YYan-plumNot bad at all! It's just across the road from Changshu Road Station on Metro Line 7. The hotel front desk staff are all very nice. They have a policy where you can't use hairdryers from 11 PM to 7 AM, which is a great idea to prevent late-night check-ins from disturbing other guests. If you have large luggage, it's probably best to store it at the front desk, otherwise, there might not be enough space in the room.

Admittedly the room itself looks dated ie. buttons fading but the opulent bathroom and view more than made up for it.
I'd like to give a mention to lvl 52 main concierge staff Kevin who took it on personally to help me place a food delivery order plus give local food recommendations given that I lack an international number. It is a small detail but it made the staff and service memorable.
In contrast, other concierge staff in the hotel have instead pointed me to level 1 (general desk), which as a guest meant that I had to keep running between floors.

GGuest UserPerfect location! You can take a ferry for just 2 RMB to the Oriental Pearl Tower across the river. The service was attentive and thoughtful. The breakfast restaurant offers views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. The food was fresh and clean, and a very enthusiastic server even recommended a new way for me to enjoy my coffee. Plus, the freshly ground Italian coffee is my absolute favorite; it's definitely on par with Ruixing (Luckin Coffee) across the street. The front desk also upgraded my room, saving me money as it was much cheaper than booking through ***********. This Shanghai trip was absolutely beautiful, and choosing this hotel was a beautiful decision. The hotel's name is beautiful, the front desk ladies are beautiful, the location is beautiful, and the view from the window is beautiful. It made me fall in love with the beauty of Shanghai. I love Shanghai!

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary there, and the team made it incredibly special for us. They thoughtfully decorated our room and surprised us with cakes and fruits as a kind gesture. We truly appreciated the effort — it made our celebration even more memorable.
Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. We especially loved the in-room mini pool — the highlight of our stay was simply relaxing and enjoying a bath while taking in the view.
Tales Rooftop Bar was another standout experience. It’s the perfect place to appreciate the stunning city and river views while enjoying drinks. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary snacks as well.
Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of Western and Chinese options. Aside from the buffet selection, guests can also order freshly prepared dishes like noodles and eggs, which are served hot — a wonderful touch.
The staff were incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. They made us feel valued and were always ready to assist with a warm smile. The overall ambiance of the hotel is peaceful and relaxing, making it a perfect retreat despite being in a vibrant city like Shanghai.
We highly recommend Banyan Tree Shanghai and look forward to returning in the future.

They proactively helped us arrange transportation, and Jude even walked us out with an umbrella when it was raining, ensuring we were well taken care of despite the weather. They had excellent knowledge of local attractions and transportation routes, answered all our questions meticulously, and were always ready to assist with high efficiency. Their polite and gentle demeanor made our trip feel so much more secure and comfortable. Highly recommended!

The breakfast was also perfectly to my liking, even though I'm just a poached egg lover, haha. As long as there are poached eggs, I'm happy! Oh, and when I stayed here before, there was no singer during happy hour, but now there is live music! The atmosphere is really good, it would be even better if there was a bit more interaction!

The room was very clean, and all the essential amenities were provided, ensuring a comfortable stay. The gym and laundry facilities on the fourth floor were a great bonus, adding a lot of convenience to our trip, and we used them frequently. The front desk team deserves praise for their quick responses and excellent attitude. Overall, the hotel performed consistently well in all key areas, offering great value for money.
