ccc1424Our stay at Banyan Tree Sanya far exceeded expectations! The entire resort consists of private villas, offering exceptional privacy. The tropical garden environment is quiet and pleasant, and the private pool courtyard creates a wonderful ambiance. The secluded beach is uncrowded and very comfortable.
A special thanks to our butler, **Xiao Sun**, for his meticulous and attentive service. He was incredibly responsive, proactively reaching out before our arrival to address our needs. During our stay, he handled all matters, big or small, promptly and effectively. Messages were practically answered instantly, and he thoughtfully arranged everything, making our trip completely hassle-free. The hotel breakfast was high-quality, and the overall service standard was excellent. It's truly a top choice for a relaxing getaway. We'll definitely choose Banyan Tree again on our next visit to Sanya, and we highly recommend requesting Butler Xiao Sun!

This was our second time staying at Bird's Nest with the kids. This time we booked a larger room, and the front desk kindly upgraded us for free. We even had a dedicated service butler who was incredibly helpful. Their response time for dining arrangements and car bookings was very quick. The room facilities and decor have a charmingly rustic and natural feel. As for the views, they are absolutely stunning, with rolling mountains and blue skies and white clouds that feel within reach. You can hear the rustling of the pines and the wind blowing through the leaves, and there's a panoramic view of Yalong Bay, where the sea and sky blend seamlessly. It's perfect for those looking for a quiet getaway and a close connection with nature.

The Sheraton is absolutely stunning! The lobby design is super cool and spacious, and the public areas are just gorgeous. They don't have a butler service, but all the staff are friendly. I waited about 40 minutes for check-in and got a free upgrade to a suite. The room was so big it actually made me a bit restless at night! Both balconies offer amazing sea views. Breakfast was pretty average though, not much variety, but the Hainan noodles and Baoluo noodles were delicious. The dining area is nice and cool, and the beach views are incredible. They're very strict about not letting you swim after a certain time, which feels very safe. I'd love to visit Sanya again! The complimentary photoshoot included 5 original photos, and the photographer was pretty good. I paid an extra 100 RMB for retouching.

Posted on Jul 30, 2026|Family Room - 2-Bedroom, Sea-View
ShimalaxiangguonvshiyaWe booked a family suite, which was very large and spacious. For an older hotel, the hardware was acceptable (though some things like the balcony light wouldn't turn off, the electric curtains didn't work, and some room light switches were faulty) 😂. However, the unbeatable sea view was incredibly therapeutic! For the best sea views in China, Yalong Bay is definitely the place, though it depends on the weather. In the afternoon, even phone photos of the sea look like a jelly ocean. You could sit on a lounge chair and zone out all afternoon.
If you're with kids, there are daily activities available, some free and some paid, so you can check the schedule. (For sea fishing, if you get seasick, I'd seriously reconsider.) Personally, I felt the activities were more suitable for younger children; our fifth grader wasn't too interested. His favorite thing was playing in the water. After 4 PM, it's not too sunny, and you can play for a long time.
However, the beach has become much coarser. When we came a few years ago, it was soft, but this year it really hurt our feet. The waves were quite strong during our stay, which made swimming in the sea exhilarating.
We tried the hotel's popular bubble tea – it was good even with regular ice and no sugar! Though the price was indeed a bit high. It was decent overall.
The photographer from Platinum Photography, a partner of the hotel, was incredibly patient and excellent. They took many beautiful photos, and you could even borrow their dresses. Although it's all post-processed uniformly, it still looked quite natural. From booking to shooting to selecting photos, everything was very smooth, with no excessive upselling, purely based on personal preference. (Photos are at the end)
The WeChat butler, 'Yue Lai Yue Hao' (Getting Better and Better), was very responsive and provided incredibly thoughtful service! Definitely worth a good review!! Looking forward to visiting again.

The Lagoon Access Room at Litao Pavilion offers an amazing experience! Step right out onto your private lagoon pool, perfect for water lovers – it's like paradise. The pool is spacious, and when it's not crowded, swimming is incredibly relaxing. The room thoughtfully provides bath salts and toiletries, making a post-swim soak wonderfully comfortable. In the evenings, they even show movies by the pool, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
The Lagoon Access rooms are incredibly spacious, with even the basic ones exceeding 60 square meters. The decor is grand, and the facilities are well-maintained. The private balcony overlooks the pool and garden, offering excellent privacy – sitting out there and enjoying the breeze is so calming. The hotel has several pools, and the super-long lagoon pool on the west side is fantastic for swimming. Staying in a Lagoon Access room means you can just walk downstairs and swim – it's so convenient!
I must commend my butler, Nicole. She proactively contacted me before check-in to confirm my needs and was incredibly responsive throughout my stay. When she saw I had some sunburn during check-in, she thoughtfully brought me aloe vera gel – it was such a warm gesture! She also helped book hotel activities, saving me any hassle.

BriandebeiMy friends and I stayed for five days, and it exceeded our expectations overall! The cleaning was incredibly thorough, every corner was spotless. The villa's environment was serene, with a stunning mountain view, and the private hot tub was perfect for photos. The three bedrooms and one living room offered ample space, and it was fully equipped with appliances and kitchenware, making it convenient for both travel and daily living. The butler was very responsive, and the service was warm and attentive. It's excellent value for money, highly recommended for groups traveling together!

MingweigegeThis was my first stay at the Yalong Bay Metropark Villa Resort. The day before my arrival, our butler, Xiao Zhao, proactively contacted me via WeChat to confirm my itinerary and inquire about any special requests. The hotel is located next to Yalong Bay Golf Course, boasting a beautiful environment with rivers winding through lush greenery. Our room had one bedroom, one living room, and one bathroom with a bathtub and kitchen. The courtyard also featured a small separate room with a sofa, air conditioning, and a double bed, comfortably accommodating two people, along with a small tea room. The private pool in the courtyard was a hit with both adults and children. The room attendant, Wang Xiaoyan, brought us water and fresh towels several times a day – excellent service! We dined at the hotel restaurant, enjoying a set meal of coconut chicken and the buffet. Restaurant manager Xu Xiaoling personally greeted us, showing genuine care and even giving a gift to our child – truly thoughtful. Breakfast was served until 11 AM and the food was quite good. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the main road, from where it's about a ten-minute walk to the Yalong Bay public beach. The beach is beautiful, but the jet ski vendors there were quite aggressive, often using megaphones to tell tourists to leave, claiming that area was exclusively for their business and telling people to go play elsewhere.

I've been to Sanya many times, but this was my first time staying at the Mangrove Tree Resort, and it was a very disappointing experience. People online often mention it's old, and it definitely is, but that's not the main issue. After all, I stayed next door a few years ago, and it was old then too, but the experience was great. The key really lies in the facilities and service.
Let me first mention two or three good points: first, the room hygiene was good, the cleaning lady was very enthusiastic and responsible; and the breakfast selection was rich and tasty.
Now for the long list of complaints:
Facilities: The old and small room is forgivable, as it's an entry-level room in an older hotel, but the facilities are truly not user-friendly. 1. There's very little counter space to place things in the room – just one desk and a TV stand. This isn't enough for a family traveling with children. 2. The shower in the bathroom is inside a large bathtub. This design is so outdated! Every day, I had to climb over a bathtub that was over a meter high to shower. If you have elderly family members, definitely do not stay here; there's a risk of falling. 3. There's also a shower area on the balcony. I don't know what kind of ”wild fun” this is meant to provide. Firstly, if you're short, it's impossible to shower while enjoying the view, and people inside the room have a clear view, making it unsuitable for families with children. Furthermore, this shower area has no place to hang towels or clothes, or to put toiletries, needlessly taking up a third of the already small balcony. 4. The clothes rack on the balcony is fixed, so you can't hang long clothes or trousers, only small items, and it clashes with the nearby table and chairs. 5. The toilet is cramped, a three-way split is impossible. The toilet paper holder isn't on the side but to the back right, directly above the trash can, so you need a special technique to tear paper, otherwise it falls into the bin. All the designs are incredibly bizarre; I don't see how this relates to being a ”family-friendly” hotel.
Service: I can't even give a score. I specifically requested on Ctrip not to have a corner room, and the room we got was in the furthest wing, the second to last room. So, this doesn't count as a corner room?? Upon check-in, we noticed water dripping from the ceiling's air conditioner condenser right next to my suitcase. We called for maintenance, and they said it was because we had the balcony door open while the AC was on. The implication was that it was our fault for improper use. So, I guess no other guests ever open the balcony door while the AC is on, right? The butler didn't proactively offer any solutions, and we didn't want to push for a room change or upgrade, so we just made do. Then, on our last day, while having breakfast in the hotel's semi-outdoor restaurant, halfway through our meal, water started dripping from the air conditioner condenser above our table, landing in our plates, forcing us to move tables. So, by the hotel's previous logic, the restaurant shouldn't even have AC on, since it's semi-outdoor, right? Shouldn't the hotel compensate me for their own ”usage problem”? It's ridiculous.
We encountered many absurd things at this hotel, including but not limited to: although there were staff leading guests to tables at breakfast, on the first morning, they led us incorrectly three times, taking us in different directions only for others to say there were no empty seats in that area. I don't know how they communicate. Later, we saw other guests finishing their meals outside and wanted to sit there, but the usher seemed oblivious, as if sealed in place. We also witnessed a long tile falling off the fruit buffet counter, hitting a guest's foot, and a server accidentally spilling an entire tray of freshly made fried rice, with grains scattered around a focused guest who was unaware and getting food...
The public areas are just average for a hotel in Yalong Bay, nothing special. With sunlight, it's not ugly, but it's not particularly beautiful either. The only places worth photographing are the pool, lawn, and coconut trees in front of the lobby. No wonder there are no other pictures in the reviews; I could only photograph this area myself. The children's pool is small, and the standard pool is even smaller, undeserving of the word ”standard.” Having stayed in so many hotels, this one is truly hard to review.

The room was amazing, very large with a huge amount of space, including a living room area and a lovely balcony. I had a beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony. The swimming pool was also great and very refreshing to use, especially in the heat.
The location is good as well, with the beach only around a 5-minute walk away. However, Donghai Beach was closed during my visit, so I ended up going to other nearby beaches instead.
There are a few areas where the hotel could improve. It felt very geared towards Russian tourists, and at times it seemed like they were prioritised more than others (I travelled from the UK). Also, while the pool itself was lovely, the lifeguards were not very friendly and were often sitting around smoking or on their phones, which didn’t give the best impression.
The hotel is also missing a great opportunity with the bar area in the middle of the pool, which wasn’t being used at all. It would be a perfect spot to serve drinks and cocktails and really elevate the experience.
Overall, it’s a nice hotel with a beautiful, spacious room and good facilities. With a few improvements to customer service and better use of its amenities, it could easily feel like a strong 4 star hotel.

The Yalong Bay Seaview International Resort Hotel boasts an excellent location, right on the beach. The room amenities and pool environment are generally satisfactory, and it's convenient to get to various attractions by taxi.
The biggest drawback is the restaurant. While the staff are friendly, there's a clear gap in overall management, operational procedures, and brand standards compared to chain hotels. The food quality is mediocre, and replenishment and table clearing are slow. The processes aren't standardized, and for the same price point, the dining experience falls significantly short of chain resorts.
The rooms, beach, and public areas would get a good score. If you don't plan to dine at the hotel and are just looking for a place to stay overnight, it's a viable option. However, if hotel breakfast and restaurant dining experience are important to you, I'd recommend considering other choices carefully.
