Guiyang Spring Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

Spring (March to May) brings warmer weather, with average temperatures ranging from 8°C to 24°C, and humidity gradually rises. Rainfall becomes more frequent, especially in April. Overall, the climate is comfortable, but there’s a big swing between day and night temperatures, and occasional late-spring cold snaps, so be sure to keep warm.

Guiyang Forest Park

Guiyang Forest Park

What to Wear Guide

In spring, we recommend dressing in layers: during the day, wear a long-sleeve shirt with a light jacket, and when temperatures are lower in the early morning and evening, add a knit sweater or a windbreaker. For footwear, opt for slip-resistant sneakers or lightweight waterproof hiking shoes to handle the occasional wet, slippery paths.

Travel Tips

Spring is the perfect time to explore Guiyang’s natural side; when you head out, bring a compact umbrella or a lightweight rain jacket to prepare for sudden showers. If you’re planning a spring outing in the countryside, choose a clear day and check the weather forecast in advance to avoid low visibility on rainy or foggy days.

Guiyang Summer Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

Summer (June to August) is mild, with few scorching days and average temperatures around 19°C to 28°C. Thunderstorms are relatively frequent, and brief afternoon showers are common; the air is humid and feels refreshingly cool. Thanks to its higher elevation, Guiyang is known as one of China’s top places to beat the heat.

Huaxi Park

Huaxi Park

What to Wear Guide

We recommend wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt with lightweight long pants or casual shorts. Bring a light jacket for early mornings or air-conditioned spaces. If you're traveling during the rainy season, pack quick-dry clothing and waterproof shoes.

Travel Tips

Summer is a great time for a cool escape, especially to the surrounding natural scenic areas. After rain, paths can be slippery, so for outdoor activities it’s best to avoid steep slopes and muddy trails. We recommend keeping insect repellent and moisturizer with you to avoid bites from mosquitoes and other bugs in forested areas.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Huaxi Park: With crisscrossing waterways, leafy shade, and pleasantly cool weather, it's a perfect spot to beat the summer heat.
  • Tianhetan Scenic Area: hop on a boat, take in cascading waterfalls, and make your way through karst caves, all while savoring mountain-and-river scenery and the refreshing cool air.

Guiyang Autumn Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

In autumn (September to November), temperatures shift from warm to cool, averaging about 8°C to 25°C. Humidity gradually decreases and the weather turns drier. With longer daylight hours and fewer clouds and fog, it’s one of the best times of the year to visit.

Qingyan Ancient Town

Qingyan Ancient Town

What to Wear

We recommend wearing a light long-sleeved shirt, a knit sweater, and a lightweight jacket. Temperatures can vary quite a bit between morning and evening, so plan to layer up to stay warm. For footwear, choose comfortable, non-slip shoes to handle outdoor activities.

Travel Tips

Autumn is perfect for day trips, hiking, and leaf-peeping. Keep your itinerary a bit flexible to avoid peak crowds on holidays and weekends. If you’re heading to plateaus or mountain regions, check transportation and weather in advance in case of early frost or sudden temperature drops in the mountains.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Qingyan Ancient Town: Featuring remarkably well-preserved Ming- and Qing-era architecture and stone-paved streets, it exudes old-world charm in the autumn sunlight.
  • Miao Village at Hongfeng Lake Scenic Area: Starting in October, the leaves turn red and the lake's reflections look like a painting, making it a popular hotspot for fall outings and photography.

In winter, when visiting the mountains to see the snow, the park's shuttle bus takes you directly to the halfway point, saving you from climbing steep slopes. The trails are cleared of snow, making them slippery, and you can stop anywhere to take photos. Everything is a blanket of white, with snowdrifts hanging from the branches, like trees covered in cotton. At the summit, they sell hot brown sugar ginger tea for ten yuan a cup; it warms you right up. I took many photos of the pristine snowscape. This trip was incredibly easy and much safer and more comfortable than driving yourself and finding unpaved roads.

Qingyan Ancient Town is small but beautiful, especially the city wall. The tail end was under repair when I went there. I didn't walk the whole way. There is a short section that is very steep. Elderly people with poor legs and feet should be careful. The scenery above is good, there is a viewing platform, a canteen and a toilet! There is everything an ancient town should have! The ancient town is a mountain town, so it is inevitable to go up and down. Please be careful to slow down on rainy days.

On the last day of my trip to Guizhou, I went to Qingyan Ancient Town. Two hours was not enough to visit. There were so many shops inside, most of which sold silverware, medicinal materials, and some Guizhou-style snacks, such as Bobo candy, chicken spicy corners, beef jerky, etc. It was suitable for a day of sightseeing. But I would like to say that the Wanshou Palace inside was a bit of a scam. After entering, the sister who checked the tickets said that she could help explain it, and then slowly took you to a side hall, asked you to take a brocade bag to ask your own five elements, and arranged for a Taoist priest to interpret the fortune for you, but! ! There is a fee, and they don’t tell you in advance! ! When the chat is almost over, they will ask you for 299 or 399 yuan, and tell you to make good connections or resolve the Tai Sui or something. Be careful when you go in to visit~ If you are really asking for fortunes, it doesn’t matter~

Qingyan Ancient Town is located in the southern part of Huaxi District, Guiyang City. It was built in 1378 and has since undergone several renovations and expansions. Many places inside are paved with stones, including walls, houses, streets, etc., which can be seen everywhere. The architecture of the entire street is more inclined to the Ming and Qing styles. For travelers who like to visit ancient towns, this is a place that should not be missed.

Qingyan Ancient Town, located in Guiyang City, is one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou. The ancient buildings inside make visitors feel as if they are traveling back in time, looking at the past history and learning about the stories of the past. There are many attractions worth visiting, including Wanshou Palace, Dingguang Gate, Wenchang Pavilion, the former residence of Premier Zhou’s father, etc. The ticket price is not expensive, about 60 RMB.

Guiyang Winter Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Colorful Guizhou City

What to Wear

We recommend bundling up with a down jacket, sweaters, a scarf, and thermal pants. With the air on the humid side, stay warm and keep moisture out to ward off damp chills. For footwear, choose warm, slip-resistant shoes.

Travel Tips

For winter trips, focus on indoor-friendly activities such as museums and historic old towns. If you're heading to hot spring areas or ethnic minority villages, bring a dry change of clothes. Day-to-night temperature swings are significant, so add or shed layers as needed.

Top Spots to Explore

In autumn, go chestnut picking. The chestnut groves are at the foot of the mountain, and the paths are flat and easy to walk on. The vendors will give you bags and tongs. You can pick up any chestnuts that have fallen on the ground; those with cracked shells are ripe, and once peeled open, you'll find golden chestnut kernels. You can fill a small bag with chestnuts in an afternoon. They charge by weight, which is cheaper than at the market. When you get home, you can cook sweet rice noodles and enjoy picking chestnuts slowly while feeling the mountain breeze. It's more interesting than sitting at home watching TV, and it also gives you some exercise.

Five-star review! My stay this time was absolutely delightful, and I especially want to commend staff member 6025 at the front desk. Check-in was very efficient, and they were smiling the whole time, incredibly patient, and proactively explained the hotel facilities. They also thoughtfully recommended local dining spots and transportation routes, answering all my questions in detail. The service was professional and warm. My experience during this trip to Guiyang for the Mayday concert was absolutely fantastic! I originally picked this hotel just for its close proximity to the Olympic Sports Center, thinking that even with traffic, it would only be about a twenty-minute walk. However, after checking in, I was met with one pleasant surprise after another! The moment I arrived at the main entrance, a bellboy enthusiastically came forward to help with my luggage. I quickly told him 'No need,' but he insisted on helping, which was incredibly thoughtful. At the front desk during check-in, the staff member noticed my outfit and proactively asked, 'Are you here for the concert?' I confirmed that I was, and to my delight, he informed me that the hotel had organized dedicated shuttle buses for concert attendees, offering round-trip transfers. This meant I wouldn't have to worry about finding a taxi or dealing with traffic jams during peak hours! On top of that, they even gave me a concert support kit containing a water pouch, bottled water, and tissues – truly exceptional service! The front desk staff also arranged my room based on my request and even added me to a dedicated group chat for concert shuttle services. The duty manager in the group was incredibly attentive, constantly seeking feedback from guests, coordinating pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and even thoughtfully sharing navigation pins. Everything was perfectly organized! My concert trip to Guiyang was truly made perfect by the Guiyang Century Golden Resources Hotel. I will definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance to visit in the future!

I rarely leave reviews, but this time I really wanted to. I've stayed in many hotels, and this is by far the most thoughtful one. The service is absolutely impeccable; the butler is available 24/7 and caters to all your needs. Every single detail deserves praise; I can't even express how pleasantly surprised I was by this hotel. Every day they delivered a generous fruit platter to my room. Even when I missed breakfast, they prepared a takeaway bag with bread, fruit, and salad for me to enjoy during my outings. Given Guiyang's unpredictable weather, they even provided disposable raincoats. When my room key had an issue, it was promptly resolved without disturbing my rest. This hotel offers great value for money, centrally located just a stone's throw from Wenchang Pavilion. It's a high-rise building with a range of facilities including dining, foot massages, regular massages, and a spa. Although it's an older building, the renovations make it feel quite new. The rooms are clean, and all room types have a similar decor. You get a view from the window, though the soundproofing is a bit lacking. Coincidentally, it was spring break during my stay, and many families with children checked in. I was able to communicate with the staff to promptly resolve any noise issues. The hotel's 6th to 8th floors house private dining rooms for the Chinese restaurant, while the 11th floor is for casual dining. The restaurant's food is excellent, with fresh ingredients. The 9th floor has an outsourced massage and foot massage parlor, which also provides good service. Overall, I'd rate it as very good value for money. Key card access for rooms adds to the security. The room decor is quite simple, so I didn't take any photos. The guest rooms are expansive, each with its own private balcony offering scenic views. The staff members were all incredibly courteous, especially Xiao Han. Highly recommend!

We didn't use the hotel springs but tickets were available for every day of our stay. Great room, even in the basement with no window. The private spring was cosy. Simple room with plenty of space. Good food options nearby and plenty of places to see. I thoroughly recommend Yelang Valley (twenty-forty minutes by car).

During the Suzhou Expo holiday, I took my old mother and daughter to stay at the Vientiane Hot Spring Maju Bieyuan. I felt that this was a very satisfying stay experience. First of all, let’s talk about the service. I went to see the room in advance. After adding WeChat at the front desk, the young lady has been very warm and thoughtful to answer some of my questions. She has a humble and courteous attitude, and she has to answer all questions. She is not impatient at all. After check-in, the smile of several waiters in the room sent things every time, which made people feel like spring breeze and happy. For the entire two days of accommodation, the service can score full marks! After driving to Malone Bieyuan, there is a separate parking lot downstairs. After parking, the car will enter the room directly from the parking lot, which is very convenient. The room facilities are complete, clean and tidy, the toilet, shower, and the independent bubble pool in the room are all clean. The design of the whole room can be seen with great care (the decorative paintings in the bubble pool room, the verses in line with the environment, the right vases and green plants), which makes people relax physically and mentally. From the Maju Bieyuan, through a glass door, you will reach the area of the public bubble pool, which is very convenient for the elderly. There are more than 40 different types of bubble pools in the public area, the water quality is good and very clean. The entire public area environment design is very careful and can meet the needs of different ages. The old mother was also very satisfied this time, saying that this is the best hot spring she has soaked in the past few years, and her daughter also likes it very much. The hotel has a wide variety of breakfasts, fresh ingredients, and a comfortable and elegant dining environment. We ordered takeaways for Chinese food nearby and it was delivered soon. There are many shops to choose from. This is a pleasant stay experience. If you soak in the hot spring next time, you will choose here again! At the same time, thank you for the front desk lady who served us these days, the room attendant, thank you!

As a local luxury hotel, the service was utterly inadequate. We checked in late at night with our infant baby. The baby didn't have an ID card or household registration booklet, although both parents were present and had identification, and we could provide the baby's birth certificate. However, the hotel reception refused to check us in, insisting on our baby's ID number. Around 1 or 2 AM, we called Guizhou's 12345 consumer hotline and the Guizhou Municipal Public Security Bureau. Local police finally arrived and criticized the hotel for not considering the guests' needs, suggesting they could help guests contact their police station and register their situation before processing check-ins in the future. But throughout the entire process, the hotel simply said that without the required information, check-in was impossible, leaving us to frantically call for help in the lobby, with no one offering assistance! We were extremely disappointed! Because it's an established luxury hotel, the hot spring facilities were okay, but the service was terrible!

Five-star recommendation for the Renaissance Guiyang Hotel! Rhea provided thoughtful and attentive service, the room was clean and comfortable, and the panoramic window offered excellent views. The breakfast featured distinct local Guizhou flavors, and the accompanying gym and executive lounge were all well-equipped, making it suitable for business travel. The stay experience was excellent, definitely worth a return visit.

Location undeniable convenient. Main entrance from hotel turn right less than 5 minutes to jiaxu pavilion. Turn right walk down straight for around 5 to 8minutes to reach Qingyun market .lots of food areas/shops around but mainly their local specialties.Sour fish soup, noodles ,stir fries etc. The hotel has been around for around 20 years or so.Tge decor looks similar to offerings from the late 80s to 90s. Service is very good as evident of the Sheraton lineage. However the dated feel and horrendous central air conditioning puts it a notch down. With offerings nearby that has upped tge game these past years. The management should look seriously in some areas such as decor and added lighting features specially in the rooms .(lights at lower section of bed to light up pathway at night). Breakfast was well stocked and timing was especially good.up till 10.30am. The best feature this Hotel has is the staff.Improve a bit more especially on the air conditioning and I believe market share loss will improve. Overall it's a relatively good stay.

The environment is really very good. The service of the lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic. I arrived in the middle of the night and used the benefits to upgrade the room. I also received a breakfast coupon. The room is large and quiet, and the lighting is suitable for sleeping. After so many days in Guiyang, this hotel before leaving is really the most satisfactory. There are no regrets. The parking lot is free and the breakfast is very suitable for me! I will come again next time! I will definitely recommend it to friends who come to Guiyang! Whether it is the front desk or the customer service staff, they are all very good! ! !

The room's environment and hygiene were excellent, and the buffet was also very good. The front desk lady and the manager were very friendly. The room type we initially booked didn't have a window, but after discussing it, they upgraded our room. The room came with noise-canceling earplugs and disposable toilet seat covers, which was very thoughtful. It offers great value for money, and I highly recommend it. The location is also very convenient, close to the provincial hospital, making it easy for medical visits.

The city view suite is perfect for couples! With 270-degree panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy cityscapes during the day and catch stunning sunsets in the evening. You can even see Jiaxiu Tower right from your bed, and every photo you take will have a great vibe. 💖 Service exceeded expectations! A dedicated butler contacted us in advance, arranged pick-up and drop-off, and was on hand for luggage storage and any other needs we had. 🏠 The room amenities were incredibly thoughtful. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area and a standalone bathtub – perfect for relaxing after a long day of travel. They also provided a Marshall speaker, premium toiletries, and a Dyson hairdryer, making for a truly high-quality stay. Breakfast can be delivered to your room, so you can enjoy high-altitude city views with your morning tea right from your bed. The American-style cafe downstairs is super photogenic, and there are complimentary welcome fruits, coffee, and drinks. Plus, laundry and drying services are available. It's truly ideal for couples! The American-style cafe downstairs is also a great spot to take photos and have coffee with your partner. There are free welcome fruits and coffee/drinks at the front desk, and even laundry and drying services. As someone who appreciates attention to detail, I absolutely loved it.

Pros: -Very friendly staff and efficient service all around -Lots of complimentary activities throughout the day (The evening tour of Qingyan was definitely a highlight of my trip) -The exteriors of the hotels from the walls to the courtyards are all very picturesque -The lobby offers tea and some small local snacks -Clean room with lots of amenities - the robes were very soft Cons: -Terrible soundproofing: I could hear my neighbours slam their doors starting around 6AM in the morning. -Some small repairs are needed: the peephole cover was loose (I used tissue paper to cover the hole throughout the night, and the shower button was a bit loose so it was hard to adjust to the shower head that I wanted to use)

Positive: - provide a bath towel and a closet for banding clothes - provide a mini fridge! - convenient location to stay after arriving at the train station in the evening However, I didn’t have a good first impression from the staff. The service quality is not good. They do not greet you or offer to help you even when you’re right in front of them. The staff are also busy with checking in, that it took take three people to do one check in. Note: if you order delivery food, it’s left at the reception desk. I thought someone would bring it to my door, so I was disappointed

Advantages: Service: The most commendable thing is the service of the hotel. Miss Judy added WeChat at the front desk. If you have any needs during your stay, you will respond at any time and send breakfast. The aunt and eldest sister who cleaned up the room were also very caring, and they would take the initiative to greet them when they met in the corridor. Takeaways can be delivered to the door of the room by robots. Environment: The breakfast and dining environment is good. Although the variety is not too much, the variety is complete. It is very good in this level hotel. The ingredients are clean and fresh. Every morning, I will go to show a bowl of beef noodles and eat some vegetables and fruits. ➡️ BTW, every day I come back, the room will be intimately put on yogurt and fruit, contracted the fruit every day during my stay 🍐🍊 Disadvantages: The location of the hotel is far from the subway station, maybe more than 1 km, about 25 minutes walk to the city government, shopping and dining in the surrounding business districts is slightly biased, but business trips are enough. I also hope that the door to the outdoor safe escape stairs can be closed at night. In addition, staying in a business-oriented business hotel, reminding all young ladies that it is best to bring their own shower gel, shampoo, slippers (yes, but not disposable), which is purely personal habits.
