temperatures can vary quite a bit between morning and evening, so plan to layer up to stay warm. For footwear, choose comfortable, non-slip shoes to handle outdoor activities.
Travel Tips
Autumn is perfect for day trips, hiking, and leaf-peeping. Keep your itinerary a bit flexible to avoid peak crowds on holidays and weekends. If you’re heading to plateaus or mountain regions, check transportation and weather in advance in case of early frost or sudden temperature drops in the mountains.
Top Spots to Explore
- Qingyan Ancient Town: Featuring remarkably well-preserved Ming- and Qing-era architecture and stone-paved streets, it exudes old-world charm in the autumn sunlight.
- Miao Village at Hongfeng Lake Scenic Area: Starting in October, the leaves turn red and the lake's reflections look like a painting, making it a popular hotspot for fall outings and photography.

In winter, when visiting the mountains to see the snow, the park's shuttle bus takes you directly to the halfway point, saving you from climbing steep slopes. The trails are cleared of snow, making them slippery, and you can stop anywhere to take photos. Everything is a blanket of white, with snowdrifts hanging from the branches, like trees covered in cotton. At the summit, they sell hot brown sugar ginger tea for ten yuan a cup; it warms you right up. I took many photos of the pristine snowscape. This trip was incredibly easy and much safer and more comfortable than driving yourself and finding unpaved roads.

Qingyan Ancient Town is small but beautiful, especially the city wall. The tail end was under repair when I went there. I didn't walk the whole way. There is a short section that is very steep. Elderly people with poor legs and feet should be careful. The scenery above is good, there is a viewing platform, a canteen and a toilet!
There is everything an ancient town should have! The ancient town is a mountain town, so it is inevitable to go up and down. Please be careful to slow down on rainy days.

On the last day of my trip to Guizhou, I went to Qingyan Ancient Town. Two hours was not enough to visit. There were so many shops inside, most of which sold silverware, medicinal materials, and some Guizhou-style snacks, such as Bobo candy, chicken spicy corners, beef jerky, etc. It was suitable for a day of sightseeing. But I would like to say that the Wanshou Palace inside was a bit of a scam. After entering, the sister who checked the tickets said that she could help explain it, and then slowly took you to a side hall, asked you to take a brocade bag to ask your own five elements, and arranged for a Taoist priest to interpret the fortune for you, but! ! There is a fee, and they don’t tell you in advance! ! When the chat is almost over, they will ask you for 299 or 399 yuan, and tell you to make good connections or resolve the Tai Sui or something. Be careful when you go in to visit~ If you are really asking for fortunes, it doesn’t matter~

Qingyan Ancient Town is located in the southern part of Huaxi District, Guiyang City.
It was built in 1378 and has since undergone several renovations and expansions.
Many places inside are paved with stones, including walls, houses, streets, etc., which can be seen everywhere. The architecture of the entire street is more inclined to the Ming and Qing styles.
For travelers who like to visit ancient towns, this is a place that should not be missed.

Qingyan Ancient Town, located in Guiyang City, is one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou. The ancient buildings inside make visitors feel as if they are traveling back in time, looking at the past history and learning about the stories of the past.
There are many attractions worth visiting, including Wanshou Palace, Dingguang Gate, Wenchang Pavilion, the former residence of Premier Zhou’s father, etc.
The ticket price is not expensive, about 60 RMB.

Guiyang Winter Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips
Weather Overview
Winter (December to February) brings temperatures between 3°C and 12°C and is mostly damp and chilly, with occasional frost; snowfall is uncommon but fog is frequent. Daylight hours are relatively short, so it’s best to plan outdoor activities around midday.

Colorful Guizhou City
What to Wear
We recommend bundling up with a down jacket, sweaters, a scarf, and thermal pants. With the air on the humid side, stay warm and keep moisture out to ward off damp chills. For footwear, choose warm, slip-resistant shoes.
Travel Tips
For winter trips, focus on indoor-friendly activities such as museums and historic old towns. If you're heading to hot spring areas or ethnic minority villages, bring a dry change of clothes. Day-to-night temperature swings are significant, so add or shed layers as needed.
Top Spots to Explore
- Confucius Academy: Serene and solemn in winter, ideal for a mindful visit and for exploring traditional culture.
- Colorful Guizhou City: a large indoor theme park celebrating ethnic cultures, perfect for beating the winter chill and a fun outing with the kids.

In autumn, go chestnut picking. The chestnut groves are at the foot of the mountain, and the paths are flat and easy to walk on. The vendors will give you bags and tongs. You can pick up any chestnuts that have fallen on the ground; those with cracked shells are ripe, and once peeled open, you'll find golden chestnut kernels. You can fill a small bag with chestnuts in an afternoon. They charge by weight, which is cheaper than at the market. When you get home, you can cook sweet rice noodles and enjoy picking chestnuts slowly while feeling the mountain breeze. It's more interesting than sitting at home watching TV, and it also gives you some exercise.

The hotel lobby is grand and impressive. Although the hotel shows its age a bit, the service is warm and friendly, the rooms are clean and well-maintained, and the facilities are in good working order. Breakfast is quite rich and varied. However, during my stay, there was an event going on, so there were a huge number of people at breakfast, which slightly detracted from the experience.

My experience during this trip to Guiyang for the Mayday concert was absolutely fantastic! I originally picked this hotel just for its close proximity to the Olympic Sports Center, thinking that even with traffic, it would only be about a twenty-minute walk. However, after checking in, I was met with one pleasant surprise after another!
The moment I arrived at the main entrance, a bellboy enthusiastically came forward to help with my luggage. I quickly told him 'No need,' but he insisted on helping, which was incredibly thoughtful. At the front desk during check-in, the staff member noticed my outfit and proactively asked, 'Are you here for the concert?' I confirmed that I was, and to my delight, he informed me that the hotel had organized dedicated shuttle buses for concert attendees, offering round-trip transfers. This meant I wouldn't have to worry about finding a taxi or dealing with traffic jams during peak hours! On top of that, they even gave me a concert support kit containing a water pouch, bottled water, and tissues – truly exceptional service!
The front desk staff also arranged my room based on my request and even added me to a dedicated group chat for concert shuttle services. The duty manager in the group was incredibly attentive, constantly seeking feedback from guests, coordinating pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and even thoughtfully sharing navigation pins. Everything was perfectly organized!
My concert trip to Guiyang was truly made perfect by the Guiyang Century Golden Resources Hotel. I will definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance to visit in the future!

This was our second stay at this hotel. Last time, it was the Alber under the French Paris Hotel Group, but it has since been rebranded as the Chinese-owned “Zhenper” and is now one of the seven members of The Leading Hotels of the World in China. Our recent stay provided us with a wonderful experience.
First and foremost, its location is excellent. Situated in Guiyang's Guanshanhu District, it's very close to Guiyang North Station and the airport, making it easily accessible. A taxi ride to the Guizhou Provincial Museum is just the starting fare. Downstairs from the hotel is the Ayunduo Warehouse Art District, where popular Instagrammable spots like Du's and Captain George's Cafe are located. There's also the ”Gaoshan Class 3”网红 (internet-famous) tea shop, local Guizhou cuisine, Yunnan cuisine, pizzerias, bakeries, and a unique handmade cultural and creative market. Essentially, what others travel far to experience and check-in for, Zhenper guests can enjoy daily, strolling around countless times, relaxing, eating, and drinking in their own community. If a restaurant is hard to get a table at, you can pick up a dinner number at noon, then comfortably relax in your room or hit the gym in the evening. When the restaurant calls, you just head downstairs – pure bliss!
The hotel's design is exceptionally artistic. In the lobby on the first floor, one wall is adorned with Impressionist paintings, while the transparent glass window on the opposite wall reflects the green trees outside – simply beautiful. There's an art exhibition space outside the lobby on the twentieth floor, and during our stay, local Guizhou batik handicrafts were on display.
The room amenities were incredibly comfortable. This time, we stayed in the Zhenper Suite, nearly 80 square meters, featuring a spacious living room, bedroom, and walk-in closet. The bathroom, with its black and white patterned tiles, felt both modern and vintage. All the details were wonderfully designed: despite its large size, the room didn't feel empty. My favorite was the sofa lounger in front of the living room's floor-to-ceiling window. The coffee table was daily filled with an array of nuts, fruits, desserts, red wine, and other suite amenities. The bathroom toiletries were the same as those found in Four Seasons hotels, and mouthwash was thoughtfully provided. The velvet slippers were exceptionally comfortable. The night light design deserves special mention. When you turn on the night light switch in the middle of the night, the floor light in the toilet room connected to the bedroom illuminates, meeting your needs for nighttime lighting without disturbing the other person's sleep. This detail, for someone as sensitive to light at night as I am, was the most satisfying.
The gym is also not to be missed. While it doesn't have a vast array of equipment, it meets basic needs. Especially in Guiyang, where you're constantly indulging in various delicious foods, a 24-hour fitness center provides a great sense of security.
The hotel's restaurant cuisine is also worth trying. Suite privileges include a daily French double dinner; the veal and mushroom chicken soup were particularly delicious, and the desserts were artistic and exquisite. The hotel's Jinsha Bakery on the first floor is fantastic. Any healthy bread you enjoy at breakfast can be purchased at the bakery. I even bought some to give to friends, and the bakery manager arranged for SF Express delivery.
However, I believe the patient, meticulous, and thoughtful private butler service is the true soul of this hotel. Butlers Sue and Tina began communicating with me several days before check-in, inquiring about my preferences and requirements. During our stay, I felt there was no need to use the room phone, as Tina was always responsive on WeChat. Especially after breakfast on the second day, hotel manager Gina was already waiting for me at the restaurant entrance. She accompanied us back to our room, listened to my needs and suggestions on-site, and when we returned to the room after going out, I found she had already made adjustments according to my preferences. It truly felt like coming home, which was incredibly touching. I believe no hotel in the world can satisfy all guests' needs, and this isn't necessarily a drawback. On the contrary, when a hotel has the ability to efficiently solve problems and improve things to the greatest extent possible within its scope, it's an absolute plus. Zhenper is a hotel with that added strength. The next time I visit Guiyang, I will undoubtedly choose it again.From$201

Hotel checking in is fast and clear, they got us dinner sorted and reception booked transport for us for the next day no problem. Checking out is fast and easy, Lisa and Jason were especially nice and friendly and they got us some Guiyang special souvenirs.
The room is cozy, bed is comfortable, the room is sound proof, and we loved the great view, amazing horizon across the city of Guiyang.
The amenety of the hotel are okay, lovely restaurant, swimming pool, lifts are a little confusing as reception is on 55 and the rooms need a different lift to access, but there is always someone around to help if you are lost.
Coffee machine and cups were at a low level in a room without carpets, so be aware of it ,they're easy to knock over and shatter.
Dinner and breakfast are delicious, wide range of food suitable for any type of diet.
We highly recommend this hotel for anyone who loves to travel and explore Guiyang.From$98

Facilities: The hotel facilities are good, especially the shower, with great water pressure and hot water.
Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent; even small details like bathroom corners and carpets were very clean.

Our family's recent stay at this Atour Light hotel was fantastic! It deserves a special shout-out ✨
One thoughtful highlight was the complimentary late-night congee served every evening. Coming back to a warm bowl after a day of sightseeing was incredibly comforting and helped melt away travel fatigue. For those driving or renting a car, parking is absolutely stress-free. The hotel has ample parking spaces, which is a huge convenience and time-saver, especially in a city like Guiyang where parking can be a challenge.
The guest rooms were meticulously cleaned and maintained daily, always spotless, and mineral water was replenished generously. The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious, catering to everyone's tastes in the family. The front desk staff were wonderfully warm, attentive, and responsive. In-room amenities like smart screen casting and the minibar were fully equipped and worked perfectly. Overall, the cleanliness, environment, service, and facilities were all top-notch. Booked the Orange Hotel last minute for my trip and it totally exceeded my expectations! The location is great, easy to find, and really close to the shopping areas and attractions. The room had excellent natural light and no strange smells. The citrus-scented toiletries were a nice touch, and it had everything you need: screen mirroring, a mini-fridge – you name it. The breakfast had a wide variety of options, and the robot delivery for room service was super fun! Both the cleanliness and service were top-notch. I've been to Guiyang many times, and each time I've stayed at Guishan Hotel. It's an established hotel, so I always feel at ease. ## Location
The hotel is ideally located in the bustling center of Guiyang's Grand Cross commercial district, offering an excellent position. Opting for a luxury high-floor room with a view allows for direct, panoramic views of the city from Grand Cross Square. The hotel maintains strict internal management, preventing unauthorized personnel from entering freely. Food deliveries are handled by robots directly to guest rooms, ensuring good safety and privacy for residents.
## Dining Experience
The breakfast consistently offers good quality and a rich variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes, as well as local flavors. This caters to diverse diner preferences, providing ample choice.
## Service and Rooms
The overall service is excellent, and daily room cleaning procedures are well-maintained. The rooms are equipped with comprehensive hardware facilities, ensuring a consistent and comfortable living experience.
## Drawbacks
Being in a vibrant city center, walking to the nearest metro station takes approximately 8-10 minutes, which isn't particularly close for subway commuters. The main road downstairs is a traffic-congested area, with heavy traffic during peak hours, making it easy to encounter jams when driving in or out, thus presenting a slight inconvenience in terms of transportation. Occasionally, noisy motorcycles can be heard at night, which might cause some disturbance.From$41

The hotel boasts a tranquil environment, pleasant rooms, and fresh air. Upon check-in, a butler greets you with rose petals and fresh fruit – excellent service! A cleaning lady provided detailed answers to all your questions (her name is ”Yang Jie” in the last picture), which deserves praise.
This room type includes one free entry to the public hot spring bath, which is staffed on a rotating basis. They proactively offer ginger tea/water, providing excellent service. The only downside is the lack of nearby attractions, only a small supermarket and some foot massage shops.

I just found out that there is such a comfortable hot spring hotel in Guiyang. I don't have to go far to other counties and cities to soak in hot springs anymore! !
The location of the hot spring is really good. I booked a villa with private hot springs. Parking is very convenient. Each room type is equipped with an exclusive parking space. You can park directly and enter the house like a small villa. It is also very close to the public hot spring area from the room, so you don't have to walk for a long time in the cold. It is even more convenient to order takeout supper at night. These two points are simply incomparable to other hot springs in the province. It is suitable for lazy people to go out and relax.
The service is also very good. It was cold these two days. The housekeeper Xiaowen asked about the check-in time in advance. When I entered the room, the air conditioner had been turned on for a long time. This is really the service standard of star hotels and resort hotels. The welcome fruit and mini bar are good and generous
The hygiene is good, the bedding is very comfortable, and children's bathrobes, slippers and toothbrushes are prepared for children
It is worth mentioning the breakfast. Other hot spring breakfasts in Guizhou Province are really perfunctory. This one is very attentive. The total number is not large, but the categories are basically covered, and the taste is also very good, especially the glutinous rice. I really want to secretly take a bag to pack it up! ! ! The restaurant is clean and neat, which refreshed my impression of hot spring hotels in the province. It can really be a benchmark, even better than some star-rated hotels
The private hot spring water is also very comfortable. I didn’t take too many photos because I was enjoying it all the time~ It has been listed as a place for relaxation on weekends by our family. It is close and good. I really recommend it! ! ! !From$110

Would definitely stay here again, I had a great view from my room, and the building is tall enough that you can see pretty far out. The breakfast was up to par for CN standards, had a made to order noodle bar. Very comfortable and spacious overall, not just the room, but common areas as well, (oh and they have good coffee with a selection of Monin syrup and a variety of quality tea bags, self-serve in the lobby 24/7). They also had free laundry/dryer at the 3/f, with detergent. On the second night of a 2 night stay, there was torrential rainfall throughout the night, including thunder and lightning; the power went out twice in the whole area, at least several city blocks; there basically wasn’t anything the hotel could do about it. But all the emergency backup lighting and signage were all working properly, both in the room and in the hallway, so that was surely good. 小周 at the front desk was quite helpful and sincere, props to them, they were also super apologetic about the power outage (even though it was in no way their fault). The first time I came to Guizhou, I wanted to live near the fountain in Guiyang Center and booked a seven-day hotel near the Guiyi subway station. I didn't expect to step on the thunder, decisively gave up, and chose a far away hotel. Opposite the hotel is Qingyan Ancient Town. The parking lot is very convenient. You can park indoors and outdoors. You can eat downstairs and the price is right. Staying at the hotel, the boss was very angry to help upgrade the room type, the room was very clean and spacious, there was a terrace on the fourth floor, the scenery was good and you could dry clothes, and it was very friendly for families with children.
