Guiyang Spring Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

Spring (March to May) brings warmer weather, with average temperatures ranging from 8°C to 24°C, and humidity gradually rises. Rainfall becomes more frequent, especially in April. Overall, the climate is comfortable, but there’s a big swing between day and night temperatures, and occasional late-spring cold snaps, so be sure to keep warm.

Guiyang Forest Park

Guiyang Forest Park

What to Wear Guide

In spring, we recommend dressing in layers: during the day, wear a long-sleeve shirt with a light jacket, and when temperatures are lower in the early morning and evening, add a knit sweater or a windbreaker. For footwear, opt for slip-resistant sneakers or lightweight waterproof hiking shoes to handle the occasional wet, slippery paths.

Travel Tips

Spring is the perfect time to explore Guiyang’s natural side; when you head out, bring a compact umbrella or a lightweight rain jacket to prepare for sudden showers. If you’re planning a spring outing in the countryside, choose a clear day and check the weather forecast in advance to avoid low visibility on rainy or foggy days.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Qianling Mountain Park: In spring, wildflowers burst into bloom; hike the trails uphill for panoramic views and take in the beautiful blend of city and nature.
  • Guiyang Forest Park: With lush greenery and fresh, clean air, it's a favorite for springtime outings and picnics.

It is a massive park, but be prepared for the crowds! I went at summer break and the number of people there was beyond belief. If you want to see the pandas, be prepared for quite a bit of walking uphill. Suggestion is to let the bulk of the crowd pass at opening at 10:00am and then make your way up. If you need an accessible bathroom, I don’t remember seeing one at all as we were walking around, so be prepared for only squatties. Look up for the wild monkeys, but please remember these are wild animals and not pets. If you see a clump of people on the paths stopped, expect that the monkeys are nearby. We had a blast watching them jump and fall into the water. Bring water and be prepared to do a lot of uphill walking.

Guiyang Summer Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

Summer (June to August) is mild, with few scorching days and average temperatures around 19°C to 28°C. Thunderstorms are relatively frequent, and brief afternoon showers are common; the air is humid and feels refreshingly cool. Thanks to its higher elevation, Guiyang is known as one of China’s top places to beat the heat.

Huaxi Park

Huaxi Park

What to Wear Guide

We recommend wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt with lightweight long pants or casual shorts. Bring a light jacket for early mornings or air-conditioned spaces. If you're traveling during the rainy season, pack quick-dry clothing and waterproof shoes.

Travel Tips

Summer is a great time for a cool escape, especially to the surrounding natural scenic areas. After rain, paths can be slippery, so for outdoor activities it’s best to avoid steep slopes and muddy trails. We recommend keeping insect repellent and moisturizer with you to avoid bites from mosquitoes and other bugs in forested areas.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Huaxi Park: With crisscrossing waterways, leafy shade, and pleasantly cool weather, it's a perfect spot to beat the summer heat.
  • Tianhetan Scenic Area: hop on a boat, take in cascading waterfalls, and make your way through karst caves, all while savoring mountain-and-river scenery and the refreshing cool air.

Guiyang Autumn Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

In autumn (September to November), temperatures shift from warm to cool, averaging about 8°C to 25°C. Humidity gradually decreases and the weather turns drier. With longer daylight hours and fewer clouds and fog, it’s one of the best times of the year to visit.

Qingyan Ancient Town

Qingyan Ancient Town

What to Wear

We recommend wearing a light long-sleeved shirt, a knit sweater, and a lightweight jacket. Temperatures can vary quite a bit between morning and evening, so plan to layer up to stay warm. For footwear, choose comfortable, non-slip shoes to handle outdoor activities.

Travel Tips

Autumn is perfect for day trips, hiking, and leaf-peeping. Keep your itinerary a bit flexible to avoid peak crowds on holidays and weekends. If you’re heading to plateaus or mountain regions, check transportation and weather in advance in case of early frost or sudden temperature drops in the mountains.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Qingyan Ancient Town: Featuring remarkably well-preserved Ming- and Qing-era architecture and stone-paved streets, it exudes old-world charm in the autumn sunlight.
  • Miao Village at Hongfeng Lake Scenic Area: Starting in October, the leaves turn red and the lake's reflections look like a painting, making it a popular hotspot for fall outings and photography.

In winter, when visiting the mountains to see the snow, the park's shuttle bus takes you directly to the halfway point, saving you from climbing steep slopes. The trails are cleared of snow, making them slippery, and you can stop anywhere to take photos. Everything is a blanket of white, with snowdrifts hanging from the branches, like trees covered in cotton. At the summit, they sell hot brown sugar ginger tea for ten yuan a cup; it warms you right up. I took many photos of the pristine snowscape. This trip was incredibly easy and much safer and more comfortable than driving yourself and finding unpaved roads.

Qingyan Ancient Town is small but beautiful, especially the city wall. The tail end was under repair when I went there. I didn't walk the whole way. There is a short section that is very steep. Elderly people with poor legs and feet should be careful. The scenery above is good, there is a viewing platform, a canteen and a toilet! There is everything an ancient town should have! The ancient town is a mountain town, so it is inevitable to go up and down. Please be careful to slow down on rainy days.

On the last day of my trip to Guizhou, I went to Qingyan Ancient Town. Two hours was not enough to visit. There were so many shops inside, most of which sold silverware, medicinal materials, and some Guizhou-style snacks, such as Bobo candy, chicken spicy corners, beef jerky, etc. It was suitable for a day of sightseeing. But I would like to say that the Wanshou Palace inside was a bit of a scam. After entering, the sister who checked the tickets said that she could help explain it, and then slowly took you to a side hall, asked you to take a brocade bag to ask your own five elements, and arranged for a Taoist priest to interpret the fortune for you, but! ! There is a fee, and they don’t tell you in advance! ! When the chat is almost over, they will ask you for 299 or 399 yuan, and tell you to make good connections or resolve the Tai Sui or something. Be careful when you go in to visit~ If you are really asking for fortunes, it doesn’t matter~

Qingyan Ancient Town is located in the southern part of Huaxi District, Guiyang City. It was built in 1378 and has since undergone several renovations and expansions. Many places inside are paved with stones, including walls, houses, streets, etc., which can be seen everywhere. The architecture of the entire street is more inclined to the Ming and Qing styles. For travelers who like to visit ancient towns, this is a place that should not be missed.

Qingyan Ancient Town, located in Guiyang City, is one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou. The ancient buildings inside make visitors feel as if they are traveling back in time, looking at the past history and learning about the stories of the past. There are many attractions worth visiting, including Wanshou Palace, Dingguang Gate, Wenchang Pavilion, the former residence of Premier Zhou’s father, etc. The ticket price is not expensive, about 60 RMB.

Guiyang Winter Weather Overview, What to Wear, and Travel Tips

Weather Overview

Winter (December to February) brings temperatures between 3°C and 12°C and is mostly damp and chilly, with occasional frost; snowfall is uncommon but fog is frequent. Daylight hours are relatively short, so it’s best to plan outdoor activities around midday.

Colorful Guizhou City

Colorful Guizhou City

What to Wear

We recommend bundling up with a down jacket, sweaters, a scarf, and thermal pants. With the air on the humid side, stay warm and keep moisture out to ward off damp chills. For footwear, choose warm, slip-resistant shoes.

Travel Tips

For winter trips, focus on indoor-friendly activities such as museums and historic old towns. If you're heading to hot spring areas or ethnic minority villages, bring a dry change of clothes. Day-to-night temperature swings are significant, so add or shed layers as needed.

Top Spots to Explore

  • Confucius Academy: Serene and solemn in winter, ideal for a mindful visit and for exploring traditional culture.

In autumn, go chestnut picking. The chestnut groves are at the foot of the mountain, and the paths are flat and easy to walk on. The vendors will give you bags and tongs. You can pick up any chestnuts that have fallen on the ground; those with cracked shells are ripe, and once peeled open, you'll find golden chestnut kernels. You can fill a small bag with chestnuts in an afternoon. They charge by weight, which is cheaper than at the market. When you get home, you can cook sweet rice noodles and enjoy picking chestnuts slowly while feeling the mountain breeze. It's more interesting than sitting at home watching TV, and it also gives you some exercise.

The hotel lobby is grand and impressive. Although the hotel shows its age a bit, the service is warm and friendly, the rooms are clean and well-maintained, and the facilities are in good working order. Breakfast is quite rich and varied. However, during my stay, there was an event going on, so there were a huge number of people at breakfast, which slightly detracted from the experience.

My experience during this trip to Guiyang for the Mayday concert was absolutely fantastic! I originally picked this hotel just for its close proximity to the Olympic Sports Center, thinking that even with traffic, it would only be about a twenty-minute walk. However, after checking in, I was met with one pleasant surprise after another! The moment I arrived at the main entrance, a bellboy enthusiastically came forward to help with my luggage. I quickly told him 'No need,' but he insisted on helping, which was incredibly thoughtful. At the front desk during check-in, the staff member noticed my outfit and proactively asked, 'Are you here for the concert?' I confirmed that I was, and to my delight, he informed me that the hotel had organized dedicated shuttle buses for concert attendees, offering round-trip transfers. This meant I wouldn't have to worry about finding a taxi or dealing with traffic jams during peak hours! On top of that, they even gave me a concert support kit containing a water pouch, bottled water, and tissues – truly exceptional service! The front desk staff also arranged my room based on my request and even added me to a dedicated group chat for concert shuttle services. The duty manager in the group was incredibly attentive, constantly seeking feedback from guests, coordinating pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and even thoughtfully sharing navigation pins. Everything was perfectly organized! My concert trip to Guiyang was truly made perfect by the Guiyang Century Golden Resources Hotel. I will definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance to visit in the future!

I stayed at this property 9 years ago when my kids were still toddlers and one of them is a teenager now. The service of the hotel remains as tentative and warm as 9 years ago. We upgraded to one of their suite rooms and I think we will book a suite on our next trip. My kids enjoyed the pool and playing chess downstairs from the lobby. This was one of the highlights of their trip. My wife had a nice glass of wine at the regency club we missed the happy hour drinks and food as we went to HuangGuo Shu for a day trip and the second day we had dinner plans with our family. Harris checked us in and showed us our room knowing we were allergic to smoke. He was very attentive and checked on us each day to make sure we were comfortable. Will come back again soon hopefully.

Before check-in, the concierge confirmed my details and, considering we were a family of four, upgraded us for free to a larger king room and added an extra bed at no charge. After we checked in, the room was cleaned twice daily, and every evening, we received complimentary drinks like plum juice and jasmine soy milk – something different every night! The daily fruit, as well as all the drinks and chocolates in the minibar, were constantly replenished, and there was an endless supply of VOSS water. To receive such meticulous and thoughtful service during the peak summer travel season is truly exceptional. The staff were all young, very dedicated, and responsible. On the other hand, the hotel's decor was a bit underwhelming, perhaps because my expectations were too high. There's also no swimming pool, and retrieving your car requires waiting for staff to drive it from the underground garage to the hotel entrance. You need a bit of patience, but you can tell the staff are doing their best to be as quick as possible. Oh, and the A Duo Yun Cang at the entrance – besides the food, there isn't much else to browse. The Captain George coffee beans used for the hotel breakfast are also sold here, and the menu is different from other Captain George locations, definitely worth trying. This hotel is a 20-30 minute drive to Yunyan District. The surrounding environment is different from the noisy and cluttered old city. For seasoned foodies, hotels in the old city area might be more suitable (as they are surrounded by long-standing local eateries).

I got an upgrade to a panoramic room, and the view was fantastic! I could see Jiaxiu Tower, Twin Towers, and even the White House, perfect for enjoying the beautiful night scenery. Before coming, I was a bit worried because some reviews mentioned the hotel was old, but I found that wasn't the case at all. It has all the amenities you'd expect: a smart toilet, screen-mirroring TV, and a large bed. There's a food street nearby with all sorts of delicious options, and both Jiaxiu Tower and Wenchang Pavilion are within walking distance, which is super convenient. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center. Jiaxiu Tower, Qingyun Street, and Minsheng Road are all within walking distance (during this summer trip, taxis to popular attractions were very congested, and there were no shared bikes in the city center, so being able to walk to attractions was crucial). The high-altitude view is fantastic, and you can see Jiaxiu Tower at night. The service was thoughtful and attentive; Janice and Lisa were very responsive, and Janice even proactively recommended local food. The toiletries were Lanvin, and the scent was very pleasant; they even gave me extra. Both breakfast and the buffet were plentiful. For breakfast, there were local Guizhou specialties like Tofu Yuanzi, Cuisao, pork noodles, and potato slices, as well as crepes, French toast, and waffles that the kids loved. Dinner was also very rich. Since I was traveling with two kids during the summer, the comfortable stay and good food made it feel like great value for money. It's a shame I was in a rush to leave and didn't have time to pick up the souvenir, which is a bit disappointing.

I absolutely have to write a lengthy review to express my gratitude to the staff at the Guizhou Hotel VIP Building, especially Lobby Manager Mei'ao and front desk agent Xiao Shi. They made my trip to Guiyang warm and full of pleasant surprises from the very moment I stepped into the hotel. First, let me talk about Manager Mei'ao, who impressed me the most. That day, I accidentally navigated to the 'Yingbin Building' and was feeling a bit lost. Mei'ao proactively approached me. Upon learning I was checking into the VIP Building, she didn't just point the way. Instead, she smiled and said, 'I'll take you there.' She then accompanied me the entire way, explaining the layout of the two buildings and the hotel's features as we walked. Once we reached the VIP Building lobby, she assisted me with the check-in process, which was incredibly efficient. What's even more thoughtful is that after completing the formalities, she didn't stop there. She personally arranged for a staff member to escort me to my room and carefully informed me about the luggage delivery time. This seamless service, 'from Yingbin Building to VIP Building,' instantly made me feel the professionalism and warmth of a five-star hotel. After I entered my room, Mei'ao even called to inquire if everything was satisfactory and enthusiastically recommended local dining and sightseeing tips – from authentic sour soup beef restaurants nearby to jogging routes in Qianling Park and even the best angles for night photos at Jiaxiu Tower. She shared all this information like a local friend pouring out their heart. This level of dedication, going beyond her job description, was truly touching. At the same time, I must sincerely commend front desk agent Xiao Shi. She always wore a sweet smile during check-in, patiently verified my information, and proactively informed me about breakfast times, gym location, and other important details. Even with a queue of guests behind me, she remained calm and organized, making everyone feel comfortable. Later, when I asked her for bus routes while heading out, she clearly marked Bus No. 1 for me, showing great attention to detail. And then there's the hotel itself – the hardware of the VIP Building is impeccable. The rooms are spacious and bright with excellent views, and the price offers great value for money. But what truly moved me were these warm service details. From the encounter at the Yingbin Building to settling in at the VIP Building, Mei'ao and Xiao Shi, with their sincerity and professionalism, perfectly demonstrated what 'a home away from home' truly means. Next time I visit Guiyang, I will definitely choose the Guizhou Hotel VIP Building again. Thank you, Mei'ao and Xiao Shi; you are the hotel's brightest stars!

This hotel offers great value for money, centrally located just a stone's throw from Wenchang Pavilion. It's a high-rise building with a range of facilities including dining, foot massages, regular massages, and a spa. Although it's an older building, the renovations make it feel quite new. The rooms are clean, and all room types have a similar decor. You get a view from the window, though the soundproofing is a bit lacking. Coincidentally, it was spring break during my stay, and many families with children checked in. I was able to communicate with the staff to promptly resolve any noise issues. The hotel's 6th to 8th floors house private dining rooms for the Chinese restaurant, while the 11th floor is for casual dining. The restaurant's food is excellent, with fresh ingredients. The 9th floor has an outsourced massage and foot massage parlor, which also provides good service. Overall, I'd rate it as very good value for money. Key card access for rooms adds to the security. The room decor is quite simple, so I didn't take any photos. Right outside the hotel, to the left, you'll find Guizhou's intangible cultural heritage sour soup fish restaurant and a spicy chicken restaurant, both highly recommended.

## Location The hotel is ideally located in the bustling center of Guiyang's Grand Cross commercial district, offering an excellent position. Opting for a luxury high-floor room with a view allows for direct, panoramic views of the city from Grand Cross Square. The hotel maintains strict internal management, preventing unauthorized personnel from entering freely. Food deliveries are handled by robots directly to guest rooms, ensuring good safety and privacy for residents. ## Dining Experience The breakfast consistently offers good quality and a rich variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes, as well as local flavors. This caters to diverse diner preferences, providing ample choice. ## Service and Rooms The overall service is excellent, and daily room cleaning procedures are well-maintained. The rooms are equipped with comprehensive hardware facilities, ensuring a consistent and comfortable living experience. ## Drawbacks Being in a vibrant city center, walking to the nearest metro station takes approximately 8-10 minutes, which isn't particularly close for subway commuters. The main road downstairs is a traffic-congested area, with heavy traffic during peak hours, making it easy to encounter jams when driving in or out, thus presenting a slight inconvenience in terms of transportation. Occasionally, noisy motorcycles can be heard at night, which might cause some disturbance.

My stay at Guiyang Wanxiang Hot Spring Resort was absolutely fantastic! The hotel's attached hot spring is definitely the highlight; it was incredibly relaxing after a long day of work. The room was clean and tidy, spacious, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The soundproofing was excellent too. The front desk staff were very warm and attentive, check-in was efficient, and they were always available when needed. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options. The environment is serene and quiet, making it perfect for both leisure and business. It's a great choice for relaxing after a business trip, and overall, it offers excellent value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Guiyang!

My stay at the Poly International Hot Spring Hotel's King Room was absolutely perfect! The service was attentive throughout: the front desk staff were warm and efficient, greeting guests and checking us in quickly. Room service was prompt and responsive to our needs, and we even received complimentary fresh fruit upon arrival – such thoughtful touches. The package included unlimited access to the hot springs for two, featuring deep natural spring water and a variety of indoor and outdoor pools with different benefits (like herbal baths and petal pools). After a soak, my skin felt smooth, and all my fatigue melted away. The breakfast spread was extensive, a great mix of Western and Chinese options, including local specialties, and everything tasted delicious.

The hotel boasts a tranquil environment, pleasant rooms, and fresh air. Upon check-in, a butler greets you with rose petals and fresh fruit – excellent service! A cleaning lady provided detailed answers to all your questions (her name is ”Yang Jie” in the last picture), which deserves praise. This room type includes one free entry to the public hot spring bath, which is staffed on a rotating basis. They proactively offer ginger tea/water, providing excellent service. The only downside is the lack of nearby attractions, only a small supermarket and some foot massage shops. If you arrive by high-speed rail, this hotel is ideal for a one-night stay. It's only a 15-minute taxi ride from Guiyang East Station, making it a highly recommended choice.

The hotel facilities are pretty standard. What's very unique is that the room has a private hot spring bath. It's very comfortable to take a bath in the room. It has a strong sense of privacy. The private parking space is just below the room and can be reached directly from the room, which is very convenient. The hotel is equipped with a private butler. Xiao Wei's service during the stay was very good. To be honest, no matter where you stay when you go out, it’s the same. The main thing is that the service can make people feel attentive and the detailed service can reflect the hotel’s business philosophy and service quality. The experience is very good. I hope to book a room directly with the housekeeper Xiaowei next time, which will be more cost-effective. Higher [laughing]

This hotel is located in the heart of Guanshan Lake District, offering convenient transportation and a beautiful environment! All the hotel's facilities are excellent, featuring Hansgrohe faucets and Duravit sinks and toilets! The twin beds, at 1.37 meters, are spacious and comfortable enough. While the executive lounge on the top floor doesn't have a huge variety of items, the quality is superb! The breakfast selection isn't vast, but its quality is consistently high. The pool is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with the only downside being the slightly small shower rooms. The hotel staff are warm and attentive, especially Lucky, who was incredibly enthusiastic and thorough!

They also provided a Marshall speaker, premium toiletries, and a Dyson hairdryer, making for a truly high-quality stay. It's beautiful and spacious, right within the ancient city walls. We felt completely at ease letting our kids run around in the courtyard. The breakfast was also quite substantial. There's really no need to venture out to any commercial streets, as the city wall is right outside the entrance. It was very pleasant to just stroll around at our own pace.

Would definitely stay here again, I had a great view from my room, and the building is tall enough that you can see pretty far out. The breakfast was up to par for CN standards, had a made to order noodle bar. Very comfortable and spacious overall, not just the room, but common areas as well, (oh and they have good coffee with a selection of Monin syrup and a variety of quality tea bags, self-serve in the lobby 24/7). They also had free laundry/dryer at the 3/f, with detergent. On the second night of a 2 night stay, there was torrential rainfall throughout the night, including thunder and lightning; the power went out twice in the whole area, at least several city blocks; there basically wasn’t anything the hotel could do about it. But all the emergency backup lighting and signage were all working properly, both in the room and in the hallway, so that was surely good. 小周 at the front desk was quite helpful and sincere, props to them, they were also super apologetic about the power outage (even though it was in no way their fault). Great stay!
